The Courtyard on St. James Place Wedding by Darryl & Co.

Inspired by the Ralph Lauren Home Collection (how fabulous is that!) this drop-dead gorgeous (and incredibly sweet) bride pictured a wedding where chandeliers and leather joined design forces together in perfect harmony.  With the help of Darryl & Co., her vision became a reality, and to top it all off – she got to marry the man on her dreams. It all seems pretty perfect to me, and when you add all the images from Brittany Dawson Photography, well folks – you get a full gallery of lovely.

From the Bride…I would say that I decided and then changed my mind on wedding inspiration and color at least 10 times in the first few months.  My problem was not finding a style I liked, as much as choosing JUST one style.  I felt like a different bride everyday, wanting Hollywood Regency one day, preppy/traditional the next, and rustic/shabby chic after that!  How could I possibly settle on just one when all three make up my style and personality?  I found my solution in the Ralph Lauren Home collections.  It was here that I saw how beautiful satin, crystal, and chandeliers could sit perfectly next to rustic plaids and leather, while being accented with just the right amount of leopard print.

I knew that I wanted to incorporate a great deal of lounge seating and furniture rentals, so choosing Darryl & Co. to handle my decor was an easy choice.  Not only did they have an outstanding selection of furniture, (including those amazing dome chairs, rugs, and fireplace) their company also handles linen rentals and floral design as well.  (It’s basically wedding decor one-stop shopping.)  I met with Scott from Darryl & Co. and knew instantly that I was in good hands.  I explained my inspiration and told him I wanted the reception to look more like a furniture showroom or comfortable living room than a typical reception and Scott not only understood what I was going for, he also got excited about doing something a little different.  I told Scott I didn’t want assigned seating, or a room full of identical round tables because I wanted our guests to be relaxed and comfortable,  but I did not specify colors, or flowers, but instead decided to give Scott creative freedom and see what he could come up with.  This ended up being the best wedding decision I made!  (Besides the groom that is…) The Courtyard on St. James was the perfect venue for the “living room feel”  and I really loved that they offered both indoor and outdoor space.

Picking just one theme was hard enough, but trying to settle on just one dress was impossible.  I have experience buying and selling gowns at both the retail and wholesale level and felt like I had seen just about everything which was making it hard to find something that stood out.  Rather than going with the latest trend, I decided to look to the past for classic and timeless inspiration and Grace Kelly seemed the obvious choice.  (I just have to add that this was before a certain princess chose a similar inspiration.)  My Novia d’Art gown was everything I wanted in a ceremony gown, but I was having a hard time picturing myself boogieing on the dance floor in my classy, Grace Kelly dress so I ended up purchasing a Sottero and Midgley at the last minute to serve as my reception dress.

Yes, I LOVE that dress. I see it's by Novia D'Art which I can't find any US retailers. Is it possible to get it in the US somewhere? It's the dress I have been picturing in my head since I got engaged.

gorgeous! and i'm with you about changing your mind so much. my wedding colors changed so many times before i officially picked out the bridesmaids dress and committed!
do you have any tips about the sparklers? do you recommend those long ones over the regular short kind? thanks from a bride to be :)

  5. Taylor says:

Thanks so much! I purchased the dress from Now and Forever Bridal in Houston, TX and I think you should still be able to order it there! As far as sparklers go, I liked that the long ones burned long enough for our guests to line up, so I guess I would go with those, however, I will say that they can be a little scary! Make sure your guest are holding them really high or are further apart than my guest were! :)

SO stunning! I got married at the Courtyard on St. James Place too, and the staff there is incredible. Congratulations, and I LOVE the gown!!

BEAUTIFUL wedding and beautiful bride!! Who did your hair?? It looks AMAZING!

  8. Emily says:

Everything was really lovely, and it's great to see that you went for such a relaxed vibe, and yet achieved such a classic and sophisticated wedding.
The guest book you had is just what I've been imagining. Did it come from your photographer? Or did you order it somewhere?
    Thanks!

I love your dress!!! I looked on the Now and Forever website but it only showed the top part of the dress. On the Novia D'Art website I could only find one like it but it was short. Did you buy yours long?

  10. Taylor says:

Thank you so much! My hair was done partly by The Perfect Face, and styled mostly by a friend, Windi Ward, who owns a salon in the DFW area. My guest book did come from my photographer and it's amazing! It came with a metal cover that had our image on it and which makes for a really neat coffee table book once the wedding is over. Although the dress is short on the Novia d'Art website, Now and Forever Bridal had the full length dress in their store for me to try on and order. (I saw it in one of their ads and made an appt. It was the only dress I tried on and I ordered it that day!) It really is a special dress, the pictures really don't even do it justice! My second dress was fun for dancing, but my first dress is the one I will be hanging on, and hopefully passing down to a daughter, niece, etc. one day!

Taylor was my student in 3rd grade. She was a wonderful child who always had a sophistication and beauty about her even at such a young age. It is so wonderful to see how her grace and elegance have transcended through the years. Congratulations on your beautiful wedding and eloquent thoughts.

  14. Jennifer says:

INLOVE with that dress! I also live in Texas, Houston area. I am definately going to have to atleast try that one on. If you don't mind asking, could you give a price or price range for your Novia D Art dress :)
How was your service with Now & Forever Bridal? such a beautiful wedding!

  15. Taylor says:

Hi there! As far as Now & Forever Bridal goes, I am happy with their service. Make sure and tell them when you make an appt. which dress you are wanting to try on, because if it is on display, you will have to reschedule. Also, make sure you leave yourself at least 8 or 9 months time for the dress to arrive from the time you order it. Mine took a solid 8 months to arrive and I was lucky that customs did not add to that time frame. Now, about the price...I think it was very reasonable, and I think most would agree (especially considering the detail and quality; the pictures don't do it justice) but my mother would cringe if she knew I was discussing such things so publicly, so without going into too much detail, I would suggest you call or make an appt. with the store and I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

  16. Katelyn says:

I was wondering if the Novia D'Art dress had a specific name, so if i went in I could ask them for it?
