Winter Wedding Wonderland

We just had to follow-up yesterday’s feature at Devil’s Thumb Ranch with another of James Christianson’s Colorado weddings … a wintery wonderland that left me in awe.

Katherine and Grant were married in November at the Beaver Creek Chapel in Avon, Colorado. Their reception was held at the Timber Hearth Grille in Cordillera, above Beaver Creek. I suppose when you plan a November wedding in Colorado you might expect snow, but this is just breathtaking. Looking at these photographs, it’s hard to believe Katherine was even chilly! {She found the vintage stole at a thrift shop.}

Winter Inspired Wedding Invitations

A couple of days ago, I got an email from one of my favorite invitation designers, Kalyn of Lilah Paper, with some gorgeous images of a winter inspired invitation that she crafted. Her beautiful invitation actually inspired me to write today’s previous Winter Inspired Weddings post, so I thought I would share the absolutely beautiful invitation!

From Kalyn…

This particular bride was a blast to work with! She was completely open to fun ideas, illustrations and playful verbiage… all the while keeping the main invitation somewhat traditional to appease her parents.

Winter Wedding by Karen Wise, III

Karen just emailed me a few more details from today’s gorgeous Winter Wedding. But first, more of these oh-so-beautiful images…

More details from Karen…

This was Jill and Eric’s second marriage, thus they had their children participating in their wedding. It was just lovely. They had a Ketubah-signing (Jewish marriage contract) and a Chuppah (Jewish arch). It was a very small/short wedding with very little dancing, just about 30-35 guests and a sit-down dinner.

A Winter Wedding by Karen Wise

It was all of 15 degrees in Boston yesterday and my Texas blood does not cope well. But, when I saw this warm and cozy, Winter wedding shot by Karen Wise, I felt instantly better!

Karen has had the pleasure of shooting some of THE most spectacular weddings I have ever seen. Many of them have already been devoured by other blogs and publications, so I don’t want to show them again, but…you absolutely MUST check out her website to get the full Karen Wise experience.

A Winter Wedding, IV

Thank you so much, Rachel, for sharing your absolutely beautiful wedding with all of us! I feel completely inspired by your ideas, your creativity and your thoughtfulness.

Here are a few last pictures from Rachel…

from Rachel…

The day could not have been MORE perfect. We were blown away that evening and overwhelmed by our amazing friends and family. My mom was the one who truly made it happen. She sat and listened to every single thing I wanted and she did it. I am still amazed how everything came together perfectly.

A Winter Wedding, III

I am just so impressed with Rachel and her thoughtful approach to her wedding. Here are a few more images and some wonderful details from Rachel’s Winter wedding…

from Rachel…

We had a total of 9 kids in the wedding. We love kids and especially the ones in our family! My nephew Ethan is the only little boy in the tuxedo that matches the groomsmen and our niece, who was under 3 months old, is the one riding down in the sleigh. I really wanted her to be a part of the day and the only way we could think of getting her down the aisle was to ride in a custom-made sleigh or have my sister carry her along with her bouquet. Lol. We went with the sleigh.

A bit more from Rachel and her gorgeous Winter wedding…

With the exception of my dress and the tuxes, everything in the wedding was handmade. All the branches in the centerpieces and the “snowy” trees came from fallen trees at my husband’s family’s ranch. We hand-flocked them all ourselves and we flocked the branches for the bouquets as well!

I designed the bridesmaid & candle lighter dresses and picked out the beautiful raw silk material down at the LA garment district; that was an exciting part of the planning…being able to pick EXACTLY what I wanted for my bridesmaids instead of settling for an assembly line dress. In addition I designed (or had custom designed) my veil, bracelet and the “snow” girl outfits (which my mom made) .

A Winter Wedding

When Rachel, one of our readers, emailed me the images from her recent Winter wedding…I fell in love. I have always been a huge fan of winter weddings. There is just something so romantic and dreamy about a wedding in the snow with twinkling lights and gorgeous winter palettes. Rachel’s wedding was just that…

Although these pictures really are just a sneak peak of the entire affair, I thought they were a lovely way to introduce this wedding. Rachel has been sweet enough to share with us a few of the details….
