Some of us might dream of having an intimate wedding among the rolling hills of Ireland and some of us might dream of celebrating on the cobblestone streets of France. Few of us would ever even imagine that both could be possible but that was the case for this lucky couple. We featured this sweet duo’s nuptials in their hometown of Cork, Ireland back in April and now we get to show off their beautiful wedding celebration in the South of France. Both affairs were full of adorable details and lots of love all magically captured by Brosnan Photographic. Give into your wanderlust heart and check out the full gallery!

From Brosnan Photographic…Ciara and Rian chose to have a second wedding celebration in the South of France shortly after their first celebration in Ireland. This time they invited more friends and family rather than just their parents for a big celebration. Ciara and Rian chose to meet before the ceremony this time for some photos around the old walled city of Carcassonne before heading to Domaine Gayda. After the outdoor ceremony in the pool house we headed into the vineyard for more photos. The vines were just starting to come up. After dinner we had a private tour and more opportunity for photos in the wine cellar, a special treat!

Birdcage Veils

It seems like every time I turn around, I am falling in love with another wedding style trend. And the birdcage veil is my latest passion. I just think that they add a sense of glamour, of unabashed romance to a wedding dress…

Melody, of Birdcage Veils in Dallas has totally devoted herself to these little pieces of heaven and she’s stopping by today to share some thoughts!

The birdcage veil brings a new but vintage look to the fashion of wedding attire. Reese Witherspoon wore a birdcage veil in the movie ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ in 2002….which we all fell in love with. When a bride asked me to design a birdcage veil just like the one Reese wore in the movie, I scoured the stores until I finally located a netting source which would help me to duplicate this look.

After posting some photos on my web site, a few brave brides decided to step out of the traditional attire and walk down the aisle wearing netting instead of tulle over their face. Naturally, grooms, bridesmaids and families’ reaction was mixed as they had not seen this bold new style. And yet, once a few brides began wearing birdcage veils, brides from both the east and west coast liked what they saw and began requesting birdcage veils more and more. Requests from the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia seemed to be next to request this unique new style. I now shipped birdcage veils to every state and to about 25 countries across the globe.

Birdcage veils or hat veils work best with trumpet or mermaid style dresses. Any dress that is lace is complimented with the French net look of a birdcage veil. The birdcage can be as simple or as dramatic as the bride wants depending on the overall look that she is going for. Plus, photographers love to capture images of brides in birdcage veils…they are just so chic!

To Veil or Not To Veil…I get this question a lot from readers, so I thought I would weigh in and see what you guys thought!

Question 3: I am wearing a vintage style dress (Pronovias design Castor which you can see on their site) with the high necked jacket and the low v back. I have shoulder-blade length straight hair and had originally planned to wear it in a low bun at the nape of my neck with a large ivory silk flower to one side as the allegra one illustrated here.

However, I’m starting to think that I won’t be a ‘bride’ without a veil… My Mum says that as I’m getting married in a barn in a cocktail dress, it’s not necessary, and it will detract from the dress, but I’m not sure.

Can you or your readers suggest a solution? Do any readers have anecdotes about wishing they had worn a veil or deciding not to and feeling ok about it? I thought a little 1950s blusher might be a solution but fear that with the high collar, it will all be a bit busy around my face…

What do you guys think? Any tips for this bride-to-be?
