One of the first names I learned when I first started writing for the LBB Blog was Laura Hooper. I’ve known, pretty much forever, what a true artist she is …

I have to share one of SMP’s Backstage secrets … my father was an artist. For those of you unfamiliar with Backstage, it’s Abby’s new venue for sharing all of her insider trade secrets. Plus a little personal info. One of HER secrets is that her grandfather was a terrific artist. So when either of us use the term artist, we don’t use it lightly. We mean it, from the bottom of our hearts.

So, back to Laura. Visit any wedding website … any wedding blog … any of the top designers’, planners’, stationers’, photographers’ websites and you’ll see Laura’s gorgeous work. Her calligraphy, designs and wedding maps have become synonymous with the best of the best. Nationally and internationally …

Cardgirl Custom Invitations: Kelly & Nicholas at Beaver Creek

Nessa Sander is the creative designer behind Cardgirl Invitations, one of Style Me Pretty’s fabulous stationery vendors! On her website she says, ” … when I was planning my own wedding in Portland, Oregon, I searched high and low for an invitation I loved, or a designer who could create an invitation to match my style and my wedding. I wasn’t satisfied with anything I found, so I ended up designing my own invitations and stationery.”

And thus, her new career began! Nessa now designs custom invitations out of Lake Oswego, Oregon and has a consultation studio in San Francisco, servicing clients across the country. Whatever type or style of invitation suite you can imagine, she can help you create!

The amazing Laura Hooper, Little Black Book calligrapher designed the fantastic map (above) and did the calligraphy for this beautiful suite of wedding invitations and reception pieces! Wedding Invitations

I have to say, I knew from the minute I received Erich and Debra’s save the date, that this wedding was going to be good. They had a vintage Palm Beach postcard replicated with their save the date printed on the back side. It was absolutely adorable…

When the invitations came, I knew instantly that the wedding would be filled with cute personality and fun little touches. They were designed by ephemera press with pale yellow and slate ink letterpressed on pretty white card stock. Check out the wording, it’s the best part…

IF you can’t see the text, it reads:

Debra Ellyn Brodsky and Erich Beeton Shigley / Together with their families / Invite you to share in the celebration of their marriage / As Debra becomes a Red Sox fan and Erich learns to use the dishwasher…(it goes on with the date and time from here)

How cute is that? I always encourage brides to think creatively when it comes to their invitations, but this is the first that I have actually received where they did just that!

If the save the date and the invitations weren’t cute enough, Debra had the fabulous Stephanie of Couture Maps design these adorable maps of the sculpture garden where the ceremony took place.

(Quick Note, there was a typo on the original post. Betsy Dunlap was the calligrapher but Stephanie crafted these maps)

Don’t you just love??? In the words of Rachel Zoe…Bananas!!
