Oh, Spring! How I do love thee…your flowers, your picnics in the park, your umbrellas hanging upside down from the sky…Ummm, wait a minute, let me rephrase that. Oh Wednesday, Inc., EE Photography, and Amanda Marie Portraits, how I love you all! The way you capture the light just so, how you adorn your aisle with lace and confetti, how you style every little detail down to the dogger-doodle’s ribbon…I could go on and on! From Wednesday, Inc. We embraced the approach of spring with vintage umbrellas and a handcrafted shower to create a scene that felt very dream-like and intimate, while still maintaining a strong sense of play. The ceremony was held in a sophisticated loft in downtown Fort Worth. Dramatic windows offered perfect natural light for our afternoon ceremony, and umbrellas hovered above the scene to offer a delicate touch of whimsy. The setting for the reception could not have been more picturesque! Our cozy table sat on top of a hill in a park overlooking the Fort Worth skyline. It was undeniably a site for sore eyes!
Teacups overflowing with ranunculus and french tulips doubled as table decor and favors for the guests. The flowers, provided by Kate Foley Design, were truly my favorite part of the day and tied everything together perfectly.

DIY Wedding Favors by Posh Paperie and Jackie Wonders

Our absolutely lovely DIY experts are back today with the cutest idea ever. DIY Lemon Drop Favors. In perfect little jars. Dreamed up by the adorable Elizabeth and Karrie from Posh-Paperie and photographed by Jackie Wonders, I’ve fallen a little bit in love with these beauties. Which doesn’t surprise me, seeing that Elizabeth, Karrie and Jackie are responsible for some of my all time favorite DIY projects like these yo-yo’s that we’re crafting for a friend’s wedding next weekend and these a-freaking-dorable pinwheels.

SO CUTE, right? Well as it turns out they aren’t just cute. They are insanely simple and have so many more uses than a wedding favor, so make sure to pass the idea along to your friends and fam. They would be adorable favors for just about any party, cute hostess gifts, cute birthday party gifts. Fill them with different things and you have a little project that has some serious versatility.

Materials
Lemon Drops
Mini Jar with Latch
Vintage Bottlecaps
Ribbon
Scissors
Parchment Paper

Step 1: Fill jars with lemon drops.

Step 2: Cut out a small square piece of parchment paper for top “wrapper.”

Step 3: Secure with Ribbon. Tie a bow.

Step 4: Glue vintage bottle caps or vintage topper of your choice on top of bottle.

DIY Favor Bags by Twig & Thistle

And speaking of fabulous DIY details, I am so excited to share this adorable project for DIY Gift Bags that Kathleen of Twig & Thistle designed exclusively for SMP readers. It’s too cute to resist and I am pretty sure that I am going to be making these time and time again. Kathleen is behind some of our all time most popular DIY features including these adorable hot cocoa bags and these perfect favor boxes. You can check out all of her goodies on her etsy shop, as well as some pretty fab ideas on her blog, perfect for the chic crafty bride.

Materials
Ink Jet Color Printer
5×7 White Paper Bags
Treats

Instructions

1. Download the bag graphic and type in names and wedding date in spaces provided. Follow the directions in the PDF for printing with an Ink Jet Printer. If you don’t have an Ink Jet or if your printer doesn’t allow you to print odd formats, you can print directly onto sticker paper (found at office supply stores) and post apply to the bag.

2. Help maintain freshness and keep sweets from leaving oil stains on the paper bag by lining with a glassine envelope.

3. Add a little more detail to the bags and scallop the top with a pair of pinking shears or rotary cutter.

4. Fill bag with treats and serve!

DIY Candy Poppers by Posh Paperie and Jackie Wonders

Last month we debuted THE cutest DIY project on the planet…perfectly sweet fabric yo-yo’s that the adorable duo at Posh Paperie designed. Well lucky for us, the girls along with the fab photographer Jackie Wonders, have agreed to contribute monthly projects to SMP and we’re back today with their latest little lovely. And it just might even be better than the last. Actually, I think it’s a tie for cuteness.

I mean, COME ON! How completely and totally adorable are these Candy Poppers. Perfectly placed on each dinner plate, they are that little bit of whimsy, little bit of sweetness that every wedding needs. Oh and did I mention that they are insanely easy. Just follow these super simple instructions and voila!

Materials
tissue paper roll
double stick tape
scissors
1.75 x 5 piece of cardstock
ribbon
page of crepe paper
candy

Step One: Place double stick tape on crepe paper put tissue paper roll on tape and roll across crepe paper apply tape on end of crepe paper and secure.

Step Two: Twist one end of crepe paper and secure with ribbon, tie in bow.

Step Three: Fill roll with candy.

Step Four: Twist other end and secure with ribbon, tie in bow.

Step Five: Fold cardstock and cut on an angle, to create a “flag” look write message and attach tag to finished roll.

Gift Wrapping Inspiration from Grey Likes Weddings

This is possibly the most gorgeous feature ever. I am always head over heels for anything that Summer of Grey Likes Weddings does, but this one just might take the cake. She’s put together some of the most lovely holiday gift wrap inspirations you’ve ever seen and aside from being perfect for the coming weeks, they are also pretty incredible ways to package up wedding favors. Oh and not to fret…we are including some awesome holiday tags that you can download, as well as a super cute DIY project a little later today.

The ADORABLE little tags that are gracing the packages can actually be downloaded right here. MaeMae Paperie is the talent behind the little gems and we couldn’t be happier to share. Just print them out on 80 lb card stock (that can be found at your local office store or at Paper Source) and voila. A simple package turned total gorgeousness.

The photographs were snapped by Jenny Liu, who we love, and the Calligraphy was done by Victoria Hoke Lane of Calligraphos Ink. SUCH a talented little team of vendors and lucky for us, the fun isn’t over yet. We have lots more from the shoot coming up next.

Fall Wedding from Gourmet Galley

With Thanksgiving right around the corner who can’t help thinking about food today?? Well actually, I think about food most everyday, but we thought this was an especially appropriate post to share with you given that more than a few of you probably have Thursday’s feast on your mind.

This gorgeous Connecticut wedding sent to us by Gourmet Galley is not only filled with beautiful flowers and sweet little details, but is likely to induce some serious stomach growling…

Plus, if you’re feeling at all unsure about what to cook on Thanksgiving, Chelsea and Matt’s menu may be just the delicious inspiration you’ve been looking for…

“meat and potatoes” ~ aged dry rubbed new york strip steaks with caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and house made steak sauce, horseradish mashed potatoes, sautéed zucchini and summer squash.

“roast and toast” ~ provence roasted split chickens with toasted israeli couscous, roasted vegetables with fresh herbs, sautéed green beans with cherry tomatoes, slivered almonds, and garlic.

“soup” ~ tomato and asparagus bisque, served cool ~or~ roasted corn and crab chowder with basil oil.

“salad” ~ organic field greens with crumbled feta, black olives, cucumbers and a honey balsamic vinaigrette or spinach salad with mushrooms, red onion, slivered almonds and a warm bacon cider vinaigrette.

Stunning flowers, sweet little bird details and a completely drool-worthy cake. Yep, I’m in heaven.

This couple really thought about the whole feel of the day, from beginning to end… everything from the bride’s fabulous bouquet and the sweet place cards to the luscious tabletops and happy bellies of all of their guests. Gourmet Galley created a spread to ensure everyone’s total satisfaction…and yes, now I’m hungry.

Homemade Pie Favors

Okay! Now on to the pies themselves. This was probably the easiest thing that I have ever done and coming from the world’s worst baker (I swear, I’m not exaggerating)…that really says a lot. I fully admit that I cheated and bought pre-made pie dough. For one round, I made the filling myself but then I discovered that they actually make pre-made pie filling, so you know I jumped right on that bandwagon. Sad, I know. But they turned out so stinking cute, who cares!

Materials

Pie Dough (pre-made or homemade)
Pie Filling (we went with Cherry, starting with this recipe then using the pre-made stuff instead)
Disposable Mini Pie Tins
Red and Pink String (or whatever color you want)
Bamboo Spoons from Green Feet
White Bakery Boxes (6″ found at Michaels)
Red cocktail napkins (or whatever color you want)
Pie Tags by Grapevine Invitations

Instructions

1. Make your mini pies. Leaving this part totally up to you! For cheaters even bigger than me, I spotted some cute mini pies at the grocery store over the weekend.

2. Using both colors of your string, wrap the pies like a package, tying your spoon onto the top and making a cute little bow.

3. Tuck your unfolded napkin inside your bakery box, then place the pie on top. You can either slide the tag right inside so that it’s a complete “look” when your guests open it OR you can use more string to tie up your bakery box threading your tag on to your string before you tie the knot.

Voila!

Backyard Elegance From Red Ribbon Studio

And now, the second of Red Ribbon Studio’s elegant weddings …

Jessie and Chris were married in her parents backyard ~ at the local polo fields in Cummings, Iowa. A little bit country (as in a big red barn) and beaucoups of charm!

Love, love, love the mixture of flowers in the bouquets and centerpieces!!

This table setting may be one of my all time favorites. I LOVE the gentle and warm color palette of the flowers mixed with the whimsy of the pickled okra!

There were many homespun elements. Tables named for seasonal vegetables, pickled beans & beets that Jessie and her mom canned, homemade strawberry and pepper jelly … all for guests who dined under a white tent on a perfect autumn night.

So, you see, elegance is defined in many ways ~ casual or classic, inside or out ~ it’s simply ALL in the details!
