From Jessica Country Flowers…Their wedding featured many vintage accents.  The bride and groom used old wooden doors (with glass panes) to hand paint their guests tables/seating chart.  It was very original and decorated with wispy greens and flower blooms.  We used vintage suitcases stacked up for their envelopes.

Ryan Designs added stunning chandeliers to the interior of the barn.  Which added that extra sparkle.  We used vintage Depression glass tea cups for many loose blooms of garden roses and peonies to float in.  Her centerpieces were an eclectic mix of various vases and vintage glassware.  The reception featured some small round tables and a few long rectangle, family-style tables. Ryan Designs also graced the barn door entrance with organic muslin fabric to soften the entrance.  Most of the flowers consisted of white garden roses and white peonies with a slight pop of pale pink for color. Anna’s bouquet was a stunning mixture of white ranunculus, white peonies, white garden roses, dusty miller leaves and such.  We wrapped it with an ivory ribbon, then Anna added a Tiffany blue color ribbon her mother had embroidered over top of that.  (which was the same embroidery from her mother’s wedding dress)  That perfect added touch of personalization! The groom surprised Anna with a gift the morning of the wedding.  He had selected a Kendra Scott necklace for her to wear.  So romantic!  The groom dressed in a dark grey suit, blue tie and white sneakers.  So cute!

Their menu was incredible.  Because their ceremony was held on site at the Webb Barn (under a big maple tree), guests were treated to freshly popped Maple Kettle Corn from Lamothe’s Sugar House and refreshment of lavender lemonade and mango iced tea which was created by Emily’s Catering Group.  Appetizers were sea scallops wrapped in bacon with horseradish sugar glaze, sweet potato fries served in bamboo cones with basil salt and garlic mayonnaise, baby lamb chops and pizza with caramelized onions, blue cheese and mozzarella.  For dinner, guests were served a duo plate which featured Chipotle marinated fillet of beef on a bed of Chipotle caramelized onions alongside herb seared sea bass topped with sweet & tangy dry cranberry salsa.  Each dish was served with mouth-watering Mascarpone Risotto and seasonal vegetables.

As guests departed they were given “old-fashioned” miniature donuts dusted with sugar in individual wax paper bags.  Each bag of donuts was served with an individual chocolate milk.  The perfect ending to a perfect night!  With Emily’s Catering group (and really all the vendors involved) absolutely NO detail was overlooked.  Everywhere you turned there was a ton of detail.

A few words from the chic bride, Nicole:

Our wedding was exactly everything we wanted: small, unique, part traditional, part modern and intimate.  We wanted it to feel like a garden party and everything fell exactly into place.  We looked at a lot of nontraditional venues in Connecticut.  The minute we set foot on the grounds of the Webb Barn in Wethersfield Connecticut, we knew we found our spot.  We got married under a huge tree on the lawn, had cocktail hour on the patio and dinner and dancing was in the barn.  The grounds were so green at beginning of May and our guests loved walking around and having room to move.

Tony and I have been together for ten years so we had plenty of time to figure out the exact wedding we wanted.  We knew we wanted a unique menu and Emily’s Catering did a fantastic job.  We had a bar-b-que menu, which ended up being a buffet because there was a grill station.  Guests were able to order steak, chicken, scallop kabobs, lobsters and/or grilled veggies!  There was also a buffet of summer salads.  We had cupcakes for dessert along with a shortcake station. There was so much food for 40 people!

The music was also unique.  We knew we wanted a band and decided a swing band would be very different.  Joe Holmes Swing Band far exceeded our expectations.  They played wonderful music all night that not only allowed our guests to join us on the dance floor but it was also wonderful music to enjoy with the conversation.  They also provided the music during the ceremony and cocktail hour.  They even accommodated our special request for the recessional song: “Linus and Lucy” from The Peanuts.

We also had many small touches that really made the wedding “ours”.  Tony’s (and now my J) last name is Chick so we decided to have a “Chick” theme for most of our paper stuff.  Jen from Little Lady Studios was amazing to work with.  She created everything from our Save-the-Dates and invitations to our programs and guest cards.  The “Chicks” were adorable and done very tastefully without being too themey. The yellow and sage green from the paper products were weaved throughout the entire wedding especially in our flowers from Just for You Floral Design.  I also got a lot of our small touches from Etsy.  Our “The Chicks” chair sashes were from MadameMonogram.  Our ring bowl was from Palomasnest and our cupcake toppers were from goosegrease

I could go on about our wedding for days.  I loved of every second of planning and am so thrilled to have our beautiful pictures from Jane and Mike Shauck of Iris Photo.  They captured every moment without us even feeling like they were there.  I will always remember the day as one where I never stopped smiling and thanks to them, I have pictures I will treasure forever showcasing our special day.

Love it all. The pretty, pretty flowers tucked in mason jars. The family style dinner, where guests can simple reach across the table and toast the beautiful day. The rustic elegance paired with the undeniably gorgeous style. Every little bit of this wedding is simply lovely!

I usually try to feature all of the really pretty, really steal-able details from a wedding. But this one had so many, I didn’t get to share them all. And this beautiful pair…did just that.

From the beautiful bride…My florist was my cousin, Moira Thompson. She lives in Cambridge, MA and is just starting her career in the floral industry. She’s a genius. She sent us a flower proposal (because I told her she could do whatever she wants and to just go nuts) and it was literally like she had reached into my mind and created a vision that I didn’t even know was there!

The name cards my mom and I hand-wrote. They were all stamped with clovers (Irish), olive branches (Italian), tropical flowers (South Africa), and daisies (Denmark) which are the main countries of Niels and my origin. Instead of favors, we made donations to three charities – The Jacob Riis Settlement House, which Niels’ father is chairman of the board of, The John J. Gale Scholarship, which is named after my grandfather and given to the senior at HPHS who has the highest GPA in U.S. History, and Art Start, which is a non-profit art program for troubled youth that I volunteer at. So, we wrote on all of the name cards “In lieu of a favor, a donation has been made in your name to __________”, alternating with each charity.

Ahhh, so beautiful. So much more on the way!

From Carla...Callie and Niels are an amazing couple with such beautiful energy and their entire day really reflected that – from the tiny little floral and photo details, the beautiful invitations and programs, to including their parents who had gotten married at the same location (The Webb Barn) 30 years ago. Absolutely beautiful.

And before we really dive head first into the beauty of  the day, I wanted to share the awesome invitations that Callie’s sister, Adrienne, designed just for this affair. Adrienne is going to be opening her very own print shop in the coming months and if these are any indication of her style, she is sure to be a HUGE success!
