We are both lovers of jazz and found an awesome band that played classic jazz hits during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.  I walked down the aisle to Miles Davis’ “It Never Entered My Mind.”  We couldn’t decide on a song for the first dance for the longest time and Ken insisted that he pick it.  I was very hesitant at first, but I decided to trust him because the wedding was only 2 days away.  After our welcome speech to our guests, he had three young guests join us on the dance floor and read to everyone his version of our fairy tale.  Our first dance was “Someday My Prince Will Come” and also by Miles Davis.  He really took me by surprise and I couldn’t stop crying (some of our guests too).  So it really did feel like a fairy tale…

SWOON. Well, the gorgeousness doesn’t end here. I have saved some of the VERY best, absolutely gorgeous, ridiculously lovely details for our Style Circle Details Feature. The wedding was held in Malibu at the Sunset Restaurant. And just as you would expect from a couple this chic, the wedding was all about style. The talented team at White Lilac made sure that every flower was perfect, every tablescape stunning. And, it’s this perfect balance of city sophistication and a relaxed beach vibe that I love so much. Bottom line, it’s total awesomeness.

Take the Little Black Dress for example. Aside from the fact that your bridesmaids will love you, the LBD is such a classic look for your maids. One that you will always look back on as being incredibly chic, incredibly sophisticated. So for today, I thought we’d take the Little Black Dress and see just how many “styles” we can come up with!

The first is about as chic as it gets…the perfect LBD, paired with shots of green and white. It’s modern, it’s fresh and it’s so very “right now”…

I woke up this morning thinking about chocolate. Chocolate cake, actually.

My problem is…I have become completely and unabashedly addicted to the food/life/love/everything blog, Orangette. Last night, I read her post about chocolate cake and low and behold, I can’t stop thinking about chocolate cake. So I figure the next best thing to actually baking and devouring an entire cake, would be to blog about it, right??

I am going nuts over the chic concoctions that the Vanilla Bakeshop in Los Angeles is creating…

I also love the pretty cakes that Jen’s Desserts is cooking up in Seattle…contemporary and understated. Perfect inspiration in my opinion!

Okay, I lied. There really isn’t a “next best thing” to eating and devouring a chocolate cake!
