I moved to Argentina after college to learn Spanish and gain some work experience abroad. Little did I know that I would meet my future husband there and about 4 years later be planning my wedding! Since Matias is from Argentina and I am from Chicago, the first thing we had to do was choose our wedding destination. We wanted to get married in a meaningful place for both of us, while making it an accessible destination for guests from all over the world. Choosing Indian Creek Country Club in Miami was perfect. Plus, it was especially meaningful since we had gotten engaged there the previous year on New Year’s Eve!

To say we took a big risk with the weather is an understatement. The ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner reception were all al-fresco which is not an easy task in Miami! The most important thing to us was to mix both of our cultures and traditions into the wedding. I said my vows in Spanish and Matías said his in English so that families and friends on both sides could feel as though they participated in and witnessed our commitment to each other. To incorporate the local Miami culture, for the cocktail hour we had a Mojito bar and for the dinner we chose to do Indian Creek’s famous Seafood Buffet chock full of sushi, lobster and Alaskan king crab claws. After dinner guests enjoyed a full dessert spread including a gelato bar for our Argentine guests. Everyone was bid “adios” with a little burlap bag stamped “Viva Los Novios” with an alfajor, a traditional Argentine cookie, inside.

Working for Style Me Pretty and being inspired daily by different weddings and talented vendors made choosing a theme and color palette seem impossible! First I found my dress from the incredible Australian designer Johanna Johnson and knew the moment I saw it that it was what I wanted. SO much so, that I ordered it from Australia without ever even trying it on! The dress ended up really setting the tone for how I wanted the wedding to feel. We knew that we wanted the wedding to be elegant yet relaxed, vintage yet not too theme-y. The paper suite included an art deco-inspired shell logo, which was incorporated in every detail. We ended up with a tropical palette using corals, peaches, and champagnes and Parrish Florists went above and beyond in executing our vision. The vibrant arrangements accented by candles, lanterns and mercury glass were definitely show-stoppers without being over the top.

Our photographers and friends Jonny and Michelle from Paper Antler are incredible. We never worried once about how our photos would turn out because we felt so totally comfortable with them the entire day. The photos have a nostalgic and natural feeling which is exactly what we wanted. Jonny and Michelle are not only talented photographers, they are a philanthropic team who have found a way use wedding photography to fight human trafficking. Beginning in 2012, the amazing duo will embark on The Fifty Nifty. They will hit the road for an entire year, photographing weddings in every state (plus stops in Canada and the Bahamas) aiming to raise $50,000 to support the non-profit organization She Dances. Future brides – look no further for your wedding photographer!

The most incredible part of the day was feeling all the love around us. We were truly humbled by our guests who flew from five different continents to share this special day with us.

From Three Ring Media…Wesley and Allison are both Howard alums. And while they both knew of each other during school, they had no relationship. But Wesley had taken notice of Allison, and he had begun to set his sights on her. A friend of his ran interference at a party so he could get to know her a little bit better. At the end of the conversation Wesley had convinced Allison to have dinner with him at a Ruby Tuesdays. They talked for hours, sharing their thoughts on family, faith and love and eventually closed the place down.

It was very soon that they had come to realize it was time to close down all other options, and focus their romantic pursuits on the other. So while Wesley was in Atlanta for a teaching conference, he asked to have dinner with her parents. And at another Ruby Tuesday’s he told them how much he had fallen for their daughter and asked for their blessing to marry her.

With Allison’s parents on board, Wesley plotted a Thanksgiving day proposal, so her entire family could witness the beginning of their new life together.

From Shannon Wilson of Table 6 Productions: Melissa and Andrew wanted an elegant beachside affair.  We worked together to come up with a modern pallet of cornflower blue, mango, and white.  We wanted the event to boast a Florida flair without appearing beach casual.  So in other terms this wedding was beach-chic!!  With long feasting tables that ran down the Beach club at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, FL, to the amazing ceremony arch – they wanted their guests to feel like they were attending a formal ballroom wedding but on the beautiful white sandy beaches of the west coast of Florida.  We decided on mixing small elements and tall elements of florals that ran down each feasting table with custom menu cards, place cards, and white glove 4 course plated dinner.  The guests danced the night away to the amazing Clint Wiley band while they watched the sunset over the ocean with the gorgeous view of the gulf of Mexico.  The night didn’t end there, they continued the celebration downstairs inside the beach club for a spectacular late night “after glow” party!  Cheers and Kudos to Melissa and Andrew!!

From the Bride…Bryan and I met in one of the most beautiful places, and in one of the most unconventional ways- on a safari in Cape Town, South Africa. Amanda was serving with a nonprofit in Cape Town via the University of Georgia in the summer of 2009. As it turns out, the founders of this nonprofit are college friends of Bryan’s, and thus invited him to join our group for a safari to Kruger National Park.  Little did we know that while serendipitously sitting next to each other on the safari cart we would be captivated by each other during that first game ride, and inseparable until we left Cape Town. People say that because of our individual passion for travel, it’s no surprise that we had to go half way across the world to meet each other.

The inspiration for the wedding was vintage 1940′s, with a focus on rich colors. With blueberry and deep reds in flowers, dining decor and abundant candle-light, this black-tie affair transformed the Four Season’s Atlanta into a classy and intimate environment.

From Table 6 Productions…We really wanted to give her wedding the feeling that guests had stepped back into the 40′s but at the same time since the couple is from New York we wanted there to be very chic elements that reflected their modern lifestyle in New York. When Amanda was shopping for a dress she had a set idea in her mind before even trying a dress on.  From a young age Amanda loved The Sound of Music  Since being a little girl Amanda imagined herself in a wedding dress similar to Julie Andrews in Sound of Music.

From Table 6 … The Stop Motion Video project was the brainchild of the ever-talented  photographer, Erica Loeks. With Heather & Derek being such a fun, in  love, and up-for-anything kind of couple, they were the perfect subjects!

We met online, and later found out that we worked for the same company at the same time, graduated from the same program on the same day from the same college, and buried our grandfathers about 30 yards apart. There were so many times we should have met, but I guess fate was waiting for the right time!

The summer before we were engaged we kept ending up at outdoor festivals/events where there was always a rickety carnival type Ferris Wheel. I always wanted to ride the Ferris wheel for two reasons. First, it’s the only ride I don’t get sick on and second, there’s just something cute and vintagely romantic about them. Derek kept saying we should wait on go on a better one that was more stable and not assembled overnight, and that had a better view.

When Derek was in Chicago for a couple weeks on business, I flew out for the weekend. He did a good job of keeping quiet for two and a half days and then on Sunday when we went to Navy Pier, we rode the Ferris Wheel. He asked me to marry him at the top of it. He said “I’d get down on one knee, but it’s not safe in a Ferris Wheel cart!”

We picked the Profile Event Center because it had an old Hollywood style, but with modern amenities, and seemed to fit our vision so well. The inspiration for our wedding was Vintage Glam using the colors navy blue (for Navy Pier), ivory and gray. Handmade details were important to us and we had help from so many people to make it come true!

Music was a huge part of our wedding too. We did not use any traditional music. I walked down the aisle to Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love,” as it was a song that Derek had said made him think of me. As you can see, we tried to incorporate the most personal of touches into our day. My sister did all the design work for our invitations, save the dates, programs and other paper goods. It was so fun to have her be such a big part of it.

My grandmother made her famous marzipans that she only makes for graduations and weddings. I’ve always been obsessed with them and told her that I was going to stage a fake wedding just to have some, but luckily I didn’t have to. We all helped make them,  so Derek and I learned how to make them to keep the tradition alive someday. My grandfather passed away the month before the wedding, and so my Grandma lended me a special brooch he had bought her to tie onto my bouquet. That way, he was holding my hand while I walked down the aisle.

Michael and I love the outdoors and once we saw the Woodend we knew that’s where we wanted to get married. Like many outdoor brides I was crazy anxious about the weather. In the mid Atlantic, the summers are very hot and humid the days leading up to our wedding were stifling hot but thanks to Mother Nature the weather was absolutely perfect! Low humidity and in the mid 80′s. With the weather on our side and our top notch wedding planner, Ashley Summers our wedding day was the most calm and peaceful day I have experienced in a long time.When it came to our wedding I had a vision, but I had a terrible time trying to explain it. I think because it was more than just a vision it was a feeling. Therefore, we just went with everything that we loved! The day of our wedding, our 115 guests gathered in the tree grove for the ceremony enjoying cans of Sofia, raspberry lemonade and water. Our stationary designer, Rebecca Shriver designed program fans to help keep guest cool.  Michael has a love for music so having our friend Ira play meaningful songs was very important to us. Michael walked down the aisle to Simple Man by Shinedown and I walked down to the acoustics of Kenny Chesney’s Old Blue Chair. Also, as a teacher it was important to me to include my love for children’s literature into the ceremony so we have some of the children read exerts of the Velveteen Rabbit as a reading. After the ceremony, guests walked up the tree lined path to mansion portico where servers handed out ice cold towels, Mango Mojitos and yummy hor dourves. During cocktails, guests signed our guestbook which was an old rocking chair that I painted light blue.The reception was held inside the mansion spanning over three different rooms. The great hall featured our live band and the dance floor while guests dined outside under the tent covered patio, the bar, cocktail tables and large ottomans filled the side room. Our wedding was magical and we are so thankful to all of our family and friends who love and support us!

from the lovely ladies at Table 6 Productions …

Since the ceremony took place in the “Loo Family Wing” AKA the Art Gallery of the Colorado Fine Arts Center, we were unable to bring in any flowers or décor because of the surrounding artwork of this room. Therefore, we decided that Tracy would walk down the aisle with a button bouquet, purchased from Etsy’s RBK Creations.

Their son, Myles, escorted his mom down the aisle {… so sweet} …

Tracy LOVES to surprise people and so when a friend of their’s wound up marrying them … everyone was …. well … surprised!

Paul is from South Africa and Tracy from Colorado Springs. They are avid bikers, so it was especially important to them to include lots of bicycle and “South African” details (think Protea flowers on the “cake centerpieces”) throughout the wedding!

To incorporate the button theme throughout the wedding, we put buttons on top of the programs and made button table numbers as well. Their officiant {and close friend}, even made a “wheel of objection” that he spun prior to them saying their vows! Luckily, it did not land on “objection”!  They read their own version of Dr. Seuss vows and even had their son read from “The Owl and The Pussy Cat”.

Following the Ceremony guests were lead down the hall for cocktail hour which began with a surprise Flamenco performance. Their Reception tables were two long banquet tables, each seating 30 people. Their escort cards hung from a bicycle wheel and the reception tables had “cake centerpieces” , which was a request from the Bride who didn’t even want to see the cakes until the day of! I had to design 6 cake centerpieces and their wedding cake, so that this would be…what else but a surprise on their wedding day! Their table numbers (made from buttons) were displayed from iron bicycles that I discovered at a local craft store. Their guestbook was a large white blank canvas where they wanted guests to write and draw their well wishes so that they could hang the canvas in their living room. At the end of the night, guests were sent home with cookies (from their favorite local bakery) and milk that had a sticker on the milk carrier that said “we hope you had a wheelie good time” love Paul and Tracy!
