So I didn’t know if I should name this submission Amenity and Adam’s backyard wedding, or Amenity and Adam’s hip East Side wedding, or just one of the sweetest weddings I have ever photographed. To say it was DYI wouldn’t cover all the facts as well. It was more of a “Do it Community” event. Family and friends helped out in all sorts of ways from making the invitations and the beautiful candies, to setting up the tables and creating the sign in book that Miles, their son, decorated.

Bicycles were a big part of the day. Many guests arrived on them as well as the ring bearer and officiant. The wedding party, adorned in friend made hats, walked across the street from the neighbors yard ringing bells announcing the arrival of the bride and her father. The ceremony took place on the front porch of their newly, groom painted, pink bungalow style house. Dogs roamed freely, a DJ set up in the backyard, and their oh so hip and artsy friends, dressed in their east austin summer finest, danced and ate cupcakes, (again made by a friend).

First up is Julie and Ryan’s San Antonio Riverwalk wedding from this past October. The best wedding month in Texas!

On the Alesi’s blog, Stella says she has a theory. Her theory is that part of being a great wedding photographer is having the ability to attract great clients. And that, my friends is what we are hoping to do with Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book Blog! Developing relationships between the LBB vendors and the SMP readers. That’s what it’s all about!

She goes on to tell us a little about Julie and Ryan ~ how fun loving and creative they are, how lovingly they treated each other that day.

They were married at the Southwest School of Art and Craft alongside the riverwalk.

This one was sent to me by the fabulous Brian and Stella Alesi out of Austin…

Leslie Nairn and Tommy Erwin were married this past May at Lakeway Resort in Lakeway, Texas. Since it’s often so hot in May in Texas, the couple decided to have both the ceremony and the reception indoors so their guests could just sit back and enjoy themselves….

Here are a few fun tidbits from Brian and Stella…

Courtney and Martin were married this summer at Courtney’s family home. This was a cool wedding for a number of reasons…

1. the bride and groom were super cool.

Martin plays saxophone in a number of bands such as Antibalas, Ocote Soul Sounds and TV on the Radio. Courtney is a grad student studying women’s studies. Both travel the globe.

2. they did everything for this wedding.

They prepared all the food, created the table centerpieces and made the favors, candles and buttons with the Osram Ne Nsoromma symbol, a moon and star symbol of love, faithfulness and harmony.

3. they had a pinata for the many kids in attendance. so super cool.

4. they jumped the broom!
