From Kelly Lorenz Imagery… June 11th, 2011 was more than two-and-a-half years in the making.  With an extraordinarily long engagement, each detail was hand picked.  ”Modern Boston” was the theme the couple chose to hone in on; the State Room showed off their magnificent city and harbor views, and David Tutera executed a modern feel for the reception, with a crisp-white ethereal atmosphere for the ceremony.

The bride and groom wanted a formal occasion, with warm and personal touches everywhere- The couple was married by the same family friend who married the bride’s parents almost 30 years before. The bride’s something old was the handkerchief she carried in her pocket- constructed of chantilley lace from her own mother’s wedding gown (she had one made for her mother and grandmother to carry as well); an old bumble pin adorned the bride’s bouquet- given by her grandfather to her grandmother decades ago, and the groom wore the bride’s late grandfather’s diamond and sapphire cuff links to honor his memory.

One of the most special and fun pieces of the reception was dancing.  The bride and her father danced to “Brown Eyed Girl,” a song that they would always dance together to at family weddings when the bride was a little girl.  Both the bride’s and groom’s parents took ballroom dance lessons to gear up for the big day.  Not only did they dance the night away, but swapped partners- groom’s mom with father-of-the-bride, bride’s mom with father-of-the-groom- it was a blast for the wedded couple to watch!

The one thing the couple created themselves was the ceremony.  Wanting a secular ceremony with a focus on their love of family and each other, the couple choose to have the groom’s brothers read a poem, and perform a favorite song (the bride’s brother was a groomsmen).  The couple also performed a “salt ceremony,” combining salt to signify their love lasting as long as it took to identify each partner’s grains, and then ending the wedding ceremony with each parent giving a blessing to the couple and looking on as they were pronounced and had their first kiss.

They were married on August 8th, 2008. Marisa & Jeremy took advantage of this special date by celebrating their wedding in beautiful  downtown Boston!
