From Elysium Productions…Danielle & Seth wanted a very unique wedding so they booked a super unique designer and venue, Rancho Las Lomas, complete with parrots and tigers and an orange grove.  They are both huge music lovers so the designer incorporated music sheets into the backdrop, table cards, etc. She also included other unique items including hand-drawn silhouettes of the couple!  There are so many amazing details that you have to watch this video a few times to even see them all.  It was so beautiful!  It was a traditional Jewish wedding and it was an amazing party!

Please note, we kept our bags without names on them, as when we created them, we weren’t sure how we wanted to use them. To complete the seating card DIY, you’ll need to write in your guests names above the number. If you want to use the scalloped hole punch, we’ve allowed enough room on the template for you to do that. Otherwise, we used little dotted lines that are super cute and you can simply cut around them for a pretty darned great look.

Materials

Mini Brown Bags (found at Michaels)
Strawberries
Tissue Paper
8.5 x 11″ Card Stock
2.25″ Square Scalloped Hole Punch (found at Michaels)
Color Printer

Instructions

1. Using your color printer, print out this template. Note that we have left room above the numbers for you to write in the names.

2. Using your hole punch, punch out the squares. Or alternatively, using a paper cutter, trim around the dotted lines.

3. With double stick tape, adhere the labels on to your brown bags, right in the center.

4. Using a red or black pen, scribble in the name of your guests above the number. Don’t worry about being too perfect, this project is all about charm.

5. If you don’t want to fill completely with fruit, stuff the bottom half of the bags with red tissue paper, then fill to the brim with strawberries.

These would look especially cute with cherries!

Erin and Steve’s wedding was held on the grounds of Johns Hopkins’ Evergreen Museum and Library. What an amazing venue for a springtime wedding!

After the ceremony, they slipped away for a few of the Holland’s stunning signature portrait shots …

The wedding reception was held at the Carriage House, where “library cards” were laid out in neat little rows, each card with a particular guest’s name. (One of the Holland’s “fab finds” !) On the back was a note stating that ‘in lieu of favors, a donation was being made in their guests’ name toward Reading is Fundamental. You can see more photos of these on the Holland’s blog.

These lovely wedding flowers were designed by Radebaugh Florists.

How sweet are these gingham ribbons on the wedding programs? This wedding is a such a great example of how to infuse real personality and fun into an otherwise formal and elegant affair!

I definitely found some pretty great little shops that are doing really beautiful, innovative things with wedding invitations. And, the best part is that they are completely affordable! This set by Cheer Up runs for $1.75 / piece for seating cards and save the dates, to about $3.00 per set for wedding invitations…

I also loved the work by Pink Lily Press…

These designs run about $5 per complete set, which is great seeing that you get the invitation with outer envelope, inner envelope, a belly band of sorts and choice of response postcard or standard response card. Coordinating save the dates, reception cards or additional inserts are also insanely affordable, starting at about $.75 per piece.

So, after spending quite a bit of time on the Etsy site today, I am thinking that we should start an Etsy Picks section on Style Me Pretty. Let’s start with Etsy Wedding Invitation Picks…if you already have a favorite shop OR you don’t mind going through the invitation section to find your favorite designers, I’d love to hear from you! Instructions for the Coaster Favors from Katherine…

I designed the coaster in Microsoft Word, converted it to a PDF file and sent it off to For Your Party. They were great to work with and we had our coasters in a few weeks.

I finall found the correct sized glassine envelopes (4×4) and at Paper Presentation. I ordered the rubber stamps from Impress Rubber Stamps and got the ink at Michael’s. The labels came from Paper Source. (materials picture)

I put four coasters in each envelope, hand wrote out all of the guest names on the labels and then stamped their table number onto the label. I re-created one and accidentally screwed up the R in my last name, so the finished product looked neater. (finished picture)

So, I wanted to take this week to highlight some of my favorite features from all of these bridal magazines that are sitting on my shelf, collecting unnecessary dust. This one is for DIY Stamped Seating Cards…

How great are these?! Here are some tips (along with some updated resources) from the magazine as to how to make them…

-Scour clip-art sites for some images of birds and blossoms that you love, them have them made into a rubber stamp.

-Pick up a small variety of ink pads from your local craft store or online (try to find colors that are more sophisticated like chocolate, rose, mano and a great green).

-There are some great papers from Paper Source that could be used for this project. They carry the pre-converted seating cards either in a tented style or flat, with a mini-envelope.

-Try to come up with 5-10 different patterns with your stamps, then repeat that same composition a few times. This way, your cards will look random but not completely chaotic.

-When stamping, place a piece of paper under the paper so that you can allow the stamped image to run off the edge a bit.

Of course, you are certainly not limited to birds and blossoms. The options for these are really endless…your stamp could be something as simple as a calligraphied word reading “love” or “peace.” or it could be a series of intricate patterns and prints, custom silhouettes, anything really!
