From HBB Photography…The weather was perfect! The location, classic and serene. Jeff and Jaime were fun, creative, and totally chill to work with. Their wedding in Seaside, FL was intimate, elegant, and personal. They have a simple and very humble way of carrying themselves. Their day totally captured their personalities with the ceremony being small and intimate including their closest friends and family. The bridal party was up for anything and so great to work with. The reception was like seeing them through an open book. The centerpieces depicted photos from anything as their love for Westie Terriers to Ron Burgundy from Anchor Man and different silhouettes of poets, writers and musicians that really gave everyone a clear idea of their interests and personalities. Every details was laid out and put together with so much care and detail.

From the Bride…Jeff and I both have Midwestern roots — at heart, we like things simple, genuine and heartfelt, no big fuss.  And our wedding was no different.  We kept our wedding fairly small with only our family and close friends there, and decided on Seaside, Florida as the perfect location.  I grew up in Florida, and the beach to me is synonymous with happiness.  When we visited the Seaside chapel, I couldn’t imagine Jeff and I saying our vows anywhere else.  I got most of my wedding ideas from Style Me Pretty, Southern Weddings and Green Wedding Shoes and was drawn to weddings and ideas that were sweet, fresh and a little dreamy.  We wanted our friends and family to be comfortable and have a great time — more like a lovely backyard summer party than a big lavish wedding.  My friends and I made dozens of flowers out of pink, ivory and yellow fabric that we scattered on tables and strung on a few garlands along with pictures of Jeff and me with friends and family, and I loved all the lights strung over the guest tables and twisted up the beautiful sycamore trees in the courtyard.  Most of the centerpiece vases are my mom’s.  We got the idea for the table numbers from a wedding that used similar black-and-white images of mostly classic country music icons — like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.  We picked people and places that were important or inspirational to us, but all a little tongue in cheek.  Like I’ve seen in a million places, and I LOVE, we collected some framed photos of our parents and grandparents.  This meant a lot to me especially because none of our grandparents could make the trip to Florida, so it was a small way to honor them on our wedding day.

From Callaway Gable…Their destination wedding took place in Cayucos, CA, about ½ hour from Morro Bay on California’s Central Coast at a beautiful seaside luxury inn called the Cass House. David and Rebecca meticulously planned and/or created every detail themselves, extensively using DIY techniques that matched creativity and chic-ness with affordability. They were also concerned with sustainability and eco-awareness as their menu, wine and wedding dress were locally sourced, and florals were passed over for vintage fabrics and candles.

Food is very important to David and Rebecca (we did their engagement at a farmer’s market) so when they met Chef Jensen from the Cass House, they gave him three keywords and told him to run with it: fresh, local and in-season. He created a menu just for them that included appetizers like pizza with duck confit pizza with brie and caramelized onions, crab cakes with saffrom aioli, and oxtail empanadas with lime creme fraiche. Dinner included a market salad made with fresh veggies from their garden (which surrounded the guests at the reception), 10-hour braised Kobe Short ribs with Meyer lemon gremolata, honey & thyme glazed chicken, grilled corn and mascarpone polenta and wood-fired market ratatouille. Everything was served family style.

From the Bride… You know that feeling when you go to the beach and you start to smell the salt water and you can’t help but smile? We wanted that vibe for our whole wedding.  We started the festivities Friday evening at The Wreck of the Salty Dog at South Beach Marina in Sea Pines.  We had shrimp sliders, margaritas, and a sunset over the water to set the tone.  Early Saturday Amy came by with our gorgeous bouquets—mine was a hand tied bouquet of white peonies, white dahlias, green cymbidium orchids and white hydrangeas.  The bridesmaid’s bouquets had all of the same except the white hydrangeas.

Our ceremony began at 2 pm and I wore a gown by Priscilla of Boston and my something borrowed were the Christian Louboutin shoes that my cousin wore in her wedding. My bridesmaids also wore Priscilla of Boston dresses; strapless in a bright blue, Seine, fitted under the bust and a ruffle down one side.  Sam and his groomsmen wore Joseph A Banks gray suits and Sam wore Cole Haan shoes.  Sam’s Uncle Ike performed the ceremony along with Deacon John of Holy Family.  Our venue was a large pavilion that overlooked the beach and a pond; it was the largest venue we could find on the beach as we had 160 guests travel for our destination wedding.  The gorgeous and delicious wedding cake was alternating layers of chocolate chip cake and marble cake.  It was made in Maryland by our very close friend, Lynne Lichtig, who then drove the cake to South Carolina and assembled it there!

For some reason, when I saw the photo of Cody and his guys, all I could think of was … Lancelot and his knights…boldly approaching to carry Guinevere far far away!

You know we love all of the special touches that define a couple’s personality. We love the vibrant, happy colors. And we love big juicy kisses.

The rainbow of colors used in Allyson and Cody’s wedding … Camelot, right? (remember the scene where all of the maidens were dancing around the maypole in lovely gowns…?) Actually, this wedding was in August in South Darmouth, Massachusetts, but same idea! A great love story…

Meghen Sepe, their photographer, claims that Allyson and Cody’s wedding is one of her favorite weddings of all time. “The entire day was phenomenal – perfect weather, wonderful friends and family, an abundance of personal touches – a perfect day.”

Now this is cool … Allyson and Cody live on their sailboat in Annapolis, MD. When asked where they were going for their honeymoon, they shrugged in unison and said “We don’t know. We’ll sail somewhere, wherever.”

As Meghan says, “Can’t think of a better place to go!”
