Like the little black dresses the lovely bridesmaids have donned, this Sonoma Valley wedding is chic and classic. In my humble opinion, you definitely can not go wrong with a summer vineyard wedding in California. It’s the recipe for perfection. And when you add Fleurs de France‘s fabulous flora to the mix, well then, the whole affair is promised to reach beyond perfect. Greg and Elise met during their senior year of college at Santa Clara University. Despite attending a small college and sharing many friends, their paths had never crossed. While getting to know each other over drinks at the local college bar, they discovered their shared passions for wine and the San Francisco Giants.

After many trips to his family home in Sonoma, Greg surprised Elise with a proposal in the middle of the vineyards. While she was taking pictures of the beautiful surroundings, Greg dropped to one knee and waited for her to turn around… he surprised her with a very romantic proposal and they began planning a wine country wedding right away.

The wedding day was a perfect celebration of family and friends… and was made all the more special because the Giants won the World Series in the days leading up to the wedding!

June Wedding In Connecticut From Justin & Mary Marantz, II

Most of the time when we see a new wedding up on Justin & Mary’s site, we want it! That’s mostly because their ability to tell the story of the day through their images is so incredible … but also because their weddings are just so SMP-style weddings. Pretty much 100% of the time! Take, for example, today’s wedding … how much better than this does it get?

Just in case you missed the first post {here}, Suzanne and Justin were married this month at the Branford House in Groton, CT.

Mary described them as “two people who shine from the inside out” …

Suzanne’s mom walked her to the beginning of the aisle, where Justin met her.

Her beautiful bouquet was by A Floral Affair.

Seriously. I’m right, aren’t I? It doesn’t get any better.

To answer just a couple of the questions we know you’ll ask … Suzanne’s beautiful gown is from Nicole Miller. Her necklace is her something borrowed (from a friend) and something blue, by Ralph Lauren.

Spring Wedding in Malibu From Docuvitae

Well, we gave you a sneek peak of Rose’s to-die-for Vera Wang gown last night {here}. This is what Rose had to say about it …

I shopped one day for dresses. I knew pretty quickly that this dress was the one. I tried on more to be sure, but knew I’d probably end up with that first dress. It’s a Vera Wang, although that’s not why I bought it at all, it just happened to be the dress that fit me the best. It was flattering, gave me a waist where I don’t really have one and it seemed unusual.

Isn’t that the way it goes so much of the time? The first dress you try on!

Laura Kleinhenz, founder and principal photographer at Docuvitae shot today’s wedding in Malibu at the breath-taking Stone Manor venue.

But before we get to the details of the day, a few really sweet ‘getting ready’ shots that will make you feel like you were in the room…

Uh-oh …it appears that Rose is going to have a tough time getting through the day without the flood of emotion that often accompanies the moment … I can almost hear them saying “breathe … breathe …”

But this little guy nearly steals the show (all day long)!

Real Wedding: Brannon and Kainoa’s Hawaiian Celebration of Love

When we received Brannon & Kainoa’s wedding from Little Black Book members Cassandra and David Dieterle, it was hard to get past just how cute the kids are! They sent us loads of gorgeous detail photos from the wedding, but we had to see more of the kids before we could even move on. We fell head over heels in love with Brooklyn, Brogan and Bailey!

The adorable boys are Kainoa & Brannon’s children. The precious little girl, Brooklyn is Cassandra & David’s daughter. They are all great friends and so when it came time to planning AND photographing their Hawaiian wedding … who better than the Dieterles!

Inspiration for their wedding was simple: Brannon LOVES purple and everything shabby chic. Kainoa LOVES to fish. Cassandra took these three elements and intricately wove them throughout the wedding. She is the first to admit that using purple as the primary hue in a wedding is a bit difficult … just the right amount … in just the right places. But when you live in Hawaii, color is the embraced. The final color palette was a gorgeous blend of orchid purple, white/ivory, and the natural browns found in sea shells.

Honolulu Wedding Consultants, the Dieterle’s full service wedding coordination business did an amazing job from beginning to end!

And Brooklyn, their daughter … oh my, what a doll ….

Do-It-Yourself Project: Ring Bearer Slings

Viola, the creative force behind the design firm Chewing the Cud, has another absolutely gorgeous DIY project to inspire all of us…the oh-so-cute ringbearer book slings!

RINGBEARER BOOK SLING

Materials:
3 Hardbound books of varying sizes (Mine were: 4.5″ x 6.5″ ,4″ x 5.5″ ,3″ x 5″)
The books can be of any size, but don’t make them too big. Remember: little hands, little books.
Decorative Papers and/or Book Cloth
2 kinds of Ribbons (1.5″ wide; 0.25″ wide)
PVA glue (also known as bookbinding glue)

1. Lay books wide open and measure lengthwise from one end of the cover to the other, including spine thickness.

2. Cut decorative papers so there is an excess of 1/8″ all around (except top and bottom of spine).Apply a light coat of PVA on the back of papers.

3. Position book covers on papers and smooth.

4. Fold over the excess 1/8″ on all sides. Smooth.

5. Place a phonebook/heavy objects over the closed books and let dry.

6. Stack covered books so the smallest book is on top. To secure the position of the stack, you can add glue/double-stick tape the books to each other.

7. Tie stack using the wide ribbon first, then layering with the narrow ribbon.

8. Slip rings on the narrow ribbon and make a loose loop. (Or if you have a young ringbearer like we did, use fake rings and give the real ones to your best man)

We used plain book cloth for the base book and a plain wide ribbon so the textures wouldn’t be overwhelming. But don’t be afraid to experiment! Think patterned book cloth, rubber stamps, fabric pens, leather books, personalized ribbons with your names, initials… have fun! Make it yours!
