DIY Gift Wrap by Grey Likes Weddings

As promised, here is the most incredible gift wrap diy project E-V-E-R, carefully crafted by the fabulous Summer Watkins over at Grey Likes Weddings. We have been blown away by today’s gorgeousness here on SMP and owe it all to Summer’s spot on style and craft savvy. Thanks so much Summer…we heart you big time.

So the DIY is for the center row image on the left, the adorable fabric pom. It’s SO freaking cute, I only wish I had thought of it myself. Plus, it’s like…ridiculously easy. Here’s the goods:

Materials:

1-2 yards of ribbon in various tones, about 2″-3″ in width
Miscellaneous material, such as burlap, knit sweaters, etc…
Twine

1. Cut several pieces of ribbon in 3″-5″ increments, depending upon desired size of your finished pom. Do the same with material, sweaters and burlap.

2. Make a large stack, alternating each color and type of material. Using your twine, tie a very tight knot around the center of the entire stack.

3. Cut your ribbon into smaller strips, keeping the center uncut. Separate and pull strips apart to make your completed pom!

Gift Wrapping Inspiration from Grey Likes Weddings, II

For anyone that knows me…a white on white color palette is pretty much as good as it gets. My mother in law even gave me a white poinsettia this year while she gave everyone else the traditional red variety. I literally own 20 or so little white t-shirts, I wear a white winter coat, I only own white linens and china and am currently bursting out of my 4 year old white sneaks that I can’t seem to part with. In my book, a pretty white wedding is just about as good as it gets.

So you KNOW I loved this Winter white inspiration that Summer over at Grey Likes Weddings sent us. It totally satisfies every creative bone in my body and has single handedly given me more holiday cheer than I’ve ever had before. I am headed out to the fabric store this weekend to replicate these designs and can’t wait to see what variations I can come up with. So, while I could blab on and on, I’ll instead just give you a bit more eye candy.

And while we are putting the finishing touches on a fabulous DIY that Summer did, head on over to Grey Likes Weddings. Summer has also put together a swell Wine Wrap project that I am 100% going to do this holiday season.

Gift Wrapping Inspiration from Grey Likes Weddings

This is possibly the most gorgeous feature ever. I am always head over heels for anything that Summer of Grey Likes Weddings does, but this one just might take the cake. She’s put together some of the most lovely holiday gift wrap inspirations you’ve ever seen and aside from being perfect for the coming weeks, they are also pretty incredible ways to package up wedding favors. Oh and not to fret…we are including some awesome holiday tags that you can download, as well as a super cute DIY project a little later today.

The ADORABLE little tags that are gracing the packages can actually be downloaded right here. MaeMae Paperie is the talent behind the little gems and we couldn’t be happier to share. Just print them out on 80 lb card stock (that can be found at your local office store or at Paper Source) and voila. A simple package turned total gorgeousness.

The photographs were snapped by Jenny Liu, who we love, and the Calligraphy was done by Victoria Hoke Lane of Calligraphos Ink. SUCH a talented little team of vendors and lucky for us, the fun isn’t over yet. We have lots more from the shoot coming up next.

Groom’s Socks

Yep, you read that right. FINALLY a project just for the grooms. Mekala Tinnin, our newest DIY contributor (remember her FAB love story books) crafted this brilliant packaging idea that you can do just for your boy.

Mekala recently launched a new venture called Tie that Binds where you can purchase the cute label for these socks. Her new adventure is all about details, all about creating a wedding brand that you can thread through every element of your day. Definitely worth a visit.

And here are the step-by-step instructions for the Groom’s Socks Gift…

Materials
Your groom’s socks for the wedding
Ribbon
Brown paper / any paper (I used a paper grocery sack!)
Stapler
Scissors
Printer and DIY Label
Sticker Paper

Instructions
Step 1: cut paper strip about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide. Fold into a loop and staple. To form the square look of the paper, fit around socks and crease.

Step 2: Fold socks in half and loop a bow of ribbon at the fold. Then slip the socks into the paper loop

Step 3: Print label on sticker paper, cut out, and attach to brown paper strip.

Step 4: Place them as a surprise! He’ll remember your lighthearted-ness on the big day for years to come.

I love the idea of mixing it up with some really fun, graphic socks (that your photographer can have a field day with) for all of the boys!
