Designed by our sweet and crazy talented friend Jill La Fleur, with perfect photographs by Simply Bloom Photography, this little number will take you someplace far away where pretty Romona Keveza gowns blow perfectly in the wind and TeePee’s on the beach are the new must have.

Before we release the reigns though, we wanted to take a minute to remind all of you aspiring event designers out there that Jill, the design guru herself, is hosting a workshop on the beaches of Maui in just a few short weeks where she’s gathered the best in the biz to teach you how to really launch your brand the right way. Yours truly will even be doing a skype workshop. And lucky for you, she’s made some last minute room for a few more warm bodies. Hurry though, the spaces are sure to go soon!

From Jill of La Fleur Weddings… When Simply Bloom approached me to style their Photographer’s Workshop on Oahu, I was excited and honored to be a part. We had done some beautiful work together before and we work so well together. They have such a lovely softness and femininity to their images that I decided to create my inspiration around the soft colors that I love and that they show off so well. I wanted to make sure they were able to capture that while still using the beautiful surroundings at Makapu’u Beach on Oahu. I decided to go with light pink and tourquoise blue as the main colors with elements of seafoam green, natural palm, natural coral and blue glass thrown in. With the help of Yvonne Design, I envisioned and then created a large tee-pee on the sand with a pink and ivory honeycomb fabric and had a low table inside of it with an intimate table setting and long cushions on a woven rug topped with comfy pillows. I wanted to create a romantic, intimate space for a small wedding party to celebrate a private beach wedding or vow renewal. I introduced elements of the sea that included sea fans and turquoise sea glass. The place cards and menus were created by Chelsea Petaja and attached to beautiful individual shells on woven shell and palm mats. The flowers were soft, fluffy texture in blushes, sages and creams colors. I had a blast working with the local couple from Oahu that even brought along their restored ’64 VW bus as a prop for our shoot! My favorite was the seafoam green colored Ramona Keveza gown that just seemed to flow right into the sea itself…the color was perfect! Paired with handmade jewelry from Maui, the bride was stunning! The groom wore a simple JCrew casual linen pant and crisp white shirt…perfect for a Hawaiian beach wedding.

Oahu Wedding from Mango Muse Events + Red Heart Photography + Flowergirls

This is your one cute couple alert. It’s easy for anyone to look good with the Hawaiian breeze blowing through their hair, and the Pacific sand in between their toes, but these two, they were absolutely adorable. The lovely planners & designers, Mango Muse Events, enlisted the help of Flowergirls to create the florals for the event – which is quickly jumping to the top of my favorite floral designs ever. Live trees as centerpieces, a Bonsai tree as the escort card holder, and, the best yet, those amazing honohono orchid chandeliers. Can I have one of those for every room in my house? Brian and I went to high school together but I joke that if we had ever been in the same class, we would never have ended up together because I was a diligent dorky student and Brian was more of the fun-loving troublemaker.   Lucky for us, our paths never crossed in the classroom. Instead, we became close friends over the carefree summer between high school and college before I went away to college in Boston.   That was how I thought our story might end.   But they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it really must be true because when I returned home for Christmas break, we realized how much we had missed each other and we’ve been together ever since.

Eight years later, we got engaged and started to plan our wedding. We soon realized that we had no idea what to do! We wanted a wedding that would reflect who we are as a couple – our personalities, humor, and quirks. Unfortunately, we had no idea how to translate “us” into an actual event — thankfully, however, our wedding planner did!

Brian and I love the outdoors and Lanikuhonua on the west coast of Oahu turned out to be the perfect venue for us with its grassy field and ocean views. To further the outdoor feeling, we used Ficus trees as our centerpieces that “grew” out of the tables. We incorporated Brian’s love for the beach and my love of cooking with sand filled mason jars at each table.   Twinkle lights (my favorite!) were strung up in a clear tent and beautiful orchids were hung from the tent as natural chandeliers.

In keeping with Japanese tradition, I folded one thousand gold cranes as a symbol of patience and a wish for a long and happy marriage. Brian folded one red crane to complete our one thousand and one cranes and we strung them up on a special family bonsai tree – perfectly complimenting the larger trees in the reception area.

We tried to keep things fun and cheerful with cute and casual wedding stationary, a bright green color palate, and a Shaka Booth filled with our favorite costumes and props from home!   And, in a nod to Brian’s love for music, we ended the night with a casual outdoor lounge featuring some great live music.   Even Mother Nature must have been on our side that day because the weather was just our kind of day with clear skies and a light breeze!

I could not have dreamed of a more perfect day – I married my best friend and we were able to share just a little bit of “us” with our closest family and friends!

Sunset Ranch Wedding by Feather Love Photography

That’s it. I’m packing my bags right now and heading off to Sunset Ranch on Oahu’s North Shore. I had heard Noa of Feather Love Photography gush about this tranquil oasis but I was completely sold after seeing the breathtaking photos that she took at this lovely island celebration. A charming blend of traditional, cultural elements and pretty, pretty details. OK, so even if we all can’t get away to a Hawaiian paradise we can at least spend the day dreaming in the full gallery!

From the bride… When I thought about my wedding, I wanted to be OUTSIDE, with BIG TREES & an OCEAN VIEW! The theme for my wedding was romantic and tropical mix! Since I lived on a different island of Hawai’i, I searched on the Internet a lot and looked at tons of websites. I found a perfect place Sunset Ranch. Sunset Ranch is located in North Shore, Oahu, on top of the hill. The land is so big that you can choose where you want to have a ceremony, bar, and reception. They even offer a horse to ride!

Food was a BIG part of my wedding! My family loves to eat and I wanted my guests to enjoy how good local food in Hawai’i since they are coming from mainland and Japan. I found Gourmet Event Hawaii. By looking at the pictures on websites, I knew the food was good and when I went to the tasting, I was so happy that I found them.

I got a lot of help from my family and friends. My creative auntie made and designed ceramic pots and plates and decorated with beautiful flowers from Hawaii! Also, my Ohana Halau, Halau Ke Kiai A O Hula, made my wedding so AWESOME! They danced beautiful hula for us!

Photography was also a BIG BIG part of my wedding! I am a photographer too and one day I found FEATHER LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY on facebook. I fell in love with her work and dreamed that one day she will shoot my wedding. When I decided to do my wedding, I found out that she does a destination wedding too and asked her to travel to Hawaii. I was so happy that she shot my wedding! My dream came true.

My wedding was a happiest day of my life! I could tell that my face was full of smiles! Everything was greatest! Except it rained, but we got DOUBLE RAINBOWS!!! such a blessing…

Flowergirls Floral Design ~ May Wedding at the Hawaii State Art Museum

Kristina and Mark’s May wedding took place on the beautiful island of Oahu at the Hawaii State Art Museum. Little Black Book members, Flowergirls sent us these gorgeous shots of their contribution to the day!

Vintage Glam Wedding: Hawaiian Style

It may seem like we’re fixated on tropical weddings this week on The Little Black Book Blog … (and maybe we are) … but this wedding sent to us by the incredible floral design team at Flowergirls is just too cute to pass up!

Chrissy Lambert, also a Little Black Book member, did a fantastic job capturing the Vintage Glam inspiration behind Jennifer and Vincent’s wedding!

All the little details they pulled into this wedding are so, so “glamorous”!

Well … almost everything is glamorous …

The silhouettes they used added just the perfect vintage touch.

We’ve seen quite a few Black & White with red accented weddings from 2008, but Jennifer & Vincent’s is so different. It’s light-hearted and full of zest and just forces a big happy smile!

We also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE antique brooches and feathers and crystals and … just all of the lovely glitz!

Jennifer and Vincent were married in November at the Lanikuhonua Estate on the island of Oahu.
