From Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design … The style for the shoot was Victorian Vintage using silvery mercury vases and mercury candlelight. Depression glass vases provided additional vintage appeal. The flowers I chose were soft, dreamy and lovely, as spring allows for this. We combined silver dusty miller, billowy blown open garden roses, sweet pea, astilbe, and lush peonies… this pretty combination created the sweet vases that the talented Olivia Gird captured brilliantly… I absolutely love her work.

From Olivia Gird Photography … This lovely inspiration session took place in North Scituate, Rhode Island in a peach orchard. We were inspired by delicate french tables, reading poetry to your love and the orchard itself just before the first bloom with silvery neutrals, blush and pale pink tones.

From Bella Flora of Dallas...A modern styled fete was created for Kristen Scheble and Steve Flory on April 16, 2011 with a simple ceremony at a private residence and The Nasher Sculpture Gardens.  The color palette was in all whites, grays and dashes of pink/lavender.  Everything about this wedding was carefully coordinated by this super stylish bride who wore a custom tailored lace gown.  Flowers used in the wedding ranged from stark white phaeleonopsis orchids, Dutch jumbo white hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids and oh so sweet fragrant lilac.  Mercury glass vessels of varying shapes decked two long tables along with a glorious presentation of glass orbs housing LED lights and single stemmed orchid blooms.  A most memorable wedding for sure.

From Brandi of Soiree … For this shoot we really wanted to play on the colors of spring and marry whimsy with contemporary elements. We loved the idea of using peach, shades of pinks, and a soft blue for a romantic, airy feel, while the cobalt blue added a bold pop of color for a modern touch.

The shoot was held in a beautiful white sunroom in a house on Boise’s historic Warm Springs Avenue. The subtle blue stripes on the walls and white painted floors were the first inspiration for the color scheme. We wanted to make sure the color palette and the design didn’t compete with the surroundings.

Everything needed to be light and airy, and the bride’s dress emulated this in every way. Bridal Couture provided the gown; a Jasmine Couture beauty complete with layers of tulle and taffeta and stylish feather flowers all over for a big statement. The dress was the perfect mixture of whimsy and high fashion.

The bride’s hair, styled by Camilla Orosco, was a messy, romantic up-do with a signature blue feather flower, while her makeup by Jamie Verner was romantic and soft. We paired dramatic jewelry and gorgeous shoes provided by Boise’s Piece Unique to finish the contemporary look.

The first step in designing the tables was to choose the linens. Cloth Connection out of New York had the perfect variety of the textured and whimsical styles we were after: a sea breeze crinkle taffeta paired with peach satin napkins for the dinner table, peach floral tinsel for the sweetheart table, and a cobalt blue crinkle taffeta linen for the dessert table.

From there we paired mercury, glass, and mossy elements with beautiful centerpieces by Botanica to run the length of the dinner table; natural chiavari chairs and silver chargers by Brown Party Rental were the perfect finishing touch. All of the stationery and place cards, designed by Ampersand Studios, were inspired by the blue stripes on the wall in the sunroom and also served as the tiny pop of cobalt we needed on the table.

The dessert table was one of our favorite aspects of the shoot; we really wanted this to be whimsical and pulled inspiration from our favorite carnival and circus foods- popcorn and cotton candy. The risers for the cotton candy and cake, which are actually hat box lids, and popcorn boxes were all covered in moss, and we brought the glass elements into this table with more mercury cups and a glass cake stand. The cake by Greg Marsh was gorgeous and the big cobalt flower and texture fit in with the theme perfectly.

Finally, the sweetheart table was outfitted in the stylish floral linen, and we changed the bride into a flirty peach-hued floral dress. We love the trend of an outfit change for the bride, and had this been a real wedding we think it would be the perfect dress to drive off into the sunset with her groom.

This photo shoot was an amazing adventure and we can’t thank all of the vendors enough that worked together to pull it off!

So now for the good part. We are having ANOTHER contest! It will debut after our DIY contest (which is starting next week…so get your entries in ASAP!) and the winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to the store of your choice. Here’s the deal. You have to find your favorite LBD and come up with a chic, innovative palette to compliment it. Get creative, because anything goes.

Structure your boards like the ones that I’ve featured today…simple, cohesive collections of 4-6 pictures. The final image needs to be at least 600 pixels across. For tips on setting this up, just shoot me an email. Submissions can be sent in Word, Illustrator, PDF or preferably JPG. The deadline is October 31st. Please include a list of sources for all images.

The dinner reception was beyond gorgeous. Sharon and Ashley at Floracopia created stunning residential-like floral arrangements using an insane amount of crisp white phaleonopsis orchids, dutch hydrangea, and just the tiniest mix of succulents for a little unexpected detailing. The arrangements were housed in an eclectic mix of mercury glass and smaller vintage china vessels. Barker Decor cut custom mirrored tops for all of our round tables which added the perfect amount of sparkle to the dinner reception.

For the china and glassware, we used all platinum patterned china, platinum banded glassware, and a gorgeous platinum banded charger from my friends at Tabella.  Carlos and Anna at Tabella also supplied the perfectly simple “vertical pintuck” linens which were a great backdrop for the eclectic mix of decor on each table. And…my darlings Sara and Ian allowed me to use a zebra napkin on half of our tables (white hemstitch on the others). It was the little nod to Tony Duquette that we needed to complete our look.

The place settings are to die for, the collection of mercury glass stemware and accents, the perfect parasols…even the stinking Jimmy Choo’s, oh my! I have looked at these pictures a dozen times and each time, I see something different. Another beautiful detail that went into this incredible day.

I am sure that most of you know by now that I have such a love affair with Lisa’s work. She is pure talent and the weddings that she crafts are beyond belief. Remember Elizabeth Messina’s wedding that Lisa designed?  Genius.

And, she’s done it again…feast your eyes people!

This was yet another one of my favorite weddings. Sara and Ian are by far some of my delightful clients. They had such a great aesthetic and allowed us to be very daring with their decor. Sara and Ian had booked the historic Paramour estate for their wedding which was the perfect backdrop for their grand vision.

When they originally came to me with several tear sheets that were very Tony Duquette inspired — I knew exactly what they wanted…a very chic and elegant event, but with an eclectic twist. We mixed and matched several core design elements to create the general vibe Sara and Ian wanted…mercury glass, an abundance of phalaenopsis orchids, succulents, vintage china, mirrored surfaces, zebra patterns, and a very Viceroy-esque monogram. It was gorgeous!!!

For the cocktail reception — we paired rustic dark wood furniture from both Raj Tents and Barker Decor Service, with an abundance of residential elements (birdcages, candles, zebra rugs).

The mercury glass and the vintage china paired with that shot of zebra print…lets just say, I want my entire world to look like this wedding. Super chic with it’s ornate touches and pure white details. So gorgeous.
