Pretty Pink Napa Wedding by Lisa Lefkowitz and a Benefit Raffle

It’s WPPI and we really wish we could be joining all our photography friends in Vegas. There’s a lot of action on the strip this week and although we can’t be there to bring it to you live, we can share some important happening from some of our industry faves. Our good friend Lisa Lefkowitz, together with the ridiculously talented Jose Villa, is announcing a charity raffle for a fabulous organization, Americans for the Arts. If you purchase a ticket you will be entered to win a private one-hour mentoring session with the Lisa, Jose Villa, or Jonathan Canlas. You can see all the details right here. You don’t even need to attend WPPI to enter, your session can take place over the phone or Skype. The best part is, even if you don’t win one of the one-on-one mentoring sessions, 100% of the proceeds from this raffle will go to Americans for the Arts to help them provide resources and support for arts education. And that truly is something we can’t do without.

Croquet Rehearsal Party by Photography by Leah

In keeping with the spirit of three day weekends, last summer hurrahs and a chance to don your best summer whites before you become a big fashion faux pas (unless you are the bride of coarse), we have an uber cute Rehearsal party to share. That’s right, I said party because not only did this wedding group eat and drink some fab food and wine but they also partied it up on the croquet field to the tunes of a local jazz band. That sounds like an absolute blast to us! Captured by Leah McCormick, this all white Napa soiree is the perfect way to send you all off into your weekend festivities. Their wedding was on the 4th of July weekend so I thought this idea for a rehearsal was perfectly festive and a truly wonderful way for all the guests to get to know each other! Croquet, laughing, drinking wine in Napa, a jazz band, delicious food, what more can you ask for?! I absolutely loved shooting it so hopefully the beautiful and carefree feel of their evening comes across. Byron and MacKenzie were living in Nashville while planning their wedding and immediately after moved to NYC where Byron is about to celebrate his white coat ceremony from med school. Their families came in from Washington D.C. and Merced, CA respectively. Everyone was absolutely thrilled to dress in white for the party and spend the weekend in St. Helena.

Traditional, Elegant Wedding in California, III

If you are just now stopping by, we are devouring THE most beautiful wedding that Lisa Lefkowitz sent us. Lisa is a dream come true, always sending us affairs that are sophisticated, elegant and utterly gorgeous, with details that make me swoon time and time again. This wedding, designed by the fabulous Alison Hotchkiss, is that…and so much more.

A few more details from Lisa Lefkowitz…

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the lawn as the sun dipped behind the hills. Kings tables were draped with creamy beige linens and topped with glass chargers. Lauren Godshell of Branch Floral Design created a natural white and green palette and played off the natural surroundings by bringing in wood pedestals and platforms. Guests picked up their escort cards from wooden trays filled with dried green peas. The tables were labeled with aged wooden table numbers which were staked into the flower arrangements.

And here is a little peak at their menu (so that we can be even more jealous than we already are)…

First Course: Salad of organic greens, grilled garden peaches, candied walnuts, and prosciutto
Second Course: Pan roasted halibut, dungeness crab, sweet corn soubise
Third Course: Grilled tenderloin of beef, heirloom zucchini croquettes, and cabernet sauvignon jus

Guests danced the night away inside the Vintner Room under a cluster of Chinese lanterns and enjoyed chocolate cake with raspberry sauce from Perfect Endings. The event came to an end with the last dance to “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong and guests were whisked away on shuttles to continue their celebration in downtown Yountville.

Sometimes we feature perfect weddings. You know, those weddings where every detail just seems to fall right off the pages of a magazine. This is one of those perfect weddings. The bride and groom are flawless, the detailing that Alison Hotchkiss dreamed up, the flowers by Branch and of course, the perfect photographs by Lisa Lefkowitz…are all right out of my dream wedding.

Here are a few notes from Lisa…

Amanda and Buck were married at the beautiful Meadowood resort on Labor Day weekend of 2008. 100 friends and family joined them in the celebration. The ceremony and dinner took place outdoors surrounded by lush vegetation. The bride walked down the aisle to “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes, which was played on guitar. Wooden pedestals at different heights were topped with white arrangements, creating an altar for the ceremony.

Traditional, Elegant Affair in California

When Lisa Lefkowitz sends me one of her weddings, my heart does a little pitter-patter. She is so good at what she does, so thoughtful in her photography, she just allows you fall head over heels for every single affair. So when she emailed me today’s first featured wedding, I did a little happy dance. Then I saw that one of my all time favorite planners and now dear friends, Alison Hotchkiss, designed the affair and that happy dance got MUCH bigger.

The wedding was held at Meadowood in St. Helena, California on labor day weekend, with 100 friends and family who joined the beautiful bride and groom in the celebration. The surroundings were PERFECT for the sophisticated, forever elegant style that the couple was going for and yet the modern touches that Alison added to the look…well, it was perfection!

We have so much more from this gorgeous wedding on the way!
