This wedding was sweet in every possible way, but especially literally. Kelsey the bride works in a doughnut shop and they served the most beautifully decorated donuts along with a huge array of other treats, from homemade chocolate chip cookies, to argentinian specialties that reflect the bride’s heritage on her mother’s side. In fact it was Kelsey’s mother and her aunties who worked for months crafting all of the hand made touches such as the banners, and bits of lace. As centerpieces, Kelsey and Scott had the most tempting bunt cakes that charmed their guest and were yet another sweet touch. Many of the pieces used to hold the cakes and flowers, etc, were thrifted by the couple. they truly wanted the look of their wedding to be ecclectic, organic, and simple, yet meaningful to them and who they are.

From the Bride’s Mother:

The reception(s) were all decorated with things that I, family and friends already had in our homes.  The only things purchased were the vases-at D.I. no less.  The banners and garlands were made by my sister-in-law, Lorena and myself.  The treats were all lovingly offered by family and ward friends (they’re amazing people.)  The yummy donuts came from a donut shop that Kelsey had been working at called Beyond Glazed, here in Draper.  I started making the bundt cakes a couple weeks in advance and then freezing them.  Pulled them out of freezer right before setting the tables and frosting them right then and there.  The cake “box” was picked up at a garage sale for nothing by Kelsey.

From Joy de Vivre…It was such an absolute pleasure to help Erin and Paul on their wedding. Erin was a self professed lover of all things Martha Stewart, and took on a number of DIY projects which she executed to a tee! The ceremony and reception were held in the garden of an historical estate in Santa Barbara, California where Erin and Paul had gone to college.

Erin and Paul used quite a few Martha Stewart templates to craft their decor. Guests were greeted to lemonade and lavender iced tea in mason jars with sweet grosgrain drink flags that Erin and her family made using these. The escort cards flags were created by calligrapher Wendy Ware and hung between fig trees in the garden. Erin used the Martha Stewart banner of flags template.  They also sat in chairs with a sweet white doiley swag. Guests were guided to their seats by favor crackers containing saltwater taffy, also created using this Martha Stewart template.

Each favor read the guests name and was placed on to of a yellow and white striped napkin. All guest tables were covered in La Tavola Linens Tuscany Natural linen. The flowers, which were a lovely combination of dahlias, hydrangea, peonies, garden roses and dusty miller, were created by the talented Cody Floral and were placed in a number of different mercury glass vases down the tables. Antique-like garden wire frames held the table numbers, which were printed on yellow and white striped paper.

Emily & Jay are college sweethearts from William & Mary. After spending their first few years out of college in NYC together, with their two adopted dogs, Wadsworth & Lulu (who were both in the ceremony!), the newly engaged couple made the move from the city to Palm Beach. They were excited to plan a wedding in the town of their new home, allowing them to share the charm & character of Palm Beach with all of their family & friends.

In one of our many e-mails exchanged throughout her wedding planning, Emily wrote “A wedding takes a village…” She was lucky to be able to call on some of her most talented friends in the planning process. Her friend, Ashley Tucker, designed their website (biffyandbird.com), their wedding stationery, programs, matches, and table place cards. According to one of Emily’s e-mails, “Ashley has branded our wedding and our new social stationery to perfection!”

Emily incorporated the couple’s monogram on several items in the wedding from the flip flops she made for her bridesmaids to wear with their own personalized robes, to welcome Lands End tote bags for their guests, to the cocktail napkins. During the cocktail hour, the staff at The Colony served Emily & Jay’s signature drinks: Biffy’s Bikini Bellinis & Bird’s Bourbon Bombs. (Biffy & Bird are Emily & Jay’s respective nicknames.)

From the bride: “The Sultans of Swing are from Martha’s Vineyard– where we spend summers! They came recommended by The Colony, which was quite a coincidence. Jay also bought my ring from a jeweler on the Vineyard; it is an 8-prong from the 1920s! I was oddly more interested in the setting than the diamond and had always wanted an 8-prong with a gold band; Jay searched high and low throughout Manhattan with no luck. When we were visiting Martha’s Vineyard one weekend, one was starring at us through the window as we walked down main street in Vineyard Haven. The wedding bands are from Tiffany’s on Worth Avenue- right down the street from our home! Jay’s ring says “my wonderful” in it; When we first met, I was instantly charmed by his southern manners and by his insertion of “wonderful” throughout our conversations. My childhood is full of memories of my father playing the piano. His cherished grand piano was in the living room– directly below my bedroom, so I would often ask him to play as I was going to sleep. He had not met Adam, Jay’s brother, before the wedding but we had told him how very talented Adam was on the violin. He suggested they might do a duet-dedication of sorts at the reception. The piece they chose was Embraceable You.”

Erik and Jennifer tied the knot on May 30th, 2009 with a ceremony at Grace Episcopal Church and a reception for 125 following at Durham Ranch. They went with a color palette of sage green, red and white and stuck to a tailored, elegant vibe. The bride rocked a Vera Wang gown and absolutely gorgeous Chanel Shoes. After the ceremony, Jennifer’s middle school principal drove the couple to their reception in one of his own vintage cars (how cute is that?). When the guests arrived at the reception, they were greeted by Sangria, Spanish tapas and a flamenco guitarist.

The photographer behind the day, Meg Smith…kind of hit it out of the park with this one. Her clean but totally elegant approach was perfection and allowed the picture perfect details to really, really shine. More to come in just a bit!

Are you squealing with glee yet? I am! I was giddy as a school girl when I bought my copy (or three) today announcing to everyone within ear shot that I was on the cover. And, it’s a huge spread to boot. For those of you who are interested, it’s all about the day in the life of a professional blogger…an honest behind the scenes look at what my days are like, how our company is run, even a glimpse into my own guilty pleasures.

Thank you so very much to Bride and Bloom Magazine for featuring us! We are honored, flattered, humbled, the works. Words can’t really say. And readers, please, please, please support this fabulous publication by buying a copy. You can find them at your local bookstore!
