We are continuing on with the LIttle Black Dress color palette competition and I am loving this next entry for the “Grown-Up Goldilocks!”
Bouquet - Martha Stewart / Dress - Milly Scallop Dot Embroidered organza dress from Nordstrom / Quail eggs with caviar - Martha Stewart / Save the Date - Ceci New York / Cloisonne ribbon from Les Bons Ribbon
We are continuing on with our DIY week! I am loving it so far and I am pretty sure you guys are too. So, let’s get right to it. This first project was inspired by Martha’s paper bouquets, with the reader’s own twist of course!
Materials
tissue paper cut in 1”x3” rectangles floral wire and tape ink or watercolors (optional)
Instructions
1. The first step optional step is to dye your tissue paper to the color of your choice. Just dip several rectangles of white tissue paper in a thin watercolor bath, and dry on paper towels. For deeper colors, you use ink instead of watercolor. Only separate the layers when dry. You can also use colored tissue paper, but this lets you have subtle shade variations, and exactly the palette you want.

Laura compared the feel of her wedding to “a beautiful antique with a story behind it.” With a modern twist on vintage glamour, this wedding was one of my favorite wedding planning experiences. Laura wanted her wedding to reflect her Southern roots, strong family bonds and modern vintage style. Here is the inspiration board we put together for her big day:
Color Palette Contest, Day 5 - Part 1
I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! We spent the last few days working on our new site design, which we are really hoping to reveal next week…so exciting!
Since we didn’t get to post the remaining entries in our Color Palette Contest on Friday, we are going to finish up today then start the voting tomorrow. Let’s get right to it!
This next entry is all about white, inspired by the amazing tile ceiling on the right from Maribeth of Red Ribbon Studio’s gorgeous office…
Happy 4th of July everyone! This is honestly one of my favorite holidays. The food, the family, the fireworks. Love it all. And guess what…I am passing it all up this weekend to work on getting our new Style Me Pretty site design fine tweaked and brushed off, so that we can launch it on our goal of July 15th.
So, in lieu of posts today, I am going to leave you with lots of Patriotic wishes and one very Patriotic Color Palette!

I met Robin about three years ago when she was launching her first line of handmade letterpress invitations, Robin Beth Designs. Robin’s attention to detail is truly unmatched, her styles are beautiful and her love of letterpress is shown in every piece that she creates. Robin is as sweet and as talented as they come, so when she sent me this oh-so-pretty inspiration board based on one of her new designs, I had to share!

I am officially in love. This season’s Martha Stewart Weddings features some of the most over-the-top, gorgeous wedding cakes I have ever seen. Beyond gorgeous. Perfection. One part calligraphy, one part color and confection…basically a wedding invitation designer’s dream come true…
Yesterday could have possibly been the greatest day that I have ever had. Well okay, my wedding was the greatest day. Yesterday was a pretty close second. Style Me Pretty, along with four other wonderful blogs, was featured by Martha Stewart on her morning show. Yep, it’s true. She opened the show with a little segment on blogs, then mentioned a few of us in the audience, mine included! It was SUCH an honor and to be honest, I don’t think that a single producer there knew that I wasn’t completely over the moon. I had a hard time keeping the silly, little girl grin off my face, I clapped a little too loudly and I jumped up to lead the standing ovation when Martha walked out. Well at least that is what I was doing in my head:)
Wedding Photography by Liz Banfield
Before we jump into today’s post, I wanted to quickly remind everyone to send me (abby@stylemepretty.com) their info (name/age/city you live in/wedding location/wedding date) for our upcoming Little Black Book of vendors. Reader information is so important in allowing me to build this site into a really useful resource for all of you. Your information will be kept completely confidential - I promise!! Okay, moving on…
I really think that when you are at a loss for inspiration…find the best photographer you can and pour over their portfolio. That is exactly what I spent the evening doing with Liz Banfield, the brilliant photographer that shot the photos for Southern Weddings. Her work is stunning and incredibly inspiring…
I found this great article in an old Martha Stewart Weddings that I thought I would share with you…
Since most weddings these days are more about the entire weekend, than the day itself, it seems like the organizers have to come up with different ways of keeping guests entertained. Here are some of Martha’s tips for keeping the wedding weekend stress free for the planners, while still fun and relaxed for your guests…
Since so many of you are having summer weddings, I wanted to share with you this great piece from Martha Stewart Weddings Special Collectors Edition 2004 issue (yes, I am that obsessed)…
Cherries are the epitome of summertime. For a cute favor, you can buy a bunch of cherries at your local farmer’s market then fill little bakery bags with the fruit and a cute, clear monogrammed label on the front. Make the gift even more adorable by scalloping the top edge of the bag. OR, you could enlist friends or a local patisserie to bake mini cherry pies, packaging them in a white bakery box with a label, then tied together with bakery twine. I love these ideas!!
