Lisa and Stephen were married September 13, 2008 at the Malibu Nature Preserve in Malibu, California. Picking up on the flowers that bloom in the California hills in late summer, Lisa was inspired by soft romantic shades of sage green and lavender. They were married in a sycamore grove and opted to allow the beauty of the natural setting to stand on its own. The result was an enchanting celebration that exuded a soft fairy-forest feel, from a beautiful and ethereal dress by Claire Pettibone to little flower girls dressed in fair wings. Aside from the collection of lovely fairy flower girls, Lisa had just one adult attendant dressed in a stunning emerald green dress. Lisa was inspired by her backyard in the mountains growing up outside of Los Angles and wanted the day to feel lush, green, and magical. The green linens for the tables were custom made and Lisa picked up lots of silk butterflies from a local craft store and strung them everywhere she could.

A few details from the lovely Evonne…Michelle contacted me last August after she saw my listing on the Style Me Pretty Little Black Book. We hit it off right away and before long, we were already discussing her wedding plans and ideas.  She told me that her favorite gown designer was Pronovias, and that she would be going on a Mediterranean cruise in late August with a stop over in Barcelona.  She ended up buying the dress there.  Even with a few issues with the dress, she looked stunning in it on the day of.

The bridal bouquet consisted of ivory calla lilies, ivory/peach roses, freesias and peach spray roses.  As for the lovely centerpieces, there were burgundy dahlias, peach and ivory roses, peach spray roses, tuberose, ivory hydrangeas all in a square vase wrapped with ti leaf inside.

Well…we put our Little Black Book members to the task of finding the chicest, loveliest indoor affairs that they could get their hands on and over the last week, we’ve been given a wonderful little collection of the most beautiful, totally approachable indoor weddings and receptions. From lofts and restaurants, to intimate gatherings at the most exclusive hotels, over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be featuring (along with a sprinkling of stunning outdoor affairs) truly beautiful indoor weddings filled to the brim with charm and style.

The first was sent to us by the fabulously talented Jessica Johnston, whose photographs will honestly give you butterflies…

Liz and Ken were married at the Ritz Carlton in Dearborn with an intimate setting of only 15 of their nearest and dearest. Two days later, they had a holiday party where more friends and family could join in the celebration.

The oh-so-talented, Jenne Hohn, has been sweet enough to stop by and share a few of the gorgeous details with us!

Erin and Seth were married at B.R. Cohn Winery in Sonoma, CA on Saturday, August 23, 2007.  The gorgeous couple’s wedding weekend started with a Thursday evening rehearsal dinner at El Dorado Kitchen on the historic Sonoma Square.  Both avid oenophiles, a Friday afternoon wine tour served as a bachelor and bachelorette party for the couple and their closest friends.  A Friday evening Welcome Party was a great way for family and friends to mingle poolside at the Flamingo Hotel.

Everyone met again at Moon Mountain Retreat. They were driven back to the BR Cohn vineyard for cocktails followed by dinner in the olive orchard. Carrie was thrilled to have a chance to wear her gorgeous gown one more time! Best of all, having the formal reception on the second evening meant that the bride and groom had plenty of energy when the serious dancing began … (Carrie was happy to change into her short sassy dress by this time)! How fun!

What a clever way to make the most of a wedding weekend with your best friends and family! Thanks ever-so-much to Lisa + James for this great story, the fantastic photos, and for being a part of our Little Black Book!

But, that isn’t really what this guide is about. Although all of the vendors listed will travel far and wide, wherever your wedding may take you, they will also travel twenty minutes outside of town to the cute winery near your house or an hour down the road to a great resort. To SMP, destination weddings simply mean that they aren’t in your own backyard. They are usually weekend weddings, those where guests stay to enjoy the scenery and of course, the company.

One of my favorite photographers within the Destination Guide is none other than Lauri Levenfeld of Zoom Photography in San Francisco. And this wedding…just thirty minutes outside of San Francisco in Napa Valley, is a beautiful reflection of Lauri’s talents.

A few details from the bride…

We both wanted a destination wedding, but also wanted some place close enough to the Bay Area that guests could either enjoy a full weekend of events or just come for the day.  We also envisioned a wedding set entirely outdoors, both for the ceremony and reception.  As soon as we visited Beaulieu Garden, a private estate located in Rutherford, in Napa Valley, we knew it would be a perfect setting for our wedding.

We wanted an elegant, classic, and joyful wedding.  Our focus was on enjoying a delicious meal and wine with our family and friends, surrounded by vineyards and beautiful flowers.  Our guests sat at long banquet tables, and the first course of organic heirloom tomatoes (grown by Paula Le Duc on right on the grounds) and mozzarella, prosciutto, marinated baby artichokes, roasted gypsy peppers, and olive oil poached prawns with preserved Meyer lemons was passed family- style, in fitting with our shared Italian heritage.

We named the tables after our favorite ski areas where we had skied together or separately, with our table named after the mountain where were engaged.  And since we love dark chocolate, we chose as our favors to have Recchuiti chocolates in small white boxes tied with green ribbon personalized with our names.  The square three layer wedding cake from Perfect Endings was covered with fresh white flowers.  It had three flavors – chocolate with chocolate butter cream with fresh raspberries, vanilla with chantilly butter cream with fresh raspberries, and lemon with lemon curd filling.

Any reception held near an infinity pool like this one, is one that goes down in the “absolutely gorgeous” books. Every element, from the insanely beautiful bride to the gorgeous bridesmaids, to the pretty flowers and simple decor…is stunning.

Although I am sure that a wedding this beautiful wasn’t very difficult to shoot, the photographs captured by Christian Oth are complete works of art. Pretty enough to hang on any wall, in any home.
