Which, of course, is precisely why we are so excited to share this next little tidbit with you. Andrew Hsu, the hugely talented cinematographer that captured the day, just sent me a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot that caused such pandemonium. And it’s BEYOND delicious. You’ll see the vendors putting together a shoot that is so swoon-able it’s almost hard to believe. You’ll see the perfect bride, the perfect table settings, the perfect style behind the day. It’s one for the books and will definitely go down in SMP history as a major fav!

More from Gloria…

We used a long, wooden table with a printed runner, vintage turquoise mason jars and bottles as vessels for bright pink peonies, pies, pinwheels, and colored candies to add whimsy. The pink, amber, and turquoise glass tumblers were scattered about the table and used as votive holders and we used mismatching old shabby chairs with printed cushions. Other details included rusty tin pails that were used to hold garden flowers, a vintage address number “8” tied to the back of a chair with brightly colored ribbon indicated table number (LOVE THAT) and a set of custom-packaged condiments found a home on each table. “A&R” steak sauce, tomato sauce, and mustard fit right in on the picnic-appropriate tables. All of the condiment packaging was by Good On Paper Design.

Each place setting received a different combination of patterns on its place mat, napkin, and flower cutout. Some place settings had gingham printed place mats with ditsy floral printed napkins. Others had ditsy floral place mats with large floral napkins. Each setting was different! The menu and place mats were also designed by Good On Paper Design, the letterpress was done by Flybird Press and the Paper flower cutouts by Anne Millett of Mira Aster.

The incredible invitation suite was designed by Good On Paper Design, calligraphy by Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls, Letterpress by Flybird Press and again, the cutouts by Mira Aster.

More from Gloria Wong…

The boutonnieres were designed by Nancy Liu Chin, with fabric leaves by Anne Millett of Mira Aster and printed fabric from Peapod Fabrics. The welcome table was contructed using an aqua-colored salvage door that was placed on top of a table and used as a tabletop for the sign-in display. Large DIY pom poms hung above the table.

While the guests wait for the ceremony to begin, they are encouraged to…

o    Play some card games with an old deck of cards that the groom used to play with as a child
o    Read some of the bride and groom’s favorite vintage books
o    Drink some fresh lemonade in one of the colorful glasses displayed with patterned drink flags. Old ceramic tile samples are used as coasters.
o    Take some sweets
o    Send the bride and groom a love note. The blank love note cards are displayed in a bucket with old doorplates. An ivory vintage mailbox with a slit is situated behind the bucket of blank love notes. Guests are asked to drop the love notes in the mailbox after they are done writing their messages.

The love note cards are by Good On Paper Design with calligraphy by Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls. The candies were by Miette.  All of the salvage decor including the door, old doorplates, vintage mailbox, white chipped wall moulding corners (displayed in a stack within the wooden crate), brass dresser knobs were from Ohmega Salvage.

And it seriously doesn’t get any better than this wedding shoot that the hugely talented Lisa Lefkowitz shot and the equally incredible Gloria Wong styled.

Here are a few more details from Gloria…

We used a fun, playful candy-colored palette of turquoise aqua blue, mustard yellow, moss green and hot pink. In lieu of a paper program for each guest, a trio of cloths were screenprinted with ceremony program information, then the pieces of cloth were hung with patterned clothespins. They were designed by Good On Paper Design with fabric finishing details by Anne Millett of Mira Aster.

The pinwheels were created with the same printed patterns as the clothespins and flower cutouts from the invitation set, then affixed to fig branches. We used an old jar filled with bubble making fluid, decorated with a fabric flower, baker’s twine, and a vintage key. A separate vintage key was used to blow bubbles.  The fabric flowers were designed by Anne Millett of Mira Aster and the printed fabric was by Peapod Fabrics.

I have to admit, I always get a little excited when I see Lisa’s name in my inbox. But, to hear that she partnered up with the most incredible vendors…Gloria Wong, Good on Paper, and so many more…well, I literally couldn’t contain my joy. Seriously…jump for joy central.

Here is a little background on the shoot from the FABULOUS event designer, Gloria Wong…

Backyard Chic is a relaxed, crafty, DIY, recycled style. The look is eclectic with the use of old basement goodies, old furniture, salvage home parts, and leftover printed fabric. What may have once been considered family junk in the garage can now function as vintage décor for a personal intimate backyard wedding. The key is to augment the basement finds with sprinkles of the bride and groom’s favorite simple pleasures in life… For instance, our bride “Amelia” loves sweets, cherries, pies, especially Grandma’s famous cherry pie…

We have an entire day of fabulousness from Lisa Lefkowitz and Gloria Wong. And, we are doing a killer giveaway a little bit later. Lots of fun to be had!

A few more details from Lisa Lefkowitz…

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the lawn as the sun dipped behind the hills. Kings tables were draped with creamy beige linens and topped with glass chargers. Lauren Godshell of Branch Floral Design created a natural white and green palette and played off the natural surroundings by bringing in wood pedestals and platforms. Guests picked up their escort cards from wooden trays filled with dried green peas.  The tables were labeled with aged wooden table numbers which were staked into the flower arrangements.

And here is a little peak at their menu (so that we can be even more jealous than we already are)…

First Course:  Salad of organic greens, grilled garden peaches, candied walnuts, and prosciutto
Second Course:  Pan roasted halibut, dungeness crab, sweet corn soubise
Third Course: Grilled tenderloin of beef, heirloom zucchini croquettes, and cabernet sauvignon jus

Guests danced the night away inside the Vintner Room under a cluster of Chinese lanterns and enjoyed chocolate cake with raspberry sauce from Perfect Endings.  The event came to an end with the last dance to “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong and guests were whisked away on shuttles to continue their celebration in downtown Yountville.

Here are a few notes from Lisa…

Amanda and Buck were married at the beautiful Meadowood resort on Labor Day weekend of 2008.  100 friends and family joined them in the celebration.  The ceremony and dinner took place outdoors surrounded by lush vegetation. The bride walked down the aisle to “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes, which was played on guitar. Wooden pedestals at different heights were topped with white arrangements, creating an altar for the ceremony.

The wedding was held at Meadowood in St. Helena, California on labor day weekend, with 100 friends and family who joined the beautiful bride and groom in the celebration. The surroundings were PERFECT for the sophisticated, forever elegant style that the couple was going for and yet the modern touches that Alison added to the look…well, it was perfection!

And although I don’t have a ton of the details, I do know this. I am completely obsessed with the chic, laid back elegance. The charm threaded into every detail. The sophisticated but totally approachable style.

I am a little bit in love with the centerpieces. Potted plants in simple white containers with little birds and table names tucked inside. By sticking with mostly greens and whites, they are completely chic and refreshing. They look expensive and yet they are totally doable for a DIY bride. Love that.

Here’s what else I love about this wedding. It’s all about the simple elegance…candles placed on top of coffee beans inside a perfect cylindrical vase. A chocolate table runner that spans the length of the table. An adorable cork board with mismatched place cards pinned to it.  A cake that is literally making me want to dive right into the picture so that I can see it for myself.

It’s the sweet, charming details that just take this one to an all new level. Oh and the FABULOUS color palette. Thank you so much to the so-so-talented Nancy Liu Chin for sending today’s affair. I mean, come on! How beautiful is all of this? From that insanely perfect cake, which was crafted by Patisserie Angelica to the rather unbelievably beautiful centerpieces by Julie’s Flowers, I am basically in heaven. The affair is totally girly, but in such a chic way that your fiance might actually love it too…with every detail being so thoughtfully designed and executed. Thanks to planner Hope Garbo, the event is flawless!

I know, it’s really hard to imagine having a wedding at a private home, BUT, there are some pretty incredible details that are sure to inspire, no matter where your wedding might be taking place..from the PERFECT flowers to the crystal details, every little bit is delicious.

This was the color palette that I used for my own wedding…chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses paired with blush color flowers and white detailing. It’s just one of those timeless looks that blends well with any surrounding, whether it be a ballroom or a winery. The bridesmaids dresses are the Vineyard Collection from Bella Bridesmaid.
