From Bellafare… Drew and Kristin are high school sweethearts who met in Maryland, but have called New York City their home for the past 5 years. Kristin is the co-founder of Bellafare, a boutique event and wedding planning company, and Drew is a fashion and documentary photographer. Drew and Kristin fell in love during a summer on the Chesapeake Bay, where Drew spent many summers with his family. They dated for nine years before Drew whisked Kristin away for a surprise engagement in Paris. When it came time to plan the wedding, choosing their date was easy, as it fell close to their 10 year anniversary of being together.

Kristin and Drew wanted a laid back, yet sophisticated and modern aesthetic. They have always wanted a destination wedding and felt that the Windsor in Vero Beach, Florida was the perfect backdrop for their chic beachside affair. The ceremony took place at the Windsor’s “Town Hall” whose sea foam and white facade perfectly complimented the reception decor. Following the ceremony, the newly married couple drove away in a golf cart to the Beach Club, where the reception was held. Upon arrival to the poolside cocktail area, guests sipped on speciality cocktails named after the couple’s favorite places – the “Manhattan Mojito” and “Bay Breeze.” They also had a chance to peruse the beer bar, providing a selection of the couple’s favorite microbrews.

The escort cards were placed on a long table flanked by sea glass and vintage apothecary jars with white blooms. As guests were invited to the reception area during sunset, the dance floor was surrounded by square tables topped with gray rattan linens, white flowers, floating candles, and various coral and sea urchin pieces. They dined on an asparagus and goat cheese tartlet, miso glazed sea bass, and enjoyed sweet treats from the all white dessert bar. Guests danced late into the night while listening to Motown and top 40 hits before saying farewell to Kristin and Drew as they embarked on their Italian honeymoon.

From the lovely bride… Mark and I wanted to create a fun, personal, relaxed environment that spoke to our personality and talents. We used our DIY skills and attention to detail to contribute to all aspects of the wedding planning process. From writing the ceremony ourselves, to designing all the stationery, to customizing the bridesmaid’s dresses, “Do-It-Yourself” became our motto!

The process of planning the wedding brought us closer to each other, and to our friends and family involved. We had lots of helpers! Our family members and friends helped us scour New England in search of venue locations, cut out endless patterned flags and shapes, hand sew napkins and ties, hand make all the ceremony programs, and lug loads of breakable decorations half way across the country, among a list of countless other wedding-related tasks.

It was such a blast making a truly unique wedding experience; it undoubtedly became a friends & family affair! All of our hard work and collective support definitely paid off. Our wedding was amazing, beautiful, personal, and FUN! Thanks to all who helped, our wedding was a day filled with friends, family, and happy hearts!

Their wedding was at the newly renovated Social Hollywood ~ a sleek, chic venue that is drop-dead gorgeous. Social Hollywood is a restaurant, lounge, club and event complex located in the reclaimed, historic landmark — The Hollywood Athletic Club — once known as the “playground of the stars.”

Leigh told us this was only the fourth wedding to be held at the Social.

Leigh completely captured Tim and Mindy’s love, their passion and their mmm…. gorgeousness!

The lighting in this room is sheer brilliance … a photographer’s dream-come-true …

One of those ‘take your breath away’ moments!

How unbelievably cool is this place? (And Leigh’s photography!)

Of course, in addition to the beautiful people, the beautiful place, the beautiful ceremony … there were beaucoups of beautiful details!

Did I mention how beautiful Tim and Mindy are?

These images from Leigh Miller Photography are simply staggering in their quality. And I have to tell you, every one of Leigh’s weddings is like this!

If you look at her blog, it is filled to overflowing with the most amazing images … look at Sherri and Scott’s CHIC Cancun Destination Wedding {white with yellow accents}. And then there’s Manuela and Eric’s Strawberry Farms FUN Wedding {lavendar and red accents are too pretty} … I could go on and on. Her blog photos are huge and soooo beautiful.

Today, we’re featuring one of Leigh’s most recent weddings … it’s SO fabulous, it’s so chic, and it’s captured so brilliantly, you’re going to keel over with envy! But first, the couple’s  engagement shoot!

Here’s their story from Leigh …

Tim surprised Mindy by secretly renting a theatre, asking his and her family to join them there. He then began playing a movie of the two of them through the years. As it ended, he dropped to one knee and popped the question! WOW … so romantic.

So for their engagement session, where else would we head but to that very same theatre!

I love this last shot the best. No fancy props, no special scenery … just Tim and Mindy. Their faces even fit together perfectly!

And just to give her a little more SMP luv, we thought it would be fun to show you just a bit of her own wedding!

Sarah fell in love with all-things-wedding when she was planning her April 2007 marriage to Rudy … and what resulted was a terrific wedding at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Her wedding was featured in the San Diego Wedding Magazine, but since it’s been awhile … and because we love to feature our Little Black Book vendors’ own weddings … we wanted to show you again!

Leigh Miller, their fabulous photographer, said this on her blog …

What a fabulous wedding it was. And what made it even more fabulous was that Sarah and Rudy designed so many of their details – from the table cards, to the clay cake topper of themselves, and their own logo. So many awesome personal touches. And I can honestly say every single person they had working on their wedding did a great job  ~ ~~  Melissa from I Do….Weddings did a spectacular job keeping everything going, despite about 2,000 people at the Wild Animal Park!

The ceremony was beautiful and in their vows they said something that I thought is really important to remember,

“I promise to care more about your feelings than about being right.”

I must admit there was some serious laughter when they each said that.

Leigh shared some of Sarah & Rudy’s Engagement shots, from the San Diego Zoo with us, too!

As Abby would say, “Soooo stinkin’ cute!”

Here are some notes from Rebecca, the planner behind this gorgeous day…

Welcome – As guests entered the grass from the dusty gravel road, they were greeted with lavender garnished lemonade in mason jars. The property had a bunch of old paint chipped doors lying around, so we used those to make up the table tops anywhere we had an excuse to! The mason jars sat atop the wooden door (which was resting atop wine barrels) and we adorned the table with a scattering of bricks and an old crate tumbling with lemons.

Best Wishes – We used another old door table top to display Sarah and Mike’s wish table. Beautiful apothecary jars were used for guests to write notes for Sarah and Mike to open on their one-year anniversary as well as for them to take a pre-written wish that Sarah and Mike had made for their guests.

Right this Way – As a way to encourage guests to move from the welcome lawn to ceremony, I strung along an old fence a long line of twine and small clothes pins featuring dozens of photos of Sarah and Mike as babies, childhood, up until photos of them together as adults. Even the embarrassing glamour shots and awkward teenage phase photos made their debuts – guests were delighted.

Escort Cards – Juniper provided gorgeous terra cotta pots planted with herbs and lambs ear. I had guest names calligraphed on wood (tongue depressors!) and stamped table numbers in a fresh moss green.

Get Cozy – Wood boxes and baskets held slippers and pashminas encouraging women guests to kick off their heels and get cozy. The weather turned cool almost immediately after the ceremony so this touch was totally appreciated.

The Bar – I had Sarah and Mike come up with a few signature drinks that would be special to them- something they shared on a romantic vacation, their first date, a funny story, etc. We created a large chalkboard menu for them listing their signature drinks with funny and sweet descriptions of each drink and how it came to be.

The incredibly personlized touches that Rebecca infused into this wedding are just perfect. The end results seems like this magical evening, filled with intimate touches and understated elegance. From Rebecca…

I met the couple, Sarah and Mike and was instantly drawn to them. They were so full of life, so completely in love and had such an amazing energy to them. Their wedding was held in a beautiful wild garden setting, with dinner inside the old barn on the property. We took several trips to the site together and walked through at different points in the day- I always like to soak in the feelings of the day, see the way the light reflects, etc. I fell in love with the location right away – the vegetable patches and pockets of wild flowers, the bees and hummingbirds, the barn in all of its cob-webby glory- it was this perfect mish mosh of unrefined, organic elegance with a vintage rustic flair. This was the palette for the look and feel of the day and Sarah and Mike were the medium.

With this in mind, Rebecca created four different inspiration boards for the events. Here is the pre-ceremony inspiration board (click to make larger)…
