From Kate Miller Events™ …When Megan and Derek requested an elegant, modern, cocktail-style wedding, I was 100% on board. We chose a palette of creams and ivories with golden accents. A handmade metallic golden mum paper was used to line both the invitation envelopes, as well as trays used as decor on the reception coffee tables. White tulips were the flower of choice, as the Bride’s favorite flower (also a nod to Derek’s Danish heritage). Flourish created beautiful mono-botanical tulip bouquets, submerged tulip arrangements and large urn arrangements accented with hydrangea and more white tulips.

Lounge furniture created VIP seating for the front row of the ceremony and the aisle was lined with tall glass vases filled with branches appointed with pearl-like paillettes that sparkled in the low sunlight while music from Mersonacta String Quartet filled the room. Once the ceremony was complete, the Terrace was turned into an elegant cocktail reception, complete with loads of ambient candle light, uplighting along the brick walls by SJ’s DJ and amazing fire centerpieces enrobed in white rock.

Megan’s amazing Junko Yoshioka dress with it’s asymmetrical neckline was the perfect reflection of their wedding – classic modern with a twist. Her jewelry included family heirlooms – most notably, a vintage brooch that accented her custom veil made by Carole Kenney Design. Her Badgley Mischka shoes were a gorgeous golden touch. Derek and his groomsmen all wore their own slim fitting black suit and black tie.

The entire day was filled with the warmth and laughter of both Megan and Derek’s family and friends – and Travis Hoehne Photography and Frontside Films (who also did an amazing engagement video) did an excellent job capturing it all. Some of our favorite moments were: the Father of the Bride’s emotional First Look between he and his daughter, the runway walk from the uber-fabulous three year old flower girl – complete with hand-on-hip and pose, and lastly, the butler-passed salted caramel tartlets in lieu of a cake cutting.

From the Bride and Groom… We wanted the wedding to be a reflection of who we are as a couple: simple and easy going. So when we first saw the amazing waves and the black sand beach at Alila Villas Soori, we knew right away that it was the place where we wanted to celebrate our wedding with our closest friends and family. The ceremony was held at sunset where four of our closest friends spoke about us before the vows and rings exchange. The dinner reception was held next to an infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean where guests enjoyed authentic Balinese cuisine. We couldn’t have asked for a better location and a better team of people to work with throughout the entire wedding planning process. From the Bride…We wanted to have a very light, clean aesthetic, incorporating things that have been important to us and our families. We decorated the tables with test tubes, Erlenmeyer flasks, and our favorite books so that our guests would be surrounded by tokens from our leisure and livelihoods. And, of course, cotton bolls are just mini versions of white fluffy puppies!

From Tracy Taylor Ward Design…When Adrienne from Bespoke Affairs and I decided that the time had finally come to get together to produce an inspiration shoot befitting our timeless, romantic and modern ideals of love, it was only a matter of minutes before we knew exactly what needed to be done. We wanted to flip the notion of a traditional wedding on its side and break out of the box, so we decided to show what a proposal-cum-elopement (which could also translate perfectly into a vow renewal) might look like! We thought that a morning wedding (a “wakeup wedding”) would enable our couple to take the entire day thereafter to rejoice in the beauty of their newlywed bliss … And wouldn’t the voyeur in all of us enjoy a sneak peek into what could go on after-hours?

The plot reads as Anderson Parker has just proposed to Kylie Wilson. Upon arriving in New York City for a weekend away together Anderson asks Kylie to “marry me today,” and luckily for him, Kylie has eagerly accepted. Anderson has already coordinated all the wedding details in advance so that every aspect of the day will be a starry-eyed surprise and breathtaking reveal for Kylie; from her bridal gown and jewels, to the table scape, to a wedding breakfast tasting menu, all the fun and romance in store is beyond her wildest expectations. She knew he was a romantic, but he has TRULY blown her away.

I wanted the decor and styling to reflect the feeling of everything being “perfectly undone” and to portray the couple unwinding layer by layer. From the lush and flowing flowers falling off the table set for two, to the couples hair and attire gradually unraveling throughout the day, my goal was to show how natural beauty radiates from everything… Especially when you’re in love, having fun and allowing yourself to let go!

From Joshua Zuckerman Photography…Erica and Craig wanted a fun New York style party for their wedding. They chose Center 548, a new venue in the trendy meatpacking district of Manhattan. (Their wedding was the first one at Center 548). The rooftop made for a dramatic urban backdrop for the ceremony while the all white loft interior was a calming light-filled refuge for the reception with big windows to take in the city views. To keep the décor soft and pretty, they kept the color-scheme white but used soft green accents to make the room feel fresh and spring-like.

To add variety to the couple’s portraits, we took pictures at The W hotel where they got ready, and then on the streets for a gritty city element and then a few in the gardens near the West Side highway. Immediately after the ceremony, the couple took a few minutes inside the reception area for a few more photos. Erica’s gorgeous dress by Junko Yoshioka was a dream to photograph with its rich textures, details and softness. Later in the evening Erica changed into a chic gown by Ralph Lauren. The cake, a mad hatter theme, was one of the best I’ve seen. Their wedding was definitely a party – with everyone dancing from the start of the reception till the end of the night. Erica’s parents were very involved with planning the details of the wedding and they did a fantastic job.

From Unique Weddings by Alexis … This wedding felt elegant without being stuffy. It was a classy, yet had a fun and inviting atmosphere for the guests. The couple really took care to build the wedding around the natural surrounds of Quechee, Vermont.

Elegance and care of the guests were top priorities for this couple and you could see this in all aspects of the wedding. The fun color scheme of bright orange was refreshing and unique compared to the more traditional autumn colors at many September weddings.

And it was the details which really made this event unforgettable! They had custom designed CD favors at each place setting, Vermont-themed hotel welcome baskets for all of their guests, wooden signage for the wedding throughout the town, chalkboard setting charts, popcorn machine and the cutest restroom amenity baskets in their luxurious executive trailers!

From Amy Nichols Special Events…Shiva and Brett fell in love with Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley from a far, having seen a wedding from one of my clients that took place there last fall. They planned the wedding in less than six months and from nearly 3,000 miles away since they live in New York City.  Shiva is by far one of the most talented people I’ve ever met in my entire life. She is a fabric designer for many of the couture fashion houses in New York. In addition, she’s an incredibly talented artist – whatever the medium. She designed her save the dates and her entire stationery portfolio, which was complemented by Love Jenna’s gorgeous calligraphy.

We had a fantastic team of vendors, including the amazing Alisha + Brook photographing the event, and Gina from Lola Video documenting the day on Super 8. A Taste of Elegance prepared the plated dinner and blew everyone away with the food during the cocktail hour — the lollipop garden and artichoke bar were big crowd pleasers. Flower Affairs, a family friend of the bride’s did the floral design.

The day started with a traditional Persian ceremony, followed by a traditional Western ceremony. A highlight had to be the butterflies which were released at the end of the ceremony, a surprise from the bride’s brother & sister-in-law. Another highlight of the weekend was the Klezemer Band, the Petrojvic Blasting Company from Los Angeles which were a HUGE hit. They were so talented and played fun and festive music. I cannot wait to have an occasion to use them again.

After dinner, dancing took place in Holman’s beautiful barn, and later in the evening, the dessert lounge in the Rose Patio opened complete with a bon-bon girl, passed desserts and a white chocolate mousse cake from Fleur de Cocoa. Platinum Status ended the evening with a mellow acoustic set as guests enjoyed coffee and delicious sweet treats.

From the Bride… We knew that Colorado would be the location for our wedding, partly because it is where we met, but also because it served as a reasonable middle ground for our families coming from Maine and California. Redstone is a small, rustic town located an hour’s drive from Aspen. It is a very quiet village, tucked into a beautiful canyon with red sandstone cliffs towering above. The river that runs through it is gold medal fly-fishing water, and there is endless hiking and exploring nearby. Our ceremony was everything to us. It was as heartfelt, creative and magical as we ourselves felt that day.

Our reception occurred in two different locations: inside the historic Redstone Inn for dinner and outside under the canopy for dessert, toasts and dancing. We wanted people to move about and feel a part of the Inn as if it were their home. We focused on all of the major aspects of the wedding and our friends joined together to help with the details. The wines were all from small California wineries near my hometown and the beer was brewed by a close friend’s microbrewery. We had a locally grown garland of hops surrounding the serving table and the food was a true representation of local Colorado cuisine. My sister did the bouquet arrangements and some friends decorated the canopy with aspen branches that made a lovely sound when the wind blew. We made CD’s as our thank you gift for everyone, which were also used as place cards. It was not too formal and full of energy and life. Our friend’s band and DJ combined efforts to put on one of the best dance parties that any of us have experienced. It began with a surprise first dance song that was an amazing Taj Mahal version of “Corina, Corina.” We could not have been happier and all our friends and family are still talking about it what an amazing party it was.
