Sedona Bride is one of the most talented photography teams out there and I am thrilled to post this wedding that they sent me! First, the INSANELY gorgeous pictures…
The bride is half East-Indian and her dress was handmade in India. She surprised her fiance with her traditional attire and unbeknownst to her, he donned a traditional men’s gown for the affair. Gorgeous. The combination of the absolutely beautiful fashion, paired with the stark beauty of the location turned into a STUNNING affair with pictures that should be in a magazine!
You guys know how much I love inspiration boards. Such a great way to bring your vision into one, cohesive place. To see how an inspiration board translates into a real wedding is just about as good as it gets for me. So, when Maya sent me the pictures from her recent wedding, I swooned.
Way back in March of 2007, we created this inspiration board for Maya, who was looking for help designing her Muslim/Indian/Pakistani inspired wedding…
I have always had a love for the Indian culture…the vibrant colors, the rich tradition, the elegance. And, having seen the beauty of an Indian inspired wedding, I am now even more enraptured.
Thus, I was thrilled when Priya, over at Love Made Visible, sent me a heads-up that the second edition of her South Asian inspired online magazine, Nirali, is now out…and it’s a wedding issue! Definitely go check out the site, as the pictures are over-the-top, drool-worthy. And, she has some brilliant ideas for any type of wedding!
This particular inspiration board was really fun for me…Maya has asked me to come up with some ideas for her Muslim/Indian/Pakistani inspired wedding, that in my opinion, already sounds spectacular. I have had a love affair with India’s vibrant colors and textures for some time now, though unfamiliar with the various wedding customs of the culture. This was such a great opportunity to discover beautiful traditions and touches that can be incorporated into all types of weddings.
Here is what I came up with…
It’s all in the details. I admit, a bit cliche, but when it comes to a wedding, it’s so true. Chances are, most of your guests won’t remember the pretty flowers you placed in the bathroom or the flawless topiaries that covered up corners, the crisp linen napkins that are the perfect shade of green or the pattern on your cake that took weeks to design. What they will notice, however, is the big picture…the style. And most of the time, that style is the result of many, many beautiful details that you thoughtfully infuse into various elements throughout the entire affair.
