From I Do… Weddings! … Heather and Nick were married on July 29 in San Diego. Their ceremony took place at the Immaculate Concepcion Church in Old Town San Diego. Their reception for almost 200 guests took place at Marina Village, in the Mission Bay area of San Diego.

Heather and Nick’s wedding was very much a reflection of their interpretation of a vintage wedding, with a San Diego twist. Their ceremony photos took place in the historic and oldest area of San Diego called Old Town. The celebration was certainly a labor of love for both families. Almost every detail of the day was handmade. For example, the Mother of the Bride hand painted every single charger, created a unique display of glass shutters for seating arrangements, as well as the bride’s incredible brooch bouquet. The Mother of the Bride also hand-created beautiful and ornate Save-The-Dates and programs. The Mother of the Groom made incredible programs, as well as provided fun vintage signage.

The bride and groom served a fun signature drink, “Love Spell,” a blueberry daquiri with fresh blueberries. Heather and Nick also displayed photos from their engagement shoot (shot by Acqua Photo), as well as family wedding photos. Their cake was served as individual tiers, served on a vintage cake rack, with bridesmaid bouquets tucked throughout the rack. Vintage porcelain bells were placed on each table for guests to ring for the newlyweds to kiss. The room was swagged with organza and white twinkle lights to create a warm and inviting environment. At each placesetting was a cherub, holding a sign that read “Love in Bloom” and was filled with complimentary florals. At each table was a centerpiece of colorful hydrangeas, crystals and cut glass and candles for a romantic effect.

After leaving the ceremony, the newlyweds sped off in a classic car after an exciting send off by guests with ribbon wands. And, to keep the dance floor packed all evening, a vintage bicycle was placed on the dance floor with a basket filled with flowers. At the base of the bicycle was a basket of flip flops to help ensure guests could dance all night.

We decided on a New Year’s inspired elopement shoot. It was perfect! The color scheme we chose was mainly all white on white with touches of fuchsia and sparkly silver. This made our New Years Inspired shoot so fun to create. What bride doesn’t want to be the center of attention for her special day? Our New Year’s Eve bride sure does!

Concepts Event Design allowed us to use their showroom for the venue space, and all the fun goodies that came along with it! The sleek clear tables, and bright white chairs and linens made it a perfect New Years Eve elopement. We added touches of sparkly silver bowls, disco balls, and strands of mirrors hanging from manzanita branches. We even gave our couple sparklers to ring in their New Years together. The yummy sugary white cake pops, cupcakes, and mini wedding cake were provided by the lovely ladies Sydney and Sarah of Tailored Sweets. We definitely wanted to make sure there was a little pop of color so we went bold with Fuchsia Peonies for the flowers, and fuchsia and purple socks for our groom. A couple that gets married on New Years definitely want to party and celebrate!

Our Bride and Groom get the best out of their wedding experience by eloping on New Years! Great champagne, a hang over kit (just in case), sparklers, noisemakers in the bouquet, and also as a corsage! This couple had it all. And to top it all off they glammed it up in a convertible Jaguar as their get away car! What better way to bring in the New Year then saying “I DO”!

My wife, Lauren, and I have been in love with the Eastern Sierras every since the first time we visited there together about 5 or 6 years ago. We love going skiing every winter on Mammoth mountain and hiking the beautiful trails in the summer. Last summer, while on one of our favorite hikes, it dawned on us that we should consider getting married in the area. Of course, I hadn’t even proposed at that point but when you’ve been together for 11 years, the conversation comes up!

We decided that we would get married at a gorgeous glacial lake just south of Mammoth called Convict Lake. Once we saw it, we knew that it was the perfect place for our ceremony. We’re not the most traditional couple so the thought of a wedding in the great outdoors sounded like our style. We also loved the idea of all our family and friends coming up for a weekend to experience the place we love so much with us for such a momentous occasion.

The rehearsal dinner was set on top of Mammoth mountain, which made for a spectacular view when the sun set over the mountains. The whole experience was amazing and the best part was having all the guests take a gondola ride up to the restaurant at the top, which we kept a surprise until they arrived.

The ceremony was absolutely stunning (despite the intense wind that day!) and our reception was held next to a grove of aspen trees. There was one special aspen that I had carved our initials into a year earlier that turned into a sort of wedding logo during all the planning. After some incredible speeches (including my father-in-law’s, complete with choreographed dancers!) I played my wife a song that I written especially for the big day. Seeing as how our first kiss came after I attempted to give her a guitar lesson so many years ago, it was only fitting to bring it full circle with a song of her own.

That night was so special and the love we felt for each other, our friends and our family is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. I would have felt lucky to marry my wife anywhere but the setting we chose could not have been more perfect.

And just to give her a little more SMP luv, we thought it would be fun to show you just a bit of her own wedding!

Sarah fell in love with all-things-wedding when she was planning her April 2007 marriage to Rudy … and what resulted was a terrific wedding at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Her wedding was featured in the San Diego Wedding Magazine, but since it’s been awhile … and because we love to feature our Little Black Book vendors’ own weddings … we wanted to show you again!

Leigh Miller, their fabulous photographer, said this on her blog …

What a fabulous wedding it was. And what made it even more fabulous was that Sarah and Rudy designed so many of their details – from the table cards, to the clay cake topper of themselves, and their own logo. So many awesome personal touches. And I can honestly say every single person they had working on their wedding did a great job  ~ ~~  Melissa from I Do….Weddings did a spectacular job keeping everything going, despite about 2,000 people at the Wild Animal Park!

The ceremony was beautiful and in their vows they said something that I thought is really important to remember,

“I promise to care more about your feelings than about being right.”

I must admit there was some serious laughter when they each said that.

Leigh shared some of Sarah & Rudy’s Engagement shots, from the San Diego Zoo with us, too!

As Abby would say, “Soooo stinkin’ cute!”
