From Melissa, the bride…

In choosing our venue, we had our friends and family in mind.  Both our families are in the Midwest, so we wanted to give them a quintessential San Francisco experience.  The Flood Mansion, perched atop Pacific Heights, exhibits magnificent views of the city, the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge.  The classically designed mansion was the vision of the famous San Francisco architect Julia Morgan and was the perfect backdrop for the old Hollywood glamour theme that infused our event.  The ceremony took place in the magnificent bay window as sunlight streamed in.

I wore a silk chiffon Amy Michealson gown, silk chiffon opera length gloves, a couture cocktail hat with birdcage veil, vintage inspired peep-toed ivory silk shoes by Grazia, a collection of antique jewelry borrowed from my Godmother, and a unique antique metal mesh cocktail purse in lieu of a bouquet.  For the piece de resistance, my husband designed a modern, architectural looking pendant using the diamonds from my grandmother’s wedding ring (Both my grandparents passed away 4 years ago).  (Hair by Sarah Morris, make-up by renowned MAC artists Brian Campbel and Daniel Belena).

My husband wore a midnight blue, two-button Hugo Boss suit adorned with Tiffany & Co. cufflinks designed by Frank Gehry.  The bridesmaids selected their own midnight blue dresses and carried a loose bouquet of French white tulips tied with a long white ribbon.  The groomsmen selected their own navy blue suits and coordinating ties.  I walked down the aisle to my favorite Beatles song, “Here, There, and Everywhere,” played by a string quartet, and my husband’s and my first dance was swing style to Nat King Cole’s timeless L-O-V-E.

So those people you see dancing on the bar, they were the caterers! As soon as the desserts were served they jumped up on the bar and broke it down just to make sure the party was in high gear! Margaux and Beck even handed out little Oscar statuettes to the “film-makers” that helped make their wedding special.

I am absolutely loving the way Jesse and Whitney used the natural lighting in these photos to totally play up the drama. Also, how gorgeous is the backdrop of Union Station in Los Angeles? I’ve heard the architecture there is awesome, and it certainly looks it from these photos. Oh, and wait until you see how hoola hoops made their way into the rest of this fabulous celebration!

I love the Old Hollywood, very glam feel. The rest of the event is just so fun, you have to come back and see everything that Beck and Margaux did to celebrate their day!
