Holiday Table Settings & Color Stories From Eclatante Designs!

We haven’t featured Kendall Brown’s Color Stories for quite awhile, so we have a little catching up to do!

However, before we get to that, I have to share a little more holiday eye candy! From Eclatante’s Boutique, some super-stylish inspiration for your holiday table …

Take a pair of dove salt/pepper shakers and add these to some gorgeous red felt placemats and some individual hand-blown vases filled with berries …

… some stylish bay leaf napkin rings and for fun, these snowflake place cards and voilá!

Kendall Brown, creator of Eclatante has an extraordinary reputation for designing and assisting couples orchestrate the most fabulous weddings imaginable. Her website is filled to the brim with lovely examples of many of these affairs. Eclatante’s blog, A Designer’s Diary is also packed with all kinds of helpful information and SO much eye candy! One of their regular features are monthly ‘color stories’. Long before we began featuring photo shoots and Inspiration to Reality features, we were sharing Kendall’s Color Stories. Marie Labbancz is the fabulous photographer of the images. LBB member, Donna O’Brien of Beautiful Blooms is almost always involved in the fantastic floral designs. We’ve missed a few months, so here’s a quick peek at the last three months!

Defining Your Color Palette

Color. It’s something that we talk about all the time on SMP. Determining your color palette is one of the first steps in creating a wedding that is uniquely you…a palette that compliments your venue, that defines your look, that allows you to design a wedding that reflects your own style and personality.

When I saw this purple inspired affair, I just about fell out of my chair. This wedding is a lesson in color palettes. A perfect interpretation of what we believe is so important in defining your colors…layering. Varying shades of color so that there is a depth, a dimension to your style. So that your guests don’t see blocks of color, but rather a perfectly cohesive, seamless affair where effortless elegance takes center stage.

Inspiration Boards: From Room to Reality

I have always been a firm believer in the power of an inspiration board and now that it’s a total trend all over the internet, it’s fun to see the different approaches that people take with them. Little Black Dress Competition Winners!

Well, the voting has come to a close and it’s time to announce the winner in our Little Black Dress competition! I, for one, loved every minute of it. Such fun color palettes, gorgeous dresses and hours upon hours of style inspiration. Doesn’t get much better than that!

It looks like the voting was more of an arms race as to who has more friends (which is fine, as it brings SMP to people who might not have known about us) BUT, as it turns out, the winner is one of my own personal favorites! So, I can’t really complain!

This board was featured on Day 2 and brings together those amazingly rich purple hues into a style that is not only chic and oh-so-right-now, it’s also incredibly timeless in it’s beauty.

Thank you so much to EVERYONE that entered! We are keeping all of the boards in our Color Palettes category so that your designs will serve as inspirations to brides for years to come!

Wedding Invitations by East Six

I wanted to showcase a few more invitation designers today, one of which is the FABULOUS East Six…

How incredible is this purple inspired invitation? It’s ornate, it’s chic and it’s shockingly beautiful! Every single custom piece that East Six has designed is just as wonderful. There isn’t a bad apple in the bunch!

That strawberry hue paired with the deep chocolate is delicious. I would kill to see a picture of how this particular wedding turned out…with the incredible invitation as an introduction, it was probably pretty amazing!

For some serious inspiration, spend some time on the East Six site…the color palettes alone are enough to inspire an entire wedding style!

When I told my dear friend Cat of Cat Seto in San Francisco, who just happens to be one of the most talented designers around, about Pink Week on SMP…she was so excited, she designed this insanely gorgeous watercolor notecard to celebrate the occassion!

Each of the 10 notecards that Cat is giving away to a lucky reader, is embellished with the most gorgeous Swarovski Crystals…if you haven’t seen Cat’s work in person, the images just don’t do it justice. It’s honestly, gorgeous.

For this giveaway, we’re asking brides all about their color palette…what colors are you loving right now?? We’ll pick a random winner! Oh, and definitely check out Cat’s awesome blog, ShopFriends, when you have a minute!
