1. Ban.do: The summer of love is going strong over at Ban.do!  Their accessories are always the life of the party from giant flower poufs to sweet neon and gold headbands.

2. Purse: I love this hot pink and leather envelope clutch by Clare Vivier.  It’s the perfect size for holding your bright orange lipstick!

3. Margarita pops: Margaritas are the ultimate California cocktail.  What could be more refreshing?  How about margarita pops in fun, flashy colors!  Give your guests a cool down before the ceremony gets started!

4. Tolix Chairs: These yellow beauties have been popping up all over the design magazines and blogs.  I would love to see them all lined up against white linens for a splash of color.

5. Kate Spade Flats: How cute are these neon and neutral flats from Kate Spade?  They would be so sweet peeking out from under a wedding dress.

6. Yellow Eyeliner: California girls aren’t afraid of a little color.  Update your normal make-up routine with a pop of color on your lids or lips!

7. Bridesmaids: I am just bananas over this outfit.  I would love to see a bridesmaid rock this oh-so-chic, two-piece, bright orange and pink ensemble complete with yellow sandals!

8. Bouquet: Who doesn’t love a bright, bold peony bouquet?  The billy balls turn this classic cluster into a whimsical arrangement.

9. Invitations: Your invitations should set the mood for your bold, modern bash!  I love all the collections over at Fig 2 Design Studio.  Their clean, crisp and colorful designs are absolutely perfect for this chic celebration!

10. Nail Polish: I am actually wearing this nail polish right now and it totally brightens up my day.  Even if you are afraid of wild hues, I promise, after wearing this shade for a day you’ll be a total color-convert like me!

So what can we take from this first fête? Obviously, the couple choose yellow for their big day. The color closely associated with sunshine, warmth, and happiness. But to avoid the yellow being overwhelming, which is a definite threat, they chose to incorporate the color in the florals alone. Almost all other colors of the affair are neutral, allowing the yellow to take center stage, along with the couple, of course. The black attire of the bridal party, the white bridal gown and linens, and the green foliage backdrop all allowed a minimal amount of the vibrant hue to make a big impact.

With associations like passion, sophistication, and wisdom, a purple wedding is bound to be good. This wedding differs from the first wedding from Fleurs de France, in the fact that purple is everywhere. It’s on the ‘maids dresses, on the tablescapes, in the florals. It could be overwhelming, if there were no accent colors. My absolute favorite thing about this Napa Wedding is the contrasting Mother’s dress. She picked a color that worked so well with the purple and pink palette, yet was completely different. The wedding was outdoors, which means there was a plethora of green, brown, wood, stone. Each of these colors and textures works with the purple in a different, great way – balancing the vibrancy from the other side of the color wheel.

Last on our list we have another Sonoma wedding photographed by Deborah Laver Photography. You can see the whole beautiful affair in the gallery.

This one is very different. While the amazing florals from this wedding had a rosy tint, the rest of the wedding was very neutral. There are lots of whites, the color of purity, cleanliness, and peace. This is a great option to go with if your wedding will take place outdoors, where nature provides the most beautiful color palette. The white details of this wedding serve as a canvas featuring the stunning couple and the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country. Very minimal color was used, but the effect is breathtaking.

All three of these weddings could have had completely different feels if the palettes had changed. All had very similar backdrops – wine country, lots of greens, natural land – but each had a different feel because of the colors chosen. One thing I’ve picked up from studying gorgeous weddings on a daily basis, is that a little color goes a long way. You can see this in all three of these weddings. The yellow florals in the first wedding made the entire affair feel happy. The deep purples in the second wedding were juxtaposed perfectly with the natural world around for a moody, luxe feel. The neutral whites of the final wedding let the surroundings set the mood – clean and fresh.

From Edyta Szyszlo Photography…Greetings from San Francisco! With so much eye candy on the wedding scene, it was time to put San Francisco on the map! We wanted to capture some elements reminiscent of our city in the inspirational design—Victorian architecture, diverse color, the California Gold Rush, natural beauty of the area, all with a modern twist. The goal was to showcase charming details, a bit of our city’s history mixed with the easy-going elegance that our SF brides strive for.

Our color palette and patterns were an eclectic variety of golds, poppy/cherry reds, slate/seaspray blues, celery greens and buttery creams. We wanted to add a pop of vintage pattern in some of the key details such as the tablecloths, favors and pillows. Olivia’s menu, table number and invitation set complimented the mood of timeless elegance with a fun twist.

Brocade and broach napkin rings, vintage demitasse cups as favors and place card holders, as well as the wrought iron lounge furniture were all added for Victorian appeal. The gold-rimmed dinnerware, gold flatware, gold dining chairs and gold-rimmed wine glasses added some glamour and elegance to our outdoor setting.

Seasonal florals accented all three areas. The dinner centerpiece made from bunches of Snowball Viburnum tucked into a two-tiered planter found at a thrift store. The dessert table held Strawberry tarts, red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, madelines topped with gold-leaf, and dark-chocolate truffles, and was accented with succulents and a bunch of Dusty Miller in an urn made of white milk glass. The lounge area was simply accented with a self-standing bouquet of cream tulips surrounded by fresh mint. Lidia hung recycled glass fluted jars from the tree – add candles or fresh flowers for an extra pop.

Kendall Brown, the creative genius at Eclatante, is an incredibly talented event designer.  She has started publishing monthly Color Stories on her website that we think you really will LOVE. Last month, we featured Kendall’s “hot and cold running (perfect) pinks” on out Little Black Book Blog:  “Girls Only Wedding Party” .

Today, though, it’s March! You just have to think spring!! And as we turn the corner into spring … we’re bringing you a sneak peek of  Eclatante’s March Color Story: All About Blue.

Just a quick blip from the March Color Story on Kendall’s blog:  “Bill and Donna of Beautiful Blooms were the ultimate perfectionists creating their gorgeous florals that adorned this fantasy perfectly. The centerpiece consisted of three vases wrapped in white lace paper filled with a mixed arrangement of purple hydrangea, deep plum tulips, blue curiosa roses, purple double lisianthus and muscari. At the base of the vases were smaller vases with lace accents filled with muscari. The whole table was accented with navy blue skinny taper candles.”

Their wedding reception was at the classic Parker House in Boston. Abby is always urging you to do little things to make your wedding reflect your own personality. Let’s see what you think about her little touches at their reception …

Abby wanted a wedding cake that shimmered, but no adornment. She wanted the ballroom to be filled with candles, white feathers and lots of crystals, but all of the flowers needed to be tidy and simple. She wanted the deepest brown linens that we could find, and one show-stopping (white) floral arrangement.

I made one minor adjustment. The cake was beautiful, but it really needed something … so I pulled a flower from a nearby table centerpiece and placed it on top of the cake. I didn’t tell her. She loved it.

At the time she married Tait, she owned Abby Jean Press, a lovely engraved wedding invitation company. So she quite naturally, designed their invitation and all paper pieces that go along with a wedding. Rather than having a guest book, she made cards for their guests to write notes upon. We filled large (inexpensive) vases with feathers nearby for them to be dropped in. We engraved an “L”  on mint julep cups that contained little bunches of flowers throughout the reception space and on the tables. Family took these home as mementos of the day. We found mirrored frames that we used for numbering the tables. We only tried to buy decorative items that could be used as favors or used in our homes after the wedding.  Mostly we found accessories in antique shops, on e-bay and at our local Hobby Lobby! Sarah at Spruce Floral took all of our booty and pulled it together into a glittering reception space.

There’s so much more! With every wedding there always is …
