From our first meeting with Lanye, I knew her wedding was going to ooze Southern Elegance. Her taste in everything from colors to florals was gorgeous and her choices made a truly beautiful wedding come to life. The Inn at Carnall Hall is the perfect choice for a quaint southern soiree as it’s historic pink brick and white columns provide the perfect backdrop for any event.

Lanye and Vance chose Memorial Day weekend to tie the knot, which was perfect as it closely followed Vance’s graduation from West Point.

Lanye decided to have her ceremony in the round under a dazzling hanging chandelier. From the ceremony, guests moved inside to experience the amazing food from Ella’s, Carnall Hall’s top rated restaurant. The evening ended with family and friends dancing the night away.

From Evan of MyDeejay … This wedding was such a pleasure to be a part of. Cassandra and Ricardo were adorable and their friends and family were really in the mood to dance once the sun went down.  Janice Carnevale from Bellwether Events put together an amazing team and managed everything brilliantly, which let me focus on my core job of making sure everyone had a fabulous time.  The couple kept all of the traditional formalities on the program and everything was executed perfectly.  It was a great start to what I’m sure will be a long and happy marriage!

On a gorgeous September afternoon,  Ricardo and I were married in the Virginia suburbs at Saint Timothy’s Catholic Church.  After mass (where we had the my dad’s only request – a bagpiper) guests were shuttled to Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg for cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Upon arrival at the Oatlands, the guests picked up their escort card from a moss covered table and signed the guest book – a photo book of Italy, where we would soon be honeymooning. A classical guitarist played in the background while guests mixed and mingled.

After inviting the guests to join us in the tent for dinner, the wedding party was introduced, grace was said and my dad offered his welcome remarks, bringing a smile to everyone’s faces. There was a two course plated meal, followed by a port tasting, cake and champagne, a surprise (for Ricardo) ice cream bar, cordials with coffee AND giant chocolate chip cookies to send guests on their way at the end of the night.

from Martha … Nicole and Justin’s wedding took place at The Citizen in downtown Sacramento. The Citizen is a beautiful historic building that was made into a boutique hotel. The planners were Lisa and Marci with A Joyous Occasion .

Lisa is an artist and created the logo on the couple’s invitation. This logo was carried throughout the wedding ~ the petal aisle at the ceremony, lighting on the walls of the reception and even on the wedding night bed. There were so many lovely touches. After the ceremony on the tented 7th floor terrace, the guests went down to the scandal bar in the hotel for cocktail hour. Meanwhile the terrace was reconfigured for dinner, along with a lounge. Feathers and crystals were featured everywhere, with crystals strung with flowers hung from the chandeliers.

A canvas and paints were provided for all the guests to add a stroke to what would become a piece of art to hang in the couples home.

What a fantastic idea and great memento from the day!

Lorraine & Sanders were married in April at the Legare-Waring House in Charleston.  What an amazingly beautiful place!!  The day was captured on film by the super-talented Richard Israel …

This beautiful day was choreographed by another Little Black Book member, Melissa Barton and her terrific team at A Charleston Bride! They pretty much do it all … event decor and design, coordination, AND floral design. Wow. What a gorgeous event this was!

We asked Melissa to share a little of Lorraine & Sanders’ story …

Lorraine is a very successful (and busy) woman so she gave me a lot of free reign with the design. She knew she wanted bright pink and black as her color palette, but was open to any suggestions from there. As a matter of fact, she was pleasantly surprised at her bouquet as she really wasn’t sure what it would look like! She loved the southern charm of the Legare-Waring House with the oak trees dripping with moss and alligators relaxing on the bank of the pond so we kept it simple and elegant. Everything was clean, not fussy which fit Lorraine and Sanders’ personalities perfectly. It truly reflected their style and the guests were in awe!

Film vs. digital vs. a combination is one of the key decisions you need to make as a couple when choosing your wedding photographer! There are pros and cons to both, and lots of passion for both. And speaking of modern, fresh designs, I am also loving the oh-so-now purple hues in this next set of flowers. The purple undertones add a bit of depth and dimension, so the end effect isn’t quite as girly as your standard pink style…

Pinks tend to go in one direction or another…either a bit red/orange or a bit blue/purple. The purple hues are perfect for a bit more edgy, modern affair. I love the sleek sophistication of the bottom photo…a more architectural approach to floral design.
