From Sterling Engagements … Nicole and Matt are one of those dynamic couples that have a love for life and really know how to have a great time.  From our initial meeting, I immediately knew Nicole was a bride that knew exactly what she wanted and I was so thrilled to assist her in executing it.

Their wedding took place in Nicole’s parents’ gorgeous home in Coto De Coza, California.  The time leading up to the wedding was definitely unique as her father was remodeling their home up until the final days before her and Matt’s big day.  The entire grounds were transformed into this lush gorgeous oasis, Nicole really wanted to compliment this through her design.

Her and Matt had somewhat modern taste and she wanted something elegant yet fun to match their uber chic style.  It was crucial that their wedding was sexy and had a vibe that was almost intoxifying.  The design aesthetic developed into a Modern Elegance meets Miami Chic using predominantly black and white in their color palette with some green.

Nicole and Matt’s ceremony took place under the gazebo overlooking the pool.  We had several rows of white lounge benches for guests to comfortably enjoy their sweet nuptials under umbrellas.  The aesthetic of the palm trees and the pool in combination with swanky furniture, romantic white florals and draping really created the perfect environment.

Cocktails both pre- and post- ceremony were up at the outdoor bar where we setup an elaborate artesian station featuring a variety of meats, cheeses fruits and nuts.  Their signature cocktail was the 10.10.10 which featured a kiss of vodka, a smooth splash of soda and a zesty sweet wedge of lemon.

Dinner was served on the opposite side of the backyard where we created an intimate grouping of feasting tables in combination with some rounds.  For the feasting tables we used black lamour linens with a black and white damask runner, then for the rounds we coordinated using the black and white damask linen.  Amanda Crawford from AC Floral designed incredible arrangements incorporating lilies which Nicole had a love for.  She also used an assortment of green spider mums, dendrobium orchids and green limbo roses.  The look was very modern, clean and symmetrical yet stunning.

Nicole and Matt are such a fun couple and their wedding was such a celebration, which is why it was no surprise how hot the dance floor was immediately following dinner.  Guests returned back to the pool area which was transitioned into a stylish lounge to really get the party started.  DJ Nahchey spun hits and really set the tone for the remainder of the evening.  After the cake was cut guests enjoyed bite-size treats by Fantasy Frostings.  Between cake pops, half dipped cookies and mini tarts the night could not have gotten any sweeter!

Moving along  …. to today’s featured wedding sent to us by Becca at A Stylish Soiree in Dallas. Becca and her marvelous team at A Stylish Soiree helped Melissa with her overall wedding vision, helped her work out the details and also went on to create the wonderful floral decor you’ll see here today.

Melissa, knew what she wanted from the very beginning, conveyed her likes and her “not-so-much” thoughts to Becca and after a few consultations, they came up with a perfect game plan …

Melissa and Braydn wanted a sweet and warm-hearted classic chapel wedding followed by a chic, modern celebration. The lovely ladies at A Stylish Soiree helped her achieve exactly that!  A simple religious ceremony at their college campus chapel, filled with school friends, life-long friends and their loving families … well, that’s a forever kind of wedding!

Melissa and Braydn were college sweethearts and really wanted to go back to their roots at Texas Christian University to have their wedding. The ceremony was held on campus at the Robert Carr Chapel.

Becca & Kerrie at A Stylish Soiree helped Melissa and Braydn choreograph the details of the day and created the super floral decor that became an integral part of the loveliness of the day~

From Becca …

Melissa loved the happy-go-lucky look of polka dots, so we incorporated that wherever we could … pillows, ribbons, paper lanterns and fabric-wrapped vases.

The paper lantern design was a challenge … we used a lighting company but had to work extra hard with the venue to get it approved. After twisting their arms, they finally approved it for this event only!!! It is truly one of a kind lighting.

The wedding cake was designed by Colleen’s Cakes. Instead of a groom’s cake, they served a special groom’s family recipe called “Whoopie Pies” that were made by the groom’s mother and sister!

Planning their wedding was so easy because their style NEVER changed. Melissa knew exactly what she wanted from the start and never changed her mind about it!

And from the beautiful bride, Melissa …

Braydn and I were so excited to get started planning our big day last year. The whole process turned out to be a such a blast because of the amazing people we worked with from day one. We wanted to mix both modern and traditional decor to make the big day classic and unforgettable. With the mix of flowers, wheat grass, large lanterns, and custom touches our reception turned out just how we had imagined. All of our family and friends were able to come and celebrate with us at our very own stylish soiree!

The wedding reception was held at The Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth. Pretty awesome wedding venue!

From the bride, Carrie…

Our color palette was very classic and timeless: black, various shades of green, cream, and silver. As for bridesmaids, I wanted them to look just as fabulous as me and not cookie-cutter. I searched for an interesting designer black dress for my maids for months, but unfortunately I was looking in the wrong season. I ended up finding Jenny Yoo’s bridesmaids collection at The Gown Boutique of Charleston and fell in love with the versatility in the styles and was in love with the fabric. I took my sister and my two best friends to try them on (all with different body types) and they all looked fabulous – SOLD! I had Heather Key Tiller from Filigree custom design necklaces for each attendant. Heather used vintage chains and belts and attached beautiful crystals at the end. Each necklace unique and versatile- I LOVED THEM. I also gave each of my girls a vintage hankie to tote with them down the aisle.

All of the men wore a tux from Jos. A. Bank including my precious nephew who was our ring bearer, but Charlie decided they should all wear a vintage skinny black tie with the exception of himself in a traditional bow-tie.

My dress was a gorgeous silk gown by Amy Kuschel which I purchased at The Gown Boutique of Charleston. I loved my dress – it felt like butter on and gave me an awesome hour-glass shape. Very vintage-chic. I wore a birdcage veil and vintage crystal earrings, bracelets and a borrowed diamond band from my mother. I had fabulous silver Delman peep tow sling backs…LOVE them. I changed into a Lela Rose short shift dress that had embroidered silver circles in the fabric…LOVE LOVE.

Add another LBB super-star to the team, Dawn Stone of Embellishmint Floral and Event Design Studio, and voila!…an extraordinary melange of floral treats and accoutrements that were the talk of the evening.

Floral Sushi…

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful? Rebecca referred to Andrea and Scott’s wedding colors as black, white, and wasabi green. Pretty clever!

According to Rebecca …

From the get go, Andrea and Scott set out to create a wedding that celebrated what they value most: each other, their family and friends, self-expression, and creativity. Andrea and Scott met in Los Angeles where they were both sound mixers for television and film (Andrea worked for several years on The Real World and Scott worked for Bunim Murray Productions). With a clear but very open vision, the couple let creativity reign supreme from scouting an urban venue for the event to selecting the best match for our floral and event design partner, Embellishmint Floral and Event Design Studio.

Dawn Stone and her team at Embellishmint created contemporary personal florals that complimented the clean look of Andrea and Scott’s attire.

Andrea and Scott wanted an Asian-inspired theme to set the stage for (but not overpower) their décor.  Music was VERY important to the couple–and was a defining element of the event.  And the cake … oohh the cake! It served as a focal point that brought all theme, color and personality together.

The escort card table was stunning with the “floral sushi”.

Bamboo centerpieces strung with votives, and screens upshot with lighting brought warmth and play to all levels of the room.

The rooftops of downtown San Diego framed the magic of their ceremony and the Manchester Grand Hyatt served as a perfect place to celebrate with friends, family and loved ones.

Jay Reilly masterfully captured the love and fun that flowed, as well as the unique beauty of the environment and people.

The team of vendors who partnered to actualize Andrea and Scott’s day were a perfect fit and are folks that we  at Red Letter Days refer often.
