Within our Little Black Book, there are groups of vendors that tend to work together on some of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. Whether it’s that they just luck out with great clients or they simply work beautifully together, the three vendors that helped to build this affair are simply genius.

Lyndsey Hamilton is the fabulous planner behind the day, Matthew Robbins of Artfool is the designer and florist responsible for the pure gorgeousness and Jake McBride of Christian Oth Studios is the photographer responsible for the perfect photographs…love, love, love.

More to come in just a flash! Oh and see those perfect purple arrangements on the table above…well imagine that as a kicking off point for the unbelievably beautiful reception!

Lyndsey Hamilton is the ridiculously talented planner behind today’s first real wedding. She collaborated with some of my all time favorite vendors, including florist and event designer Matthew Robbins of Artfool and photographer Jake McBride for Christian Oth, to pull together a wedding that is as timeless as it is chic, as elegant as it is personal.

The wedding was held at the bride’s father’s Flower Farm (wow) and set the backdrop for Matthew Robbins to work his magic. It seems that every detail just flowed so effortlessly into the next, with a casual elegance and a formal flair that is completely and totally beautiful.

And as usual, the photos that Jake McBride for Christian Oth Studio shot, have left my heart a flutter. They are simply stunning. We have so much more to come from this beautiful affair including an incredible pop of color in the reception decor. Big time gorgeous.

Connectictut Wedding with Grace and Elegance

We are back from a whirlwind weekend in Aspen, where we attended one of my dear friend’s RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous wedding. Seriously one of the prettiest weddings I’ve ever seen (we’ll have more details on Backstage when it launches this week). It was a much needed vaca and has left me totally invigorated and excited to get back to SMP.

And the wedding that we are featuring today is the perfect way to kick off the week…filled to the brim with elegance and style. Plus, the affair was a orchestrated by a bevy of SMP’s Little Black Book Vendors which always makes me really happy. The AMAZING Lyndsey Hamilton planned the entire wedding, while Matthew Robbins of Artfool did the florals and event design and Jake McBride for Christian Oth photographed the story. It’s a lesson in perfection…despite nature’s imperfections!

From the lovely, lovely Lyndsey Hamilton…

White Flower Farm is owned by the bride’s father, Eliot Wadsworth. WFF is a world-famous flower farm that grows and exports rare and exotic flowers. The farm also raises livestock. The caterer, Marcey Brownstein, actually used the farm raised beef for the reception meal!

We worked with Eve from the beginning of the planning: hiring all the vendors, orchestrating the details and coordination, and executing the production of the wedding day. The ceremony took place at Litchfield Congregation Church, then guests returned to the farm for the tented reception. The bride wore Vera Wang and then changed into a party dress. The bridesmaids also wore Vera Wang and their dresses were altered to a short version of the original design.

Multi-Cultural Affair by Christian Oth Studios, III

There is nothing subtle about this wedding. It’s an absolute celebration of all things gorgeous…color that is as vivid as it is chic, style that is undeniably breathtaking and a sense of joy that is threaded into every detail. Art Direction, design and planning by the bride and groom (Ravi and Kristi), event coordination and production by Spotlight Style.

Oh and the photographs by Michael Falco for Christian Oth completely bring it to life!

Our interfaith reverend, Rev. Susanna Stefanachi Macomb, was amazing! There was not one dry eye left and she managed to capture us perfectly and inject some humor too! It was simply breathtaking. She honored our love, she honored our parents, she spoke so poignantly. Her words and our words coupled with the vibrant Mandap, which is a 4 pillared Hindu altar, were stunning.

We used the fabrics from India coupled with ones from Ikea to create the rich palette. I strung fake lei’s together to create long strips of hanging flowers that flowed in the wind. We set up an altar table that contained all our offerings, a copy of the Bible and Bhagava Gita and several personal items that were meaningful to us.Our aisle runner was a bright orange raw silk straight from India and we used Sari’s as decor everywhere. The most precious part of the the ceremony decor for me was the ribbon wall that framed the freight elevator.

After all of our attendants danced in, that’s right they shimmied on down the aisle to “In your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, they created a soul train line that a crazy, dancing groom then grooved down. There were cat calls and bum taps and everything you’d want when you dance your solo!

Shortly after, I emerged from the freight elevator to the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World” version by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Beside the fact that it’s a beautiful song, I’m from Kansas so the Somewhere Over the Rainbow has a lot of meaning for me. In my gorgeous, eggshell Matthew Christopher mermaid gown with modern, urban detailing, and decked out with full Henna on my hands and arms, over-the-top orange Indian jewelry, bangles and a tikka hanging from my hair onto my forehead, I also danced my way down the aisle in my bright orange Gucci shoes!

I met my mom part of the way down and together we two-stepped to my groom. It was both uplifting and touching and was exactly who Ravi and I wanted to be at that moment.

A Purple Inspired Wedding, II

We are featuring the loveliest NYC real wedding today, where purple hues are threaded through every element. And in such a way that seems completely natural, unbelievably chic and forever timeless. Loving every bit of it.

A Purple Inspired Wedding

Okay, on to the absolutely gorgeous wedding that the color palette from today’s earlier post inspired. When I saw this wedding, I nearly fell out of my chair. It’s rare to see a single color be featured in such a way that every detail comes alive. Where every little touch seems to have been born straight off the desk of a style editor.

Jina and Andy were married in June with their reception on the Tribecca Rooftop in NYC. Here are a few details from the GORGEOUS bride…

I’m an art director/designer that loves orchids, anything purple, and polka dots so I incorporated that into our wedding theme. My husband, a born & bred New Yorker really wanted to get married in New York City, so we really felt that the loftspace of Tribeca Rooftop and the stunning views were perfect for us. Our wedding was very simply modern with personalized details.

More from Jina…I wore a very subtle swiss dot wedding dress (to fit into the theme) and the groomsmen wore black ties with little white dots. I designed everything from the invites to the coasters! I also designed personalized pins for all the guests with their place cards so they could wear them (if they chose to) and fit right into our theme. Our wedding was very simply modern with personalized details.

Defining Your Color Palette

Color. It’s something that we talk about all the time on SMP. Determining your color palette is one of the first steps in creating a wedding that is uniquely you…a palette that compliments your venue, that defines your look, that allows you to design a wedding that reflects your own style and personality.

When I saw this purple inspired affair, I just about fell out of my chair. This wedding is a lesson in color palettes. A perfect interpretation of what we believe is so important in defining your colors…layering. Varying shades of color so that there is a depth, a dimension to your style. So that your guests don’t see blocks of color, but rather a perfectly cohesive, seamless affair where effortless elegance takes center stage.

From Jenny…

My board is inspired by the vineyard location and the shabby chic theme the bride was looking for. I think this bouquet is a beautiful raspberry color and with the matching shoes, so elegant. I picture chandeliers hang from the trees, and the tables have different fabrics that pick up the raspberry colors with different vases, candles, etc in the center. I think variation in the tables will help for that “shabby chic” look. For some fun details, I was thinking a photobooth. They are popular now, guests love them, and you will have some great photos. I also like the element of incorporating silhouettes of the bride and groom – whether it be hanging them on a string at the reception and/or using them on the invitations. For favors, these raspberry boxes add a touch of elegance and you can include something that is important to you as a couple – a favorite dessert, something from your hometown, or something special for the two of you.

Real Wedding: Kaitlin and Will

Lyndsey Hamilton is one of those planners that you book the minute she has an opening. She just has this way about the events that she crafts…they seem incredibly personal, incredibly real and always, incredibly beautiful. And to be honest, those are the traits that I look for when featuring a wedding on Style Me Pretty. I don’t like to show weddings that are overly designed or manufactured. I love weddings where the couple, the bride, the beauty of the day can really shine through.

So when Lyndsey send us today’s featured wedding, which just happened to be photographed by Jake McBride of Christian Oth (love), I swooned…

From Lyndsey…

Kaitlin & Will had chosen East Hampton as their wedding location when they were living in Hong Kong. Kaitlin had spent summers in the Hamptons as a child, and her family owned a home directly across the street from Mulford Farm. Because there had never been a wedding held at Mulford Farm, which is maintained by the East Hampton Historical Society, Kaitlin knew that she needed to hire a planner to orchestrate the details and logistics–that was when she hired us! We began planning the wedding in January for the following September.

Bride Wars and Christian Oth

Just like a proud parent, I had to take a minute to brag on one of our Little Black Book members. Unless you have been hiding under a rock (or have given up TV as a New Year’s Resolution), you know that the Anne Hathaway/Kate Hudson movie, Bride Wars, is coming out today…with those fabulous Vera Wang dresses, the gorgeous wedding details and guess what…the photography of Christian Oth!

Yep, that’s right, Little Black Book member, Christian Oth was selected as the official wedding photographer for the film and some of my all time favorite photographs of his are making their big screen debut…

So congratulations Christian Oth…it’s an honor so well deserved! If you haven’t already, grab a cup of coffee and spend some time checking out Christian’s site. There are no words as to just how much inspiration can be found.

We are celebrating the launch of our new Little Black Book addition, the Destination Guide, with a few pictures from the spectacular featured wedding, shot by Christian Oth…

Any reception held near an infinity pool like this one, is one that goes down in the “absolutely gorgeous” books. Every element, from the insanely beautiful bride to the gorgeous bridesmaids, to the pretty flowers and simple decor…is stunning.

Although I am sure that a wedding this beautiful wasn’t very difficult to shoot, the photographs captured by Christian Oth are complete works of art. Pretty enough to hang on any wall, in any home.

Introducing…SMP’s Destination Wedding Guide!

We have been hard at work behind-the-scenes here at SMP building up our Little Black Book of Vendors, making sure that we are not only growing the cities that we represent, but that we are doing so thoughtfully, with each and every vendor representing Style Me Pretty’s guidelines for innovations and style.

And today, we are officially introducing the newest addition to our Little Black Book…Style Me Pretty’s Destination Wedding Guide! The companies in our guide are those who specialize in destination style weddings, which means that they will make the whole process of planning this type of wedding so much easier and more seamless…something that is hard to come by! Their work is the absolute best in the biz, so you can rest assured that you will be well cared for.

To kick off this fun new adventure, I wanted to showcase some of the weddings from our destination vendors. The first by the amazingly talented (and really, “amazingly talented” doesn’t do him justice at all) Christian Oth!

This is what I am talking about people! The photography is as good as it ever gets…it’s vivid, it’s full of life, it’s completely and totally spectacular. Stay tuned for more of this gorgeous wedding.
