From Details Details… Boram always imagined having an outdoor reception, but due to the risky month of March, going indoors was safest.  Most of their friends and family were coming from overseas from Korea, Hong Kong and the East Coast.  It ended up being the right decision, as it rained the morning of her wedding.

Boram and James were married at the Laguna Presbyterian Church, a place they fell in love with after it recently reopened after years of being closed for remodel.  They wanted to keep the authenticity of the church by not over embellishing the venue with floral so the focus would be on the sermon and the wedding itself.

After the ceremony they hosted a beautiful reception at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Keeping in line with an outdoor feel inside a ballroom with chandeliers, they enlisted talented Kate of Flowerwild to create lush, gardenlike wildloose floral arrangements.  The wedding floral consisted of gorgeous various style cabbage/quartered garden roses, ranunculas, hydrangea, lisianthus, jasmine vine, frittilaria, flowering pieris, dusty miller and lambs ear and even a few poppies. Crème, ivory, blush, champagne, peach and apricot tones throughout, along with a few buds and vines wild in footed mercury glass vessels.

Tammi and Kurt tied the knot in an airplane hangar in Orange County, CA. As an ode to Kurt’s love-affair with flying, the couple chose to surround themselves with classic airplanes and a vintage travel theme, complete with a postcard “guestbook” and luggage tags as favors and placecards. The most memorable moment, however, was Kurt and Tammi’s grand entrance! The happy couple exited from a private jet, which rolled down the runway of John Wayne Airport and right in to the airplane hangar where the reception took place. ~ Boutwell Studio

The whole wedding took place at Rancho Las Lomas, which is a very cool zoological garden and Spanish-style estate. The bride was Persian and the groom was Indian. They had a traditional Persian ceremony, with a gorgeous sofreh (wedding alter), followed by a more traditional Western ceremony. The reception featured a great mix of both Indian and Persian music.

Held at the FAB Montage Laguna Beach (and I mean FAB), there are so many little tidbits to obsess over here. The horse motif (which I love), the silver urns at varying heights (so insanely chic), the beautiful and modern palette, the draping, the black gloss flooring, the pendant lamps, the tulips resting on each place setting. This is ballroom done WAY right. Here are a few words from the team at R. Jack Balthazar…

The ballroom at the beautiful Montage Resort is transformed into a warm and inviting setting for this chic wedding… cozy banquette sofas are used as seating at some tables, while others are set with upholstered slipper chairs… Daybed lounges are set in the corners of the room… differently shaped tables are all dressed in different luxe linens and tables abound with inspired containers overflowing with flowers in a palette of white and sunset orange and collected objets d’art.

Oh my gosh! How precious are these?

So when you have killer invitations … killer shoes … a killer dress … hmmmm …you’ve got one fabulous wedding …

Chenin at Boutwell Studio shared Lindsey and Chris’ wedding with us, not just because she knew you’d love it … but also because Lindsey is a faithful SMP bride and she found Boutwell Studio in our Little Black Book.

If the invitations weren’t pretty enough, what about the vintage mailbox?

Five years after meeting at a Halloween party, Chris asked me to marry him. He proposed in the snow at Lake Tahoe. As soon as I got home, I started planning the wedding. I knew I really wanted to have fireworks, but also wanted to get married in San Francisco, which was a little bit of a problem, until I noticed that the 4th of July, 2009 fell on a Saturday. Problem solved. Once I figured that out, everything else fell into place. We chose the Fairmont atop Nob Hill because it has a large reception area at the tip top of the hotel that has panoramic views and we would be able to see all the fireworks. It’s a beautiful and historic hotel. It lent itself to the overall look and feel of the wedding, which was “vintage charm”.

The wedding was beautiful. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and the fog didn’t even roll in (a rare thing in SF!). The entire day from start to finish could not have gone better.

I really had the best vendors in the world. The “A Team” I would call them. I actually found our photographer, Chenin, in the Little Black Book of vendors on SMP. Prior to the big day, we had a little bump in the road and had to switch photographers from our first one we hired. It all worked out and I could not be happier with our photos. Chenin was amazing to work with. She is so easy going and made it fun, and our pictures are killer. Our planner, Alice, helped to make the whole process-from start to finish-the best experience. I don’t know what I would have done without her. She made sure everything was perfect, and it was. Nancy did a wonderful job on the flowers, they were stunning. She went above and beyond to make my floral dreams come true, including surprising me with a second bouquet option of Peonies, which were out of season, but she tracked some down for me.

My favorite little items from the Big Day were:

Sign in Mail Box: I bought a vintage mail box (from a lady off ebay) and used vintage looking SF postcards for the sign in book. I had our guests “send” us their best wishes and memories.

Table Numbers: I saw some table numbers from a wedding (on SMP of course!) where they had scalloped cut table numbers and thought they were the cutest thing. I searched high and low for scalloped cards or a large enough punch cutter to do the job, but couldn’t find one. So I ended up buying a heavy duty die cutter and die cut each one. I know it may seem a bit silly for just some little scalloped table numbers, but I just fell in love with the idea. In the end I’m sure not many people really noticed them, but I just thought they looked so charming.

Invites and paper items: The vintage handkerchief invitations were a big hit (from Bird and Banner). Each guest received a different and unique vintage handkerchief. The other paper items (programs, menus, and candy bags) were designed by a friend of mine, who works in graphic design, and me. I loved the stripes.

Photo Booth with vintage props: are you sensing a theme here? but it was really cute. I bought a bunch of these vintage hats off ebay and a few little moustaches on sticks from etsy and everyone got really into it. The photos turned out really cute.

I thought I would be nervous or anxious, or even sad that it was going to be over, but I had a calm sense the whole day. I was just really really happy. It was a perfect day.

There is just something so sweet about this affair. The pure joy that seems to be radiating from the photographs, the romantic style, the classic but fabulously chic details. It’s really, really easy to love. Oh and that last picture is definitely going into my all time favorites file, as it is total perfection.  A stunning couple, a dress that will make you cry, balloons, confetti…um, hello.

Thank you SO very much to the hugely talented Chenin Boutwell for sharing this incredible wedding with us. And to the beautiful Kim and Mel…a big congratulations on you even bigger day!

The perfect balloons, the flowers that are as lovely as they are chic, and the dress…oh a dress. Have you ever seen anything quite so pretty? With ruffles that are complete perfection, I seriously could wear this dress every day of my life.
