The Festive Meal or Seudah

It is considered a mitzvah (the fulfillment of a divine commandment) for guests to bring simcha (joy) to the bride and groom on their wedding day.

There is much music and dancing as the guests celebrate with the new couple; some guests entertain with feats of juggling and acrobatics.

Although the wedding feast is, in itself, a mitzvah, the emphasis is on entertaining the newlyweds. By dancing around the bride and groom, the community expresses its support for the couple.

As a part of the Jewish people, the newlyweds never need fear facing life alone.

We have only touched upon a few of the traditions of the Jewish wedding. We truly thank Eleana and Avi & Kitty and Craig for allowing us a glimpse into this very special day. The LOVELY flowers for this wedding were designed by Little Black Book vendor, Margaret Bost ~ floral design of Santa Fe. Event planning was by Heidi Anderson of Santa Fe Soiree. And again, the amazing wedding venue was the Allen Houser Compound.
