Hilton Head Island Wedding at Palmetto Dunes

If you ask me, a family style dinner under the stars is about as perfect as you can get. Perfection that started with seaside nuptials complete with toes in the sand and moved on to a beach reception with vivid pops  of color all planned by Embellished Events and captured by Ashley Seawell Photography. Have a look here for even more from these destination “I Do’s”.

From Jennifer Leiti with Embellished Events… Lyndie and Jon are a fun-loving and laid back couple from Oregon. They decided to get married on Hilton Head Island because it was the perfect destination location for their families to meet and celebrate their special day. Lyndie and Jon wanted to embrace the coastal culture of Hilton Head and were set on having their feet in the sand when they said their I dos. As luck would have it, the weather was spectacular for their outdoor soiree. From the ceremony to the last dance, every moment of their wedding day was spent outdoors taking in the summer sun. Their colors were tropical – shades of coral and pink with gold metallic accents. Lyndie and Jon loved the idea of having their guests seated for a family style dinner under the stars. Their wedding day was absolutely perfect – just like their love for each other. Congratulations Lyndie and Jon!

Gold + Blush Hilton Head Island Wedding

Oh, beautiful Hilton Head Island affair.  I’ve been yearning for a beach vaca in a bad way and you just couldn’t have come at a better time.  The lush pink florals from Flowers By Sue, the gold DIY details styled by the stunning bride and the overwhelming sense of joy captured by Dana Cubbage Weddings… it’s magical.  See it all right here.

From Dana Cubbage Weddings… Lindsay, Thomas and their families traveled from Lexington, Kentucky to get married at Hilton Head Island in late October. It was an amazing wedding, full of the couples’ personality, thanks to the carefully thought out DIY details put together by Lindsay. From the gold horse cocktail stirrers (a nod to their hometown of Lexington) to the glitter table runners to the gold giraffes that adorned their wedding cake – an inside joke between Lindsay and Thomas – everything was beautiful and full of sparkle, just like Lindsay herself!  And her dress… oh that dress! It was by far one of the most unique and beautiful gowns I’ve ever seen. Lindsay’s Wtoo by Watters gown was the PERFECT dress for her and their beachfront wedding. I was simply blown away and had a blast photographing it!

Lindsay and Thomas opted to do a First Look, which was amazing, and gave us ample time for photos before their sunset ceremony. Officiated by Lindsay’s childhood pastor, it was a truly touching and personal ceremony. The night was capped off by a selection of delicious lowcountry fare provided by Downtown Catering and everyone danced the night away under the stars next to the pool. It was an absolutely beautiful, fabulous wedding and Lindsay did such an amazing job of putting it all together herself.

Mansion

From the stunning bride… Our wedding was inspired by the scenery and culture of the South Carolina Lowcountry. My family has been vacationing in Hilton Head Island for years, and it quickly became a special place for Dan and I as a couple. For many of our guests, it was their first time visiting the area, so we wanted to be sure everyone had an opportunity to experience a quintessential southern wedding. Each detail we chose, from the food to the flowers, was a nod to the local area. My favorite part of the planning process was ensuring that our theme was carried through to every element, and that the whole look and feel of the wedding was cohesive.

With the gorgeous mansion as a backdrop, we wanted to keep decorations to a minimum. The colors in the wedding party attire and flowers corresponded wonderfully to the groves of live oaks that surround the property. We used a sketch of one of the property’s live oak trees on our invitation’s RSVP card, and I repeated the design on our place cards, which were my proudest DIY achievement. We designed the tent with open sides and twinkle lights so the guests felt as if they were dining and dancing under the stars. I think this—coupled with the fact that everyone was on vacation—really contributed to the celebratory mood, and the dance floor was packed all night long.

For me, the highlight of the evening (apart from marrying my best friend, of course) was when my father-in-law serenaded us with James Taylor’s “Carolina in my Mind.” This moment, singing along with our closest family and friends, is a memory I will cherish forever. The excitement and love was palpable and it epitomized the laid-back, relaxing wedding I had dreamed about.”
