When you’ve been around the world together, sometimes its nice to flock back to the nest. Which is why this West Coast duo decided to host their nuptials in Groom’s hometown of Charleston. They made sure to include food fare and music from Atlanta Party Band to incorporate the bride’s family’s Peruvian roots, and the results? All out lovely. VISIO Photography captured the event right here.
From VISIO Photography… From Natalie’s bias cut Italian silk gown to Taylor’s perfectly tailored tux, the couples sense of style ruled. Clean lined urban whites, blacks and greys, combined with traditional romantic florals such as roses, dusty miller and clouds of babys breath in classic silver mercury glass compote bowls or tall pilsner vases with hanging votives. A variety of crystal chandeliers hung from the clear top tent. Their ceremony and reception choice: Lowndes Grove Plantation, one of Patrick Properties nostalgic venues, which sits along Charlestons Ashley River.
Natalie and her family originate from Columbia, South America (not to be confused with the SC state capital!), and though Taylor was raised in the lowcountry of Hilton Head, his family is New York through and through! The couple had been living in Manhattan, but moved to San Francisco a week before the wedding.
Combining both family traditions and lifestyles, an edgy contemporary violinist, Seth G, accompanied the ceremony and cocktail hour. The party continued with a perfect mix from Atlanta Party Band and one segment of Latin dance music Natalie had pre-recording especially for her South American guests.
The couples personalities came out in the dining selections. Both are “foodies” and wanted tried and true dishes such as beef filet and seared grouper, but weren’t afraid of local favorites of pork belly sliders. In lieu of a wedding cake, after dinner, as orange and red sunset skies turned to blue and purple lite trees, a combination of North and South American dessert favorites were presented: Tres Leches, Fried Donut Holes and assorted mini cupcakes.
Their 130 guests started the day with a short Charleston City bus tour “spiked “ with a mini bottle trivia give away and ended the evening with a sparkler send off and favors of Benne Waffers in little black boxes.
