I'm beginning to see this more and more often these days. Brides are opting for small, intimate wedding ceremonies with just a handful of people, and then throwing a big ol' bash shortly thereafter to celebrate with the world. It's a fabulous way to keep things personal, stay on budget and still enjoy this huge milestone surrounded by everyone you love. "At Home"
I'm thinking that all Fridays from here on out should simply be coined as "cocktail Fridays" because, well, why the heck not?! To kick off my personal favourite series to date, our dearest Melissa has come up with this mouth-watering recipe for champagne grapefruit mojitos. Yep. I'm pretty sure all that needs to be said at this point is cheers...
Alright, can we just take a moment to soak in this adorable bachelorette pad? Alaina's home is absolutely picturesque and it's taking all my might not to pack my bags and beg to move right in. We recently had the chance to catch up with one half of the talented duo behind the popular The Everygirl, and I have no doubt you'll eat up all of Alaina's fabulous advice below.
I'm kind of obsessed with this next DIY as it falls under both the "I must do this!" and "why didn't I think of that?!" categories. You know the ones I'm referring to. The projects you could actually sit down with a group of friends and tackle as a team on a Sunday afternoon? These gorgeous watercolour placemats are the type that don't take a ton of skill, but result in a completely custom, totally useable product that's entirely your own. Linen fabric (you will need 2 layers of 14.5"x19.
Though it's usually the room in which we spend the majority of our life, funnily enough, ones bedroom is more often than not a complete afterthought when it comes to interior design (mine is definitely no exception!) And if Alexandra's gorgeous bedroom is any indication of how great it really could (and should!) be, then I think we all need to take a stand. From here on out, no more bedroom neglection! It's time we take a cue from this...
And we are up to our ears in the cutest, most fabulous, squeal inducing Neon Celebration...with old school paper link backdrops and bright blue martini's for days. And if ever there was a party that justified inviting your friends over for no reason at all, this one would be it. So kick back, grab something fruity and feast your eyes on all of the goodness. Fair warning, you might need a pair of shades too.
I know that it's sort of killing you guys that we have yet to unveil the full Neon party but I just had to pay homage to all of the cuteness in the DIY projects that served as our foundation. Particularly, this ridiculously cute cake that even a novice baker could tackle with confidence. It's pink, it's sparkly and it has a little nod to the 80's which I sort of love. Boxed White Cake (or make your own with...
So we can't really take credit for this next little number. We originally spotted it over on Idle Wife and fell so in love with it that we sort of just stole it and plopped it right into our neon celebration, putting our own little striped spin on some of them. And if you're anything like us, you're going to do the exact same thing... Marshmallows (extra large) Paint Brush 4-5 Small...
Next up in the building blocks for our aaaaadorable Neon Party Theme is this oh-so-simple lucite tray. I am a HUGE fan of the lucite tray. A few trays are a great investment for your party pantry because you can always gussy them up with a bit of paint or a paper insert and transform the end result. For this tray, we used a simple tape pattern to create a fun, modern Neon design. newspaper painter's tape lucite tray (found here) spray paint (we used rustoleum fluorescent in yellow)...
Okay, the first DIY (actually all of the DIY's) for today's celebration is about as easy as boiling water. We love a good DIY but we aren't huge fans of overly complicated, glue gun burn inducing projects. So today, we're keeping these short and sweet. Bottom line? With a little tape and a little spray paint, we turned these simple Martini glasses into something cocktail dreams are made of... 12" strip...
