From Meg Brock…. From our first meeting, I knew Justin and Paula’s day was going to be unique, fun, and memorable. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Welkinweir Estate, a 197 acre property with a 55-acre arboretum and historic estate house. The predicted rain held off long enough for everyone to enjoy an outdoor ceremony in front of the estate house and outdoor cocktail hour that included many types of beer brewed by the groom. At the reception, guests enjoyed a cozy, family style meal while being treated to the country swing/roots jazz/street blues music of the Bumper Jacksons. It was an incredible day filled with lots of love!
From the Bride… Our wedding was inspired by our love of cooking, old-timey music, fall, and a hint of science fiction. We love the rich colors of fall, but we decided to use their lighter form for the wedding so that our colors would not outshine the natural backdrop of the venue. We used colanders and spice jars as centerpieces for the tables to speak to our mutual foodie interests. The meal was served family style so that attendees could easily make small talk with each other and the menu featured fresh, seasonal foods. The bride’s midwestern heritage was highlighted by a Garrison Keillor reading and the groom’s family was spotlighted through the ninebeers he made for the event, especially the “Viditus Ale” which contained his grandfather’s home made spirits.
