There are the pretty weddings and then there are the real, pretty weddings. I’m not talking extra pretty (though this one is especially gorgeous) I’m talking real. Real, feel the love, laugh the laughs, grab the tissues thanks to Peach Plum Pear Photography’s captures, real. The kind of wedding that puts a permagrin on your face for the rest of the day.
From the photographer… We are so excited to share Julia and Aaron’s amazing wedding! Our day started at Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, where Julia and her “ladies of honor” were getting ready (and having fun!) After that we took a cab to FDR Park in South Philadelphia (we loved that Julia was singing along to the radio in the cab!) to walk around and take some photos of Julia and Aaron and their bridal party. FDR Park is a great location for photos, and we were especially excited about shooting at the FDR Skatepark that is under I-95. Julia and Aaron had their ceremony at the American Swedish Historical Museum, followed by cocktail hour and reception outside of the museum. Delicious food, great music, good vibes and lots of dancing made for a very special celebration. After the reception was over, Julia and Aaron and their friends went for an EPIC subway ride to get to their after party. It was an incredible ending to their celebration with playing guitars, singing and dancing on the Broad Street subway. Congratulations Julia and Aaron! And thanks for being awesome.
From the lovely couple… When you break it down, it’s simple. We wanted a meaningful yet non-traditional ceremony and an evening of celebration, eating, and dancing with all of our dearest. Okay… so maybe not so simple. But we (read: mostly Julia) had envisioned a few details from the get-go: a bountiful summer buffet complete with a whole roast pig and strawberry rhubarb pie, decorations of spring peonies and garden globe lights, and musical performances by our talented friends and family. There was definitely a homemade, quirky, and intimate feel to the day that felt very “us”, and we cannot express the gratitude we have for our family and friends who contributed in some way to the festivities, from singing to sewing to shlepping. Mother Nature was kind, and we had a perfect night in South Philly. And the Broad Street subway ride back to Center City was one for the ages.”
