California Anniversary Session from Bryce Covey Photography

For anyone that knows Amy and Erich McVey, you know that their love shines bright. So bright, that it might be impossible to portray that love on film. Unless you’re Bryce Covey of course. He took this shiny, happy couple and captured an anniversary session as beautiful and breezy as the beach they’re frolicking on. These are the moments to cherish. Long after the walk down the aisle, when it’s just you and your love and a breathtaking view. It doesn’t get any better than that. See even more right here in the full gallery.

Woodstock, Vermont Wedding from Lauren Wells Events + Our Labor of Love

So by now you’ve probably fallen in love with these Woodstock sweeties, but let me assure you, the best is yet to come. Set at the coziest inn tucked away in Vermont,  this wedding is everything I dream about when it comes to autumn in New England. And from their welcome bags filled with local faves, to the ceremony recessional to “Call Me Maybe,” this bride and groom made sure their day was filled with extra fun touches all along the way. Our Labor of LoveLauren Wells Events, and The Painted Tulip pulled together to make it all possible, and I’m sure you’ll agree this wedding deserves a nice, long looksy in the full gallery right here.

From the Bride…Nantucket and Vermont are our two favorite places, so when Matt proposed in Nantucket, we knew we would get married in Vermont! Fall being our favorite season, we planned an October celebration at the Woodstock Inn. All of our guests either stayed at the Inn or at other local B&Bs down Main Street, and it was amazing to take over the little town for a weekend and have everything in walking distance. Even the after party was right across the street!

Matt and I met in college, and we had been together for almost 6 years when we married. We wanted our day to represent us as a couple, and to be all about the love we share for one another, our friends, and our family. (And an epic dance party, of course!) We incorporated personal touches throughout the weekend: welcome bags were filled with our favorite (and meaningful) local treats; we served popovers with apple butter from Judie’s in Amherst (where we shared our first date); our first dance was to Songbird, sung by our family member, Ashley; during the ceremony, we had our parents stand and join us so we could say a “thank you” to the four people who taught us what marriage really means; Scrabble tiles spelled out certain words, reminiscent of the night we got engaged; books and maps scattered throughout showed our shared love of reading and travel… we even had our recessional to a string version of “Call Me Maybe,” an ode to when I never called Matt back in college, too scared to pick up the phone and talk to the boy I had a crush on!

We also share a love of crafting, and most of what you see was handmade by us (and our wonderful families) in our “wedding workshop.” We spent the year poking through antique shops, hunting for fallen birch trees, hand cutting confetti and creating everything we could dream of. We knew we wanted the decor to complement the Inn, not compete with it, so we tried to stick with a rustic, elegant vibe. My mom drew and designed our two logos, and those showed up throughout the day as well. All of the memories we made getting ready for the big day made the actual day all the more special. In the end, it truly was the best day ever. We would not have changed one thing!

Vermont Rehearsal Dinner from Lauren Wells Events + Our Labor of Love

The night before my wedding, I was a crazy ball of nerves. So swept up in the excitement of day to come, the only thing that eased those bride-to-be jitters was being surrounded by all my nearest and dearest. Sharing stories and laughs across the table at a rehearsal dinner just like this one. And in the realm of pre-wedding parties, this Vermont affair planned by Lauren Wells Events pretty much rocks. With the look and feel of a casual BBQ, it seems like the best way to spend an evening before the big “I do.” Feel free to browse the full gallery of goodness from Our Labor of Love, and stay tuned for the gorgeous wedding day coming up next!

From the Bride…We had an intimate rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding with our family and wedding parties. Wanting it to be laid back and casual, we went for a BBQ theme. Following dinner. we had planned on having all of our guests join us for s’mores and cider at a welcome campfire. When the weather didn’t agree and we had to move the party inside, our amazing photographers set up the Smilebooth one night early. Having the opportunity to welcome everyone to Woodstock and having the time to truly talk to everyone that night allowed us to let loose and hit the dance floor during the reception. If possible, we highly recommend it! Knowing our flowers for the wedding were soft and romantic, all whites and creams, we wanted the rehearsal dinner to be as bright and fun as possible. We scrounged through antique stores in 5 different states looking for unique food-related tins, and whenever we found a Vermont syrup vintage can I would literally shout with glee. The beautiful floral hair garland was created by the Little Flower Shoppe, and the “survival kit” groomsmen kits were crafted by Matt, who handmade the boxes with white cedar.
