A Foodie’s Dream Wedding in Prague

When the Bride and the Groom met working in the food industry, you know the reception dinner is going to be phenomenal! From the signature cocktail – a rose-colored citrus aperitif topped with edible flowers – to the late-night snacks of schnitzels and goulash inspired by the couple’s Eastern European heritage, the menu of this wedding planned by Exclusive Weddings in Prague was a food lover’s dream. To top it all off, Punk Rock Cakes baked a gorgeous peach-marbled creation in a delicious carrot flavor. See it all in the drool-worthy gallery captured by Stepan Vrazala Photographer and the film by Primetime Video.

Whimsical

From the Bride… He popped the question while we were traveling in Europe visiting our families. Although we reside in Southern California, my husband lived in Germany until he was 14, and my parents immigrated to the U. S. from Slovakia, so we are both of Eastern-European heritage. We had visited Prague just a few days prior to our engagement and walked through St. Wenceslas vineyard, admiring the cobblestone path down from the castle through the vineyard – the same setting we would eventually be married in. With travel being a love of ours, our family sprinkled around Europe, and Prague being one of the most beautiful cities, a destination wedding was meant to be.

We had decided the top three most important things we wanted to focus on during the planning process were: family, food, and floral decor. Family from near and far traveled around the globe via planes, trains, and automobiles to one of the most romantic cities in the world. Our goal was to choose a venue that could show off Prague’s beauty in all its glory, and that’s exactly what we got when we chose Villa Richter. Guests marveled at the sweeping views of spires, domes, the Vltava river, and St. Wenceslas vineyard while watching us exchange vows. It felt like a fairytale.

Both of us are passionate about food – it’s essentially what brought my husband and me together. He is a professional chef, and we met while working in a catering kitchen. Little did we know after countless hours of catering many weddings, six years later we would be reveling in our own. We approached our wedding menu planning as if we were planning an indulgent feast for ourselves with all of our favorite foods and flavors we wanted to share with our guests. Signature cocktails included a rose-colored, citrus aperitif topped with edible flowers and a zesty whiskey and ginger concoction. Cheese and charcuterie are a must in our book, so a French cheese bar and a whole leg of Jamón was an easy pick for accompanying hors d’oeuvres. Lobster-cognac soup, house-made smoked salmon, foie gras with brioche… We were in food heaven. Desert was a spread of many classic Czech pastries, chocolate mousse cups, tiramisu, and our gorgeous peach-marbled wedding cake in a carrot flavor. A late-night snack was one that reminded us of our family roots – schnitzels and goulash. The cognac and cigar bar on the terrace overlooking the city lights rounded out the evening.

I wanted the wedding design to be elegant enough for the romantic setting, but also fresh and modern. Frezia Fleur tapped into my head and made my vision a reality. Greenery garlands weaved into free-form florals of vibrant hues: orange, coral, and peach. Geometric vases, gold accents, watercolor stationery, and candles tied the dreamy setting together. The swoon-worthy set-up of the desert bar still makes me beam. A geometric “love conquers all” sign suspended onto a natural greenery backdrop, while gold-glass shelving was filled to the brim with candles.

The entire day was a dream. My husband and I talk about how we wish we could relive it repeatedly. It was our best day ever, and we have all of our lovely vendors to thank. We could not have planned this dream destination wedding half-way across the world if not for our amazing wedding coordinator, Andrea of Exclusive Weddings in Prague.

Kansas City Wedding Full of Glamour

One minute and seven seconds in—that love, is exactly why I log on to Style Me Pretty with a smile on my face every day. Today, we’ve got Creative Films to thank for delivering that love in the form of this moving film and Leigh Miller, for the stunning imagery. When you’re tearing up over the sweet video, head to the full gallery for even more!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/227804402 600 338]

From Creative FilmsWe got to know Sarah and Mike a few weeks before their wedding when we shot a sweet little Love Story interview for them to share with their guests on their wedding day. I immediately fell in love with both of them (and their puppydogs). Flash forward to the wedding day and it couldn’t have been more perfect. They had the most amazing team of creative Kansas City wedding professionals and their day was one of the prettiest we have had the honor to be part of this season. Even more special was to see how much they enjoyed watching their family and friends enjoy the day and the sweet looks they stole to each other all night long.

From the Bride… Both Mike and myself could not have been more happy on our wedding day. From day one, we had a vision for the theme, feel, and overall flow of our wedding ceremony and reception for not only ourselves, but more importantly, for all of our loved ones to share in. Our fantastic vendors were able to take exactly what we wanted and bring it to life more perfectly that we could have imagined. From the moment we both awoke the morning of our wedding, there was such a sense of peace and calm that overcame us both and that feeling lasted through the entire day and evening. There was nowhere else on earth we could have imagined being, and one moment that I myself will never forget was when myself and Mike were able to discreetly sneak a peek upon all of our guests, from a balcony vantage point, at our pre ceremony wine and bourbon tasting cocktail hour. What we saw brought tears to our eyes; beautiful music by The Blackbird Revue engulfing the stunning Tudor Room of the Brass on Baltimore…our guests loudly laughing and conversing with such great enthusiasm and cheer. Hand in hand we looked in each other’s eyes and it was further confirmed to us that making the choice to marry one another was the absolute best decision either of us would make in this lifetime!

We Want To See You Recreate This Wedding

This is the kind of soiree that I just know I’ll be seeing ALL over Pinterest for years to come. The kind of wedding I want to see one of you re-create. I don’t mean detail for detail—I mean, the balance of beauty it boasts. From start to finish, getting ready to last dance, it is seamless. Captured by Jenna McElroy, I’m betting each and every one of you can find at least one detail that sparks your wedding-loving heart. Ready, set, GO!

From Jenna McElroyKathleen and Bart, both New Yorkers, decided to celebrate their beautiful spring wedding in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. This city couple opted to have a chic, sophisticated outdoor affair at The Vineyard at Chappel Lodge. Family and friends traveled far and wide to partake in this sweet southern wedding. The bridesmaids were floor length grey dresses that were complimented by bouquet’s of Austin’s neutral color palette. The couple’s first look was in the middle of a wildflower field surrounded by nothing but space and sky. These two added some Northeastern flair by adding incredible seafood by Pink Avocado for cocktail hour, while a live jazz band played in the background. Dinner and dancing followed under the stars, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Kathleen and Bart’s wedding was a beautiful celebration that took place under the unrivaled beautiful Texas sky.

Step Into A Shoot That’ll Have You Dreaming of Paris For Days…

The morning light is magical in Paris on its own but add in a seriously stunning bride-to-be and a gown by Claire Pettibone and this, my dears, is what dreams are made of. Jacqui Cole captured the stylish scenes that are stealing our hearts, and these pics are bound to be filling up our Pinterest boards in 3, 2, 1…

From Jacqui Cole… In the morning, as the sun is rising and before the masses have woken, the streets of Paris are untouched and so serene. The aim of this editorial is to visualize what is would be like for a couple eloping in this magical city. The inspiration for this elegant Parisian shoot is centered around the whimsical Claire Pettibone gown. The sheer fabric looked breathtaking in the morning light of Paris. The soft, lush florals added a true feminine touch. A delicate hint of purple added depth to the neutral hues while also giving a subtle nod to the French locale. Hair and makeup for the bride centered on her natural beauty – a glowy, natural palette was used for the makeup and her hair was left relaxed and down to effortlessly blow in the morning breeze. Joy Proctor’s stunning Bella Belle shoes were the perfect finishing touch!

Something Old, New, Borrowed + Oh So Beautifully Blue!

Bring on the blues! From the various hues for the bridesmaids to the tablescapes and florals, this Kentucky wedding is brimming with beautiful blues and I’m downright smitten. Rachael McCall captured them all and I’m bookmarking this beauty to come back whenever I need my Southern wedding fix (which, let’s be real, is quite often). Fall head over heels for all the delightful details and magical moments right this way!

Colors

From Rachael McCall… Bethy and Carl were one of the most genuine and calm spirited couples I have ever photographed. Their wedding day was planned so perfectly that when you arrived at the venue, you just knew it was going to be a great wedding. Bethy is a triplet. I state that because she and her two sisters are all so different. I thought it was an interesting correlation at this wedding because there were three different areas of the day that were so widely different. She started at the castle to get ready, they moved to the lush gardens for the ceremony, and finished the night off under a modern wood fixture to party the night away. That is one thing I loved about this venue, that there were such different ambiances throughout the day. The amazing florals and designers did a great job tying up the three locations with tints of blue and calming creams to carry you through the wedding. From the insanely gorgeous train on her wedding dress to the choreographed dance between the bride and groom, these two had a great mix of elegance and fun. The night ended when the red jeweled limo from 21c Hotel picked them up to sweep them away!

Crafting a Glamorous Master Retreat for a Twin Mama-to-Be

Cue the blush + gold details and gobs of peonies because this master bedroom makeover captured by Lindsay Salazar has all the fixins for a fashion lovers paradise. It’s serene and cozy yet filled with the essentials for a dreamy nights sleep. And sleep is of utmost importance when you are expecting twins like blogger Emily Jackson of Ivory Lane. I speak from experience. She worked with Alice Lane Home to create a space perfect for everything from art books to killer heels and all the glamorous lounging in between.

I started dreaming up this space with Alice Lane what seems like forever ago! It has been a process we’ve been working on for quite a while and I’m so obsessed with the final product! I’ve said before that I’m a homebody and LOVE to be at home with my family. With this pregnancy with the twins I’ve been more exhausted and tired than ever, so I’m happy to admit that I’ve spent plenty of time in my master the past several months and am still so in love with everything about the space! Some of my favorite pieces of the room are of course the bed (plus the accent pillows and bedding), the curtains (by Q Design, also here), and the gorgeous chandelier!

1 Year Later, This Blogger Bride Shares the Best Marriage Advice

We’ve officially been married for a year on September 18th! It’s fitting to share on SMP some things we’ve learned over the past year because this is where our wedding day was first shared as well. Since our big day, we have honeymooned in Maui, celebrated Christmas in Michigan with my husband’s family and in California with mine, visited Chicago for my birthday, gone on many beach trips, laughed and cried together, went on a family vacation to Dallas, and most recently, got a PUPPY! His name is Lincoln, and we absolutely adore him. I work from home, so I needed a buddy. And although this buddy of mine is certainly in the teething puppy stage, I love him oh-so-much. I’m so grateful to have these first anniversary photos by Danyelle Dee Photography to look back on as a reminder of this fun season. I hope you enjoy a few things I’ve learned over the past year (and my, how time flies!)…

Marriage is FUN! There’s just no other way to say it. When you live and spend most of your time with your best friend, you’re bound to have fun. That doesn’t mean it will be easy or perfect all the time, though!

Companionship is such a joy. The moment my husband walks in the door from work is the best part of my day. I work from home, so I’m alone a lot. When he gets home, I finally have him to talk to and snuggle with. We have each other around all the time. No more saying bye to him at night when he went to his separate house before we were married. I always have someone to share my feelings, struggles, and joys with. He shares his with me. Being married to him feels so safe. I’m so grateful.

We are selfish. This is being revealed to me on a larger level than even when we were dating, because when we were at the altar on our wedding day, I vowed to put McCann before myself. I promised to serve him and love him sacrificially. So often I’m thinking of myself first, so I am trying to catch those habits and remember my vows. We are married, we are a unit. Our selfish nature and wants can keep us from that sweet covenant relationship, so asking God to help us put each other first is a big thing we are learning.

Sleeping with someone else in your bed is HARD to get used to. Especially when said someone is always hot and snores a little bit. Sorry, husband. ;) When we move out of our apartment, a king bed is surely in our future!

Marriage means time, effort, and communication. We have learned that work needs to go into our relationship. Just because we’re married doesn’t mean it’s smooth sailing and we automatically know each other perfectly. We’ve learned not to overlook little things that need to be discussed. A major thing I have learned is that we need to over-communicate. We both want to feel included in each other’s days even when we’re working separately. We need to tell each other how we can best serve one another that day, we need to remember to tell each other if we have appointments or are hanging out with friends ahead of time (ahem, this one goes out to my husband!), and we need to make TIME for one another to really invest in our relationship. Time is key. If you’re saying “yes” to too many other things which pull you away from your spouse more than not, then you probably need to cut out some quality time for the two of you! It’s easy, especially after a long day, to want to sit on the couch and watch a show (we adored This Is Us and also love Designated Survivor), but if we aren’t careful, that can become the norm. What grows from a relationship of two people watching TV together all the time?! Not much, if it becomes a lazy habit. So we are remembering to put time and effort into our marriage. Spontaneous trips to the grocery store late at night, buying tickets for a concert five minutes before it starts and enjoying one of our favorite bands, reading together, going to the apple orchard, or going out to eat and sharing our hearts. This is where the good stuff happens.

Everyone lives differently! Since we didn’t live together before we were married, we’re still learning about our living styles. Thankfully he is super clean, just like me, so we don’t have many issues there. There are certain things that make us laugh about each other. For example, he runs his toothbrush under water BEFORE he puts the toothpaste on. I’ve always put the toothpaste on, THEN run it under water before brushing. Insignificant and yet so fun to catch those things.

I could go on and on, but I will leave you with this one last thing:

Grace. We opted for a first look (highly recommend!) on our wedding. When McCann turned around to see me, his bride, on our wedding day, he looked at me, my flaws and all, and was in awe. He saw me as beautiful, no matter my imperfections. I’ll never forget that moment. It always reminds me of the grace my husband extends to me, and how I should do the same for him.

This Couple Built Their Insanely Gorgeous Venue From the Ground Up

In the ultimate (and impressive) show of DIY, this couple decided to build their own venue and just wait until you see the result. A breathtaking open air chapel overlooking the lake is only the beginning of this elegant Southern affair at The Grand Ivory. With planning by Each and Every Detail, the prettiest of greenery and blooms by Petals Couture, and stunning images by Tenth & Grace, see how these childhood sweethearts turned their dream into a reality just in time for their Big Day.

From Tenth & Grace… Ashley and Parker have the most amazing love story, and it was such an honor being a part of their big day! It was made even more special because their wedding was the first at The Grand Ivory – the wedding venue that they built together. They really poured their hearts into this property and it shows! Every detail was thought out so carefully, including the adorable cottages and the white open-air chapel. It was so special to be a part of Ashley and Parker’s wedding, as well as the first wedding at The Grand Ivory!

From the bride… I had always told Parker one day, later in life that I would love to have a wedding venue. I find something so magical about catching everyone at their best day and seeing love unite into marriage. Parker was in law school at the time when this dream was established. Of course with Parker – the man who believes in all my dreams and visions – he began talking about the possibility of making it happen sooner rather than later. Parker graduated from law school and has put all of his efforts into the venue ever since. The process for the venue took a few years! It all began with a sketchbook and a pencil – I drew and filled every page in the book with design ideas. Our goal for the venue was creating a space that has southern elegance with a modern charm. We started with the thought of only a barn and chapel, then decided that adding bridal and groom cottages would complete the venue. The biggest challenge of planning was finding the right property. From the start, we always said we would begin construction only when we found the perfect property that matched our vision. We call it fate, but we found our 18 acres after an attempt to view a nearby property failed. We were headed home feeling unhopeful about our search after viewing 15 properties that day. That is when we passed a large sign with hand drawn red letters that said “for sale”. We hopped the fence and walked onto the land and within seconds we had everything mapped out. It couldn’t have been a better fit for our vision, and we just knew it was the perfect spot for our dream. I had a specific vision for my wedding from the start. I wanted it to have the sense of summer paired with timeless details. I adore greenery so I incorporated it throughout my ceremony and reception. Also, my wedding dress was inspired by my vision for The Grand Ivory and all its beauty. I picked out my dress in one hour at my very first appointment. My favorite part of our wedding day was marrying the love of my life. I had not one ounce of nervousness and experienced only pure joy. From the moment I met Parker, I knew he would be my husband and this day put it all into place. Of course, celebrating our marriage at the venue we built from the ground up with our family and friends just made it that much more special.

The Most Magical Engagement Session in the South of France

What do you get when you combine the magic of the South of France with the most adorably in love couple and the talents of Jessica Rose Photography? The most magical engagement session ever! Head to The Vault for a virtual getaway to France where you’re sure to fall in love with these two cuties and their adorable love story!

From Jessica Rose PhotographyWe met in Vancouver, Lyndsay, a local vintage clothing shop owner, and Bret, a sports professional, and I already couldn’t wait to shoot their destination engagement shoot in southern France. There is something so special about capturing a couple that you connect with so deeply, as I did with these two. So much so that on the day of the shoot, we (my husband who was working as my assistant, and I) started shooting with them early in the morning as the sun rose, then the 4 of us spent the bright hours of the morning sipping espresso and eating croissants together. By the time the sun started lowering we drove to this sweet town nearby and kept adventuring through the streets and fields. I believe that the best images come out of that deep comfort with each other, when clients become friends and all nerves fade away and couples relax into purely themselves. It’s an honour to capture and a joy to be part of!

The Romantic Dallas Engagement of Two Childhood Sweethearts

Perfection is an engagement session at the hands of Tenth & Grace. Showcasing the beauty of Dallas gardens and the sweetest couple who met at the ripe old age of 14, this shoot includes gowns, wildflowers and true soulmates. Sift through all the pretty images right here and stay tuned for their insanely gorgeous wedding coming up next!

From the bride… Parker and I met at the age of 14 in Arkansas and started dating at 16. Parker actually took me on our first date on my 16th birthday since that was the age I was allowed to begin dating! We were high school sweethearts and destined soulmates. I always dreamt of a New Years eve engagement – Parker knew this and wanted to make that wish come true. On December 31, 2012 after a long day of work, I walked into a bare apartment that only had a mattress (I had just moved in the day prior and had no furniture). I opened the door to a candlelight path of sunflowers (my favorite flower) and a love song playing in the background. The best part about it was the path of flowers had a trail of photos with handwritten letters on each with quotes that described the perfect love. The photos were set up as a timeline of our love – starting with a photo of our first date and all the small moments in between. The trail ended and led up to a door, when I opened it, there was Parker on one knee where he asked me to marry him. I can still remember that day like it just happened. It was a moment of pure bliss. We had what most would call an extremely long engagement – 4 years! When you find your soulmate time means nothing because it truly went by so quickly. From the beginning, we treated our relationship like a marriage. The funny thing is, we would talk about wedding locations and attempt to plan but all of our ideas never seemed like a good fit for our love story. That is where the thought of building our own venue from the ground up grew, and the idea of The Grand Ivory was born.

We put together a styled engagement session for one of our lovely 2018 couples, the beautiful bride to be, Brooke Squires and her Kansas City Chiefs groom, Mitch Schwartz. We knew the The Plum Cafe & Kitchen would be the perfect location. Vintage modern in style with two-story exposed brick walls, clean lines, pink seating, beaming natural light and the coolest yellow retro wallpaper, this quaint place is such a local charm. Their signature “Frose” slushie, craft cocktails and delicious fare are not be missed. Brooke touched up her lipstick in the cutest ladies room in town with vintage-style retro bubblegum pink sink. We played off the pink and yellow vibes and put together a girly pink garden rose and ranunculus bouquet for her to carry. We also added some homemade candied lemon slices to the cupcakes and the two shared a plate of sweet raspberry macarons. Can’t wait for their wedding!

“Our clients spoke out and we listened. Our clients are our number one priority when it comes to our business. It’s important for us to listen when our clients say ‘they can’t imagine themselves wearing this.’ So we wanted to use women who are not only real and relatable, but also feel confident in their own skin and want to show off their curves.” — Michael Costello

A Stunning Sunset + Champagne = Picture Perfection

When you propose with a plane and a banner in the sky, you better have some pretty fabulous engagement pics as well. And these ones from Erika Brown don’t disappoint. With smiles, sips of champagne and a sunset view, these pics are pretty much perfect!

From Erika Brown PhotographyThis engagement was by far one of the sweetest to date! Lianne and Tom could not stop smiling and neither could I! They had the most perfect sunset and setting… and not to mention Lianne’s outfits… jaw dropping! I’m so excited to share their beautiful and sweet session with SMP!

From the Bride-to-be…

How We Met: I was living at the beach one summer, working, while Tom was stationed in DC. We knew of each other through mutual friends, my sister! On his days off, he would come to visit “friends,” I can’t say I minded too much!

Proposal: My family tradition started many years ago in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We hadn’t vacationed there in many years, so when we planned our trip for September 2016 I was not only excited to go back, but more excited to share my favorite family tradition with Tom. My dad had made one request for the whole trip, a family photo on the beach. So here we go, down to the beach to take what I thought was a family picture. The first picture was of my sisters, mom, favorite fur sister, Luna, and myself. As soon as we cooperated for a decent picture, they began to walk away and look back at the ocean. By the time I decided to turn around and check out what all the commotion was, I saw a plane flying over the ocean and a banner floating in the salty air that read “Lianne will you marry me?” Before I had time to process all that was happening, I turned around to find Tom kneeling down with a royal blue box that held a sparkly oval solitaire. Of course I said YES!

Wedding Details: Fall 2017 in Lancaster, PA at Excelsior! Our wedding style is simple yet chic and eclectic! We decided on shades of grey with some navy, complemented with neutral tones and lots of greenery! I am most excited for our ceremony on the garden terrace and dancing to our awesome band! Tom is excited to be with his closest friends and family celebrating our big day!

Giving Romantic Garden Inspiration a Fresh, Modern Twist

For Michelle Boyd’s recent photography workshop, a group of talents put their creative minds together for the prettiest of photo shoots. This elegant garden inspired affair is getting a fresh modern twist crafted by Mayhar Design with blooms by Sprout Floral and imagery by Michelle Boyd. And that fresh twist I spoke of? It’s all in the prettiest mint and green hues. Find even more inspiring details right this way.

From Michelle Boyd…As a film photographer, I have had the opportunity to learn from countless others at workshops and one-on-one mentorships throughout my career. Teaching has always been a huge love of mine, and every time I’ve hosted a workshop it’s been a highlight of my year. The Living Room Workshop was created out of my love for hospitality – I wanted to create an intimate setting for our four attendees to learn in a relaxed environment… In my own home! With all we discussed concerning running a film photography business, it only makes sense that we would practice the techniques we discussed. It’s for that reason that we put together the most beautiful shoot I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing! I’ve learned the most by watching others, and being able to demonstrate for our attendees, talking through my process and approach, and then see them take my direction and soar for their own artistry was thrilling! I was so blessed to have Melanie, of Mayhar Design, envision, create, and execute this amazing shoot for us, and can’t thank our vendors enough for coming along to make this vision come to life!

From Melanie of Mayhar Design…When Michelle called to see if I would be interested in designing a photo shoot for her workshop attendees, I immediately jumped on board! Knowing her love for all things elegant, I was thrilled at the opportunity to design and create something that was classic and timeless, with hopefully, a few unexpected elements. We decided on a romantic garden style that would play upon all shades of mints and greens. Barr Mansion, with its rich landscape, was a perfect fit, and the rest took off from there. From Whim Hospitality’s classically stunning furnishings to Sprout’s overflowing garden blooms and Guten Co.’s clean and crisp invitation design, we hoped to create a seamless blend of abundant beauty against an aesthetic of understated, graceful simplicity. I cannot speak enough to the talent and generosity of each vendor that shared their time and creativity on this project. This team was amazing and it was such a joy to work hand in hand with each and every person to see it come together!

3 Reasons You Should Be Using Instagram Stories for Your Biz

Have you been slow to hop on the Instagram Stories train? Sure, the idea of talking aloud to your followers or sharing your ‘in the moment’ might seem intimidating and pointless—but it actually provides a few perks that, especially as a business owner, are worth taking the plunge. Read below, and get ready for that colorful ring to surround your profile pic on a regular basis!

Not Everything Should Go on Your Feed

Stories allow you to keep your feed on brand while giving your followers the opportunity to see not-so-pretty (but totally addicting) behind the scenes! Maybe you’re a wedding photographer sharing sneak peeks of a golden hour e-sesh. Prospective couples can get a feel for what to expect!

Keep ’em Coming Back

The ephemeral aspect of stories keeps your followers coming back for more. They know they can go to your feed anytime they’d like but if they want those juicy behind the scenes details, they’ll likely be repeat story watchers on the daily.

Increases Interaction

With the ability to direct message from stories, you’ll find yourself having a lot more conversation and interaction with your followers. So, ask them questions! If you’re a blogger, ask them for new series ideas. If you’re an event stylist, take a vote on which color linens to use for your next project. Show your audience that their opinion matters to you.
