Historic Willamette Valley Farmhouse Hosts Romantic Alfresco Wedding Celebration!

This summertime Oregon wedding at the Barn Kestrel will take your breath away.  Set on 1o incredible acres, Beckon Events planned and designed a day most brides could only dream of.  Britlyn Simone Floral created romantic arrangements that were equal parts sophisticated and sweet.   Every magical moment was beautifully captured in the artful imagery by Sweetlife Photography.  You can see every darling detail in the full gallery.

From Allie at Beckon Events… The Barn Kestrel was the perfect venue for this Oregon alfresco wedding in July. Heather and Dan celebrated their special day among close family and friends and exchanged their vows in an open field overlooking the mountains in the distance. The happy couple received an endearing welcome of well wishes from the gentle quarter horse that resided in the venue’s pasture.

A striking historic sequoia tree shadowed the cocktail hour, providing ample shade by the party barn. The venue in its rustic charm complimented Heather’s color palette beautifully in her mauve, blush, and soft cream tones. The barn was enveloped in the lush greenery of Pacific Northwest pine trees that allowed for a quiet, intimate ceremony. Heather’s gown featured a whimsical volume of tulle with daintily placed floral lace motifs throughout the bodice and skirt to match her delicate Bella Belle heels. This ensemble perfectly built upon the organic floral designs of the invitation suite, printed in soft taupe & accented with a satin ribbon & custom wax seal.

The best man (and brother) of the groom gave a lighthearted speech that had guests bursting with laughter and tearing up at tender moments. Dan was his brother’s best man at age 21 and his brother, just over a decade later, delightfully accepted the role in return. The outdoor dinner reception decor rang true to its bucolic essence with a linear farmhouse table layout. The head table sat the bride & groom as well as their bridal party with brown x-back chairs. Pale pink taper and pillar candles were scattered throughout the long table amongst organic smilax to provide a romantic warmth to the open-air dining experience. Guests of all ages soon after retired to the party barn for dessert and dancing. Heather’s two-tier cake was decorated with sweet roses that corresponded with the enchanting blooms of her bouquet. After cutting the petite cake bedecked with blooms and feasting on the variety of sweets at the dessert display, everyone eagerly took to the dance floor in earnest. The love was abundant between the newlyweds as they shared in celebration of this new season of their lives.

From the Bride… Vik and I met through mutual friends during the fall of 2014. We started dating and a few months later I accidentally told him I loved him at a Pizzeria. He heard me but played it off like he didn’t. I realized after I slipped it that I actually did love him, and from there on we knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. We went on countless family vacations together and in the early fall of the following year, he decked out a greenhouse in lights and candles; and asked me to marry him.

Our wedding day was a black tie event. I wanted it to be formal, elegant, and classic. We found this amazing vineyard (Villa Catalana Cellars) not far from our Venue where we took our first look and portrait shots and it screamed Italy. It’s beautiful. You’re drive up and you automatically feel as though you have driven up some wobbly road in Italy. It’s owned by a couple who host wine tastings during the days. (what a dream right!)

The day itself was perfect; we had a huge guest count at 450, and we were lucky enough to have sunshine the entire day. To go with a black tie wedding, our color palate was black, white, and shades of blush. And obviously plenty of greenery.

As for my dress, I found it months before I was actually engaged. I was searching through Pinterest and come across a girl who had the dress and I knew I had to have it! No matter how many dresses I tried on, my heart was set.

A great memory was during the ceremony when it came time to say the vows, we played rock paper scissors to see who would go first. Our officiant was one of our good friends and our whole wedding party was killer.

From The Bride…I met my future husband, Brandon, my freshman year of college at a small university in sunny Orange County, California. I remember meeting him for the first time in the dorm rooms and thought he was pretty darn cute and had a great laugh (a real loud cackle actually, but it was endearing). We both were playing collegiate soccer and I happened to live right above him in the dorms. A friendship started between us that eventually led to us dating all throughout college. Since Brandon was from Oregon and I lived not far from the university, we decided to date long distance after graduation. After a few years of back and forth visits, Brandon asked me to start a new adventure with him and move to Portland, Oregon. I couldn’t have been more excited (and nervous) to move, but knew this was going to be a very exciting new chapter in our lives. Brandon was right; moving to Oregon was definitely one huge adventure! He loved taking me on trips to the Oregon coast, hikes at Silver Creek Falls, and skiing at Mount Hood. After about a year of being settled in my new home, Brandon took me on a hike to Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River Gorge. At the very top of the hike he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. I was ecstatic, shaking, freaking out, but of course said yes! I couldn’t wait to be his wife.

When we started planning our wedding we envisioned an outdoor venue that had a slight rustic feel. We loved the idea of creating a ‘romantic garden retreat’, so we were smitten when we found The Long Farm Barn, an adorable outdoor venue just outside of Portland. It had all the elements we wanted; a lush garden, 1900 restored barn, breathtaking views and three gorgeous horses to top it off. Our wedding color palette was a mix of soft blush tones with accents of Marsala. Flowers were really important to me, being a wedding florist myself, so we chose a lush mix of white hydrangea, garden roses, cream and lavender spray roses and burgundy and café au lait dahlias (to name a few). To create that quaint garden retreat feeling we did not skimp out on the details! There were lush green garlands at every turn, beautiful vintage rentals all throughout our venue, stylish freehand chalkboard signs, café-strung lights, and lots of blush and cream lace. We were married outside under a breathtaking arbor dripping in greens and floral with all our family and friends to witness. It was the most incredible feeling to walk down the aisle with my dad in hand and see my future husband waiting for me with a huge smile on his face.

Our reception was one of my favorite parts of the day. To see all the styling and planning come together was such a wonderful feeling. Much of the credit goes to all our amazing vendors, but also to my family and friends who worked tirelessly on all the little details I had dreamt up in my head. Some of my favorite reception details were our escort bud vases, kissing bell wands, and honey jar favors (which were made by my sister and brother-in-law’s own bee hive!)

After enjoying our al fresco style dinner while listening to heart-warming speeches we headed inside the barn for cake cutting and dancing. Brandon and I first danced to ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’ by Frankie Valli, which reflected our sweet, light hearted spirits and adoration for each other. The rest of the night was filled with lots of dancing, endless photo booth photos and a sparkler send off. It was such a magical and romantic day filled with so much laughter, love and pure joy.

Oregon Winery Wedding from Colleen Kerns

The pretty little state also known as Oregon happens to be one of my all-time favorite places in the world to visit, and I’ve often caught myself daydreaming about a lovely destination wedding of my very own in the land of fabulous wineries and amazing scenery.  So this beautiful affair captured by Colleen Kerns is awesome…and filled to the brim with vibrant colors, fab DIY details (hello crafty bride) and enough love to last a lifetime.  See it all here.

From the Bride… You’re about to see the images of the best day ever… DIY flowers, colorful bridesmaids shoes, pink flamingos, homemade strawberry jam favors, stripes, polka dots, a blush-colored wedding dress, the best photo booth of all time, dancing, laughter and so much more!!!

I love color, so I was not going to let our wedding fade to white. I wore blush and my handsome hubby wore a classic black and white combo with a poppy polka dot tie. The outdoor venue was picturesque with crisp white barns set off by verdant grass everywhere you looked. We even walked down the aisle as husband and wife under a shower of sprinkles. Everything came together just right. We kept the photo booth plenty busy, danced the night away and escaped the party in a gorgeous 1959 Jaguar!

The Jaguar in the photos is not just any old car. It’s been in my family for years. It was my grandfather’s, and my dad learned how to drive in that car! When my grandfather passed over 20 years ago, the family sold it. However, years later my father found the exact car and restored it back to its former glory. It was very special to have that piece of family history there on my wedding day!
