Lush is kind of an understatement when it comes to descriptive words for this wedding so beautifully captured by Jessica Hill Photography. It’s a mix of elegant, opulent, wildly beautiful and classic all wrapped into one. And with stunning, larger-than-life florals by Geranium Lakes none the less. From the Bride… Spenser and I met on the first day of 7th grade in our hometown of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Our relationship grew over 6 years of friendship, until we finally started dating for an additional 5 years. We were lucky to go to college just 30 miles away from each other in Southern California before my job after graduation took me to Texas and Wisconsin. Finally, after almost a year of long distance we found ourselves back in Southern California the summer of 2012. We found an apartment in Redondo Beach and Spenser proposed to me that September just a few miles up the road on the sand in Manhattan Beach, CA.
Immediately following our engagement, we knew it was a no brainer that we would have our wedding in Oregon. Known for its beautiful summers, we wanted nothing more than to bring our family and friends together to have a July wedding in Lake Oswego.
We quickly booked our venue at the Oswego Lake Country Club and planned for our vows in the Agnes Flanagan Chapel at Lewis & Clark, with a tented reception on the golf course. It allowed us to build our vision from the ground up. Because of our history, the most important thing to us was the coming together of our family and friends. While we knew it was going to be a large 300+ person wedding, we wanted it to feel intimate. We felt so blessed that everyone in each of our wedding parties had all been friends growing up together for the last 11 years. It made the day that much more special.
The vision for the day was a romantic, lush wedding in tones of blush, pinks, soft whites, ivory and cream. We loved the idea of relaxed elegance with a twist and using romantic blooms like garden roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and orchids. We wanted candles everywhere and twinkling lights. Thankfully, Kim Foren, of Geranium Lakes put this vision to life. We used Pinterest and wedding magazines to create the inspiration for one of the big focal points of the wedding: the hanging floral over the head table. We gathered a few inspirational images and let Kim and her imagination run. When we walked into the reception we were blown away by the beauty she had created.
Also, it was very important to us to weave personal touches and detail into the wedding. Our “table cards” were custom mini champagne bottles that the guests would take home has a favor. Everything from the “Redondo Love” specialty cocktail at the bar to the “Halvorsen Flank Steak” on the menu really spoke to us as a couple.
While our wedding was large, it truly felt intimate and like a reunion of all of our closest family and friends. All of our vendors were amazing, and we were so lucky to have the day captured by Jessica Hill Photography and Moetic Wedding Films. We now can look back on the best day of our lives for years to come.
