From the Bride… Our wedding was straight out of a fairytale. We got married on September 7th, 2013 and the day could not have been any more perfect. We chose our very good friend’s ranch as our wedding venue. The ceremony was in a large pasture and the reception was featured around a beautiful red barn. We always knew we wanted our wedding to be outside with a country feel. If you ask me what our theme for our wedding was, I would say Elegant Country. I wanted the day to be chic and classic, but with a country twist to it.

The arch at our ceremony was made specifically for our special day by our wonderful rental company, Eye Beam. I saw some inspiration on Pinterest and showed it to the guys and they told me they would absolutely make it happen. It turned out better than I could have imagined, they even added a chandelier (that worked!). As many brides know, it’s those little details that make the day so special. I am so thankful for the wonderful people who helped make my dreams a reality.

Andrew and I spray painted all of the centerpiece vases for the wedding. We spray painted all of them gold, and then took half of them and added glitter. This was my little way of adding a little bit of glam to the wedding! Andrew also had a hand in all the signs. We found old windows and spray painted them with chalkboard paint. He also put together the wood sign we used to let our guests know the timing of the day’s events.

My mom owns two wineries, Silvan Ridge Winery, where our Rehearsal Dinner was, and Elizabeth Chambers Cellar. We knew we wanted wine to play a special role in our wedding. We ended up using over 30 barrels spread out between the ceremony and reception and they were the perfect accent to our “Elegant Country” theme. We also had wine openers made as our gift to all our our guests to remember our day forever.

My Maid of Honor was my best friend from grade school, Madde. My other bridesmaids were my best friend from college, my little sister, and Andrew’s three girl cousins on his dad’s side. Andrew’s Best Man was his best friend and cousin, Nick. The rest of his Groomsmen were all very good friends!

Two days before our wedding was an absolute downpour. The ranch had gigantic puddles and we started to panic about what we would do if it continued to rain through our wedding day. I never gave up faith and though it was cloudy and cold the morning of our wedding day, it cleared up and turned out to be a gorgeous and warm summer day!

After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour to keep guests busy while we took photos,. There were horse shoes and washers to keep our guests entertained. After the cocktail hour we had a wonderful meal from Billy Macs Catering. Then it went straight to dancing. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing the night away. So many people stayed until the very last minute, when they lit sparklers and helped us with our grand exit!

A little background on Andrew and I : Andrew and I met through mutual friends six years ago and were crazy about each other. Five years later, I was in my senior year of college and Andrew decided to propose. It was the PERFECT proposal. A good friend of ours is a photographer and Andrew had arranged for her to ask me if Andrew and I would model for a photography class she was taking. I of course said no problem we will meet you at the park after I get off work. We met at the park and she was taking pictures of us when she said “Ok I need to change my lens, hold on just a minute”. This is when Andrew pulled me aside and got down on one knee. Kathryn got the entire thing on camera! We then walked back to the car where a limo waiting to take us to a wonderful restaurant in town. All of our closest friends and family were there waiting to celebrate our proposal with us. Pretty perfect, huh?
