As a fellow bride-to-be whose relationship has a major focus on food, I thoroughly appreciate this couple’s love for their weekly farmers market trips, and can’t think of a more personal and adorable idea for an engagement shoot. Judy Pak trailed along through Union Square Greenmarket and all the way to Gramercy Park, capturing every smile and we’re just smitten with these postcard-worthy pics.

From the Bride-to-be… James and I met in New York City when we were both new lawyers working at the same law firm. We lived only a few blocks away from each other in the Union Square area and would go to the Union Square Greenmarket every Saturday morning. We still go almost every weekend and love walking through, seeing what has been grown nearby and picking out what to cook each weekend.

Our shared love for food and cooking has been a huge part of our relationship. James proposed at Blue Hill at Stone Barns out in a field on the farm (before having an amazing meal!), and we are getting married in a barn in the Berkshires. But, at heart, we are still New Yorkers and since we aren’t getting married here, we wanted to take engagement pictures that would capture our true home.

We mentioned the Greenmarket idea to Judy, wondering if she thought it would work, and she was super enthusiastic to give it a try. We were also lucky to be able to borrow a key to Gramercy Park from a friend of James’s family, so we walked from the market, down Irving Place (one of our favorite blocks in the city) and ended in the park. It was a perfect fall day and we had the best time getting to know Judy and practicing our smiles for the wedding!
