From Judy Pak Photography… This couple met in design school and has been together for nine and a half years. As one became an Architect, the other became a graphic and motion designer. Therefore it only made sense to design their wedding inspired by their mutual passion, art. The Art of Love – Sablan Wedding had this concept help guide them in selecting and crafting every aspect of the wedding which generated a colorful and light color palette of coral, aqua, and gold.
The ceremony was a collaboration of various musical artists who played live music before and during the ceremony. The ceremony officiant designed a union that was 100% tailored to the couple, a ceremony in which is guests felt that their presence was necessary. The ceremony told the full story of their journey together. Instead of readings they had the best man and maid of honor recite quotes about love from famous artists. Lastly, coming from a diverse cultural background they were able to include a Haitian as well as a Chamorro tradition.
The cocktail hour was actually an exhibit showcasing elements of collaboration, design and graphics that they created with their love. The guest book was a sketch book where guests were encouraged to fill the pages. There was a photo booth station filled with playful cut outs that allowed the guests to have fun and get to know one another.
The centerpieces were a gradient of roses of different colors, held within a gold frame. As aqua colored paint brushes were scattered on the table one can identify which table was theirs by the mini famous painting about love on each table. The couples honeymoon table had two artist manikins embracing each other.
All this happened at the Pratt Mansions with a backdrop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art! “The artist is the person who makes life more interesting or beautiful, more understandable or mysterious, or probably, in the best sense, more wonderful.” -George Bellows
