From Firefly Events… Youyou and Rahul were an absolute joy to work with from start to finish! Helping our clients to achieve their wedding hopes and dreams is always the name of the game in our business, and we couldn’t wait to get started on crafting a spring soiree that would capture both the love and admiration that Youyou + Rahul had for each other, and their fun and adventurous spirit.

The wedding and reception were held at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, just an hour out of NYC, in lush Hudson Valley. Youyou was very inspired by the ethereal world of Lord of the Rings and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and wanted the wedding to have a similar feel. The tone was set from the start with this dreamy, embellished wedding dress from Jenny Packham.

The magical Sunken Garden provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, performed by one of the couples best friends! Bridget from Violet and Verde created this spectacular woven branch altar piece, adorned with delicate spring blooms in white and cream for Youyou and Rahul to stand under as they exchanged vows. After the ceremony, guests were led down a tree lined path to the Italian Pavilion for cocktails and…Video Games! This one was on Rahul’s wishlist for the big day, and we loved putting together this fun arcade tent for him. It was one of the biggest hits of the night.

We continued the magical garden feel throughout the evening with farm tables topped with florals in hues of violet, blue, and green. Ornate lanterns brought some extra sparkle while guests enjoyed their dinner and toasted the happy couple. With spirits high, Youyou and Rahul led the whole crowd in one of the most serious dance parties we’ve ever seen! At the end of the night, it felt almost criminal to cut into the amazing cake created by Elizabeth Hodes, but it turned out to taste as good as it looked. We were happy to have extra slices to send home with everyone!

Lasdon Park New York Wedding from Caroline Frost Photography

From this point on, when I think of drop-dead gorgeous garden affairs, I will think of this stunning (and I mean stunning) Lasdon Park and Arboretum wedding.  A wedding sooo full of pretty and outdoor-infused loveliness, it’s almost impossible to NOT love every second captured beautifully by Caroline Frost Photography.  I’m talking one moment after another of lush blooms from Judd’s Flowers and a Mikaella Bridal masterpiece.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… When my husband and I first started talking about getting married we agreed almost instantly that we wanted a laid back, intimate, outdoor wedding. When our family friend suggested Lasdon Park and Arboretum, we went to visit the park and immediately knew this was the place we wanted to get married. The park, which is part of Westchester County’s botanical gardens, is over 200 acres of beautiful gardens, woodlands, open grass and the three story colonial-style main house was the icing on the cake. It held two beautiful bridal suites for all of us to get ready and relax in during the day and was exactly what we were looking for.

When deciding on how we wanted our guests to portray our wedding as whole, we knew it had to be reflective of our personalities. We are both laid back people, who don’t necessarily like being the center of attention, so we wanted our wedding to be just as much about our guests as it was about us. We wanted everyone to be able to really relax, enjoy themselves and most importantly, dance the freaking night away!

The colors of our wedding were chosen to really celebrate the season of summer and our gorgeous surroundings. And since our venue was literally a botanical garden, we really wanted our flower selections to represent that, from our centerpieces to our bouquets. For the attire, we chose a horizon blue for the girl’s dresses and a classic grey for the guys. The guys also wore black leather Converse sneakers which could not be more fitting since Converses are the only type of shoe Lou has worn since he was in middle school!

When going through the details of the wedding we knew we wanted this to be a personal and unique day. Two of Lou’s close friends are incredibly talented musicians and singers and there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted them to be a part of our day. Jared and Ryan (who are brothers) performed our first dance, father/daughter dance and music for the ceremony. We loved how their performances added the personal and intimate touch we were going for and were truly the highlights of our wedding.

All in all our wedding was more than we ever could have hoped for. It completed reflected our personalities and us as couple. We had the time of our lives and so did our guests!
