Summer Wedding at North Fork’s Brecknock Hall

They say “love never felt so good”; the days are sunnier, the commute is shorter, and everything seems just better when you’re in love. Nothing will put you into a feel-good mood faster than this Sunnyville Films production of a Brecknock Hall wedding, made exquisite by SPINA and Sperry Tents. Set to the tune of Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s catchy hit, it’s the pick-me-up you need right now.

From the beautiful Bride… John scheduled our annual vacation trip to Europe, all while holding onto the engagement ring for 7 months! This time he chose the city of Prague, where he resided in his teenage years. The first night, as we walked back from dinner, we stopped to look at the glimmering castles near the Charles Bridge. He told me for the first time that he always imagined proposing to his future wife on the Charles Bridge, next to the good luck statue — St. John of Nepomuk. Then he plopped down to one knee and exposed the ring while I cried hysterically and said yes!

From Brecknock HallGiselle and John’s romantic vintage themed wedding came to life with the help of her best friend Paul Tsang-Diaz of floral designing company SPINA. The couple chose Brecknock Hall in Greenport, Long Island with a North Folk romance vibe in mind. “Guests were welcomed through a paths created of hundreds of Chartreuse Antique Hydrangeas,” says Paul. “The antique foyer table, which held the place cards, was dressed with an over-sized garland of Antique Hydrangeas that overflowed to the floor, accented with several petite mercury vases that held blush Feathered Peonies. The walkway was outlined with lanterns, hurricanes and white hydrangeas; at the end a Sperry tent with peaks and flowing flags awaited for the dinner and dance reception.”

“I’ve heard that this was one of the most romantic, exquisite and delicious weddings they had ever attended!” says Giselle. “They loved the how attentive the staff was and how delicious everything was.”

Elegant Veterans Day Wedding at Brecknock Hall

Every year, Brecknock Hall in Greenport, New York, gifts a deserving military couple with the wedding of their dreams and this year’s award couldn’t have gone to a better pair. Not only did the Bride grow up in Greenport, but had always envisioned her wedding at the gorgeous venue, surrounded by her loved ones. See every smile, kiss and red, white and blue, captured by Caroline Rocchetta, right this way.

From Brecknock Hall… The Veteran’s Day Wedding Giveback is an annual event hosted by Brecknock Hall in Greenport, NY, where one US military couple is awarded the wedding of their dreams. Brecknock Hall and many participating vendors donate their talents, time and services to create a lovely dream wedding that otherwise may not have been possible.

MA2 (EXW) Robert William Lees III and Amy Hughes were selected to be 2014’s lucky couple after an extensive search of many worthy applicants. Robert, a self-described “Navy brat”, son of a Navy Veteran, has served in the Navy for 12 years and has been part of numerous deployments and missions. Amy Hughes grew up in Greenport and as a child was always fascinated by the once-empty Brecknock building. After its restoration, she dreamed of one day being able have her wedding there. A few years ago she moved away from Greenport and relocated to Florida, where she and Robert were introduced. It was love at first sight.

In May 2014, they were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Robert William Lees IV, and as new parents they now had neither the time nor the financial means to plan a wedding. Robert and Amy’s heartwarming application letter told of his wish to give the love of his life the storybook wedding day that she deserved in the town she grew up in, the venue she grew up longing for and with the family she left behind… and the rest is history.

Brecknock Hall is currently accepting applications for their 2015 Veteran’s Wedding Giveback. Please email for more information.

Fourth Of July Weekend Wedding on Long Island

Amanda at Orchard Cove Photography sent us several fun weddings from this past summer, and it was SO hard to choose just one to show you on today’s Little Black Book Blog. (I even resorted to asking her to help us choose!) But, as any great photographer would  say … she couldn’t! There is just no way to choose a favorite when you’re blessed to be in this industry that is filled with so many unique couples with such great personalities. So, we’ll just have to keep the other weddings for a later date … and urge you to visit Amanda’s website and blog to feast your eyes upon so many more creative weddings and detail shots.

Today’s LBB Real Wedding: Ben and Hedda, Greenport, NY in July 2008: from the bride … Ben and I were married on the North Fork of Long Island.  We wanted a Fourth of July weekend-wedding where our friends and family would feel relaxed and happy. Our wedding was small, about 80 people, no bridesmaids or groomsmen.

We picked sunflowers … this was the first and easiest starting point. The sunflower is simple, but brilliant. Our friend, Sarah, did an amazing job with the flowers!

Our invitation invited our guests to join us “on the lawn”.

Coliseum Catering specializes in Fourth of July BBQs, and we served huge ice cream sandwiches for dessert. They’re Biggy Iggy and Chewie Louies! Ben and I discovered them in New Hampshire and have deemed them the most amazing ice cream cookies EVER. We also had a fabulous local “Newgrass” band, Astrograss.

Our wedding goal was to simplify….. I think we pulled it off!

Well, Hedda and Ben may have simplified, but I can’t imagine a more beautiful wedding.

Amanda, a Connecticut and Vermont based photographer, traveled to Long Island to photograph Ben & Hedda’s wedding.  Thanks Amanda for sharing their special memories with us.
