The Water’s Edge Wedding by City Chic Weddings

I imagine there will be a day here at Style Me Pretty that I am not completely obsessed with a pair of fabulous shoes, but, fortunately for me, today is not that day.  No, today I am head over heels for a pair of I-must-have-them-now teal Manolos, as worn by the super stylish bride from this NYC soiree by City Chic Weddings.  In fact, I happen to be quite smitten with everything about this lovely wedding, from the gorgeous eggplant bridesmaid dresses to that stunning bouquet by Ariston Flowers to the bride’s fabulous birdcage veil, this is one traditional meets vintage chic fête that I can’t get enough of.  Ayenia Nour Photography was there to capture every brilliant detail, so join me in the gallery for all of the pretty!

From City Chic WeddingsThe bride, a native New Yorker, and the groom, hailing from North Carolina really tried to make a fusion of cultural and personal aspects that embodied them both.  The wedding was planned in a matter of six months since the bride always dreamed of a May wedding.

The ceremony took place at St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church.  The couple chose this location because they loved the detail and gothic style of the old and traditional architecture, and found it matched their vision for the perfect ceremony. For the reception, the venue of choice was The Water’s Edge, where the bride and groom envisioned something on the water overlooking the New York City skyline.  It was the perfect venue that was able to cater to over 130 attendees (up from 50—which the bride owes to her fun and ever-growing big Greek family) Its high ceilings and huge dance floor were exactly what the couple was looking for, and as the sun set, the city lights made a beautiful backdrop as you looked out from the floor to ceiling windows. The floral arrangements were from Ariston Flowers, with each table of the reception featuring an elegant round centerpiece made of a mix of white in-season flowers with hints of deep purple to complement the color scheme of the bridesmaid’s dresses.

To follow with the Greek tradition, an important aspect of the reception was the traditional Greek music and folk dancing. Here, every guest took part in the well-known Greek circle dance, a fundamental Greek wedding custom.  The groom surprised the bride by performing the solo Greek dance known as “Zeibekiko.” He did this by taking dance lessons with her father a few months before the wedding. The bride and other family members took turns taking part in this customary dance.   By infusing a number of cultural elements along with classic inspiration and modern city flair, City Chic Weddings was happy to put together this first-class affair.

If you are looking for an amazing wedding photographer / videographer in the NYC area - check out what Mackler Studios created for me. http://vimeo.com/26702956 . It poured on our wedding day too (we live in NYC, but we decided to get married in my home town of Mystic, CT, on 7-3-11). I love how our photographer captured the rain and just made it a part of the whole atmosphere of the day. Hey - they say rain in good luck!

  3. Love the bride's vintage veil and the romance of having him in uniform. Love the photo of her looking out of the car!
