I am in some serious love with this Chelsea wedding by Billy Joe Hoyle and Alissa Chandler. It’s true. Every single detail has simply left me swooning. From the location (I’ve never been, but I think The Park is one of my new favorite places) to the lanterns on every table (I adore candlelight) to the oh-so-adorable cookie favors (an apple, of course), this wedding is fab.u.lous. And the list of DIY projects that the crafty bride and groom took on? Let’s just say I am one impressed blogger. So, get ready to get your swoon on and join me in the gallery for even more!

From the Bride…We wanted our wedding to feel very personal and also wanted an iconic NYC feel since most of our guests were traveling from out of town. We were on a strict budget and the garden at The Park in Chelsea felt like the perfect reception area. It is naturally beautiful and would not require a ton of decor to make it gorgeous for our big day!
Since we were already in a garden, flowers seemed unnecessary. We bought about 20 different lanterns (iron and wood) on sale from Pier One to create a shabby chic look. Hurricane candle holders were also placed on the steps and corners of the planters. Paper chinese lanterns of different sizes were purchased on line and hung in the trees. Tables were named after NYC neighborhoods and a black and white picture of each neighborhood was placed on the table. Family wedding pictures were also displayed in the atrium. Silver frames were purchased cheaply from TJ Maxx. The chalkboard signs were a DIY project, using old picture frames, chalkboard paint, and paint pens. The guestbook was also a DIY project. Guests left a wish on a page based on where they traveled from (San Francisco, Arizona, Tennessee etc). Finally, the programs and menus were a last DIY project and were created to look like the invitation. I found a 1934 New Yorker cover with the church featured and purchased the copy and used it for the program cover.
