There is some serious local blog lovin’ going on over here today. One of the reasons I am so in love with these local blogs is we are able to break things down a bit. Of course there will be oodles and oodles of real weddings right in your backyard, but we’ll also get to highlight some of the things that really make us all go WOW. Take for instance these besties that both happen to be uber taented – Jen of Jen Huang Photography and Betsey of Nine Cakes. This is what their little tea party for friends looks like. Pretty amazing, right? I loooooovvvee me some pretty cakes and when they are photographed so beautifully I go into extreme blog lovin’ mode. Click here for even more!

From Jen Huang Photography… Betsy and I are good friends, and we respect each others work so much, so we decided to do a shoot of her cakes and creations, styled beautifully of course. We didn’t want all her confections to go to waste so we decided, why not style a REAL party, a tea party, where it would not only be eye candy but delicious bites for our dearest friends.

I’ve been collecting mismatched teacups, saucers and china and we used that, as well as my romantic and rustic studio as the backdrop. The idea was to provide a context to the cakes, so that brides and grooms would be able to see how to use a single cake, or multiple smaller cakes at their weddings. We kept it simple, letting the design of the cakes and macaroons do the talking. What emerged was an intimate, laid back and fun party with delicious and beautiful food and a special feel. After the party we thought something like this could inspire an intimate wedding, or even a bridal shower.
